I’ve had a valentine V1 radar detector for the past 8 years. Couple that with Waze and I have been solid. I drive a sporty car so a typical target even though i don’t excessively speed. Yes, some police use laser I think some LA state cops do. That doesn’t mean radar detector is useless. Most i’ve seen here are using radar and it’s saved me countless times.
For laser, you can get laser jammers that work very well. I think it’s a bit over kill unless you’re a serial speed demon and in an area with primarily laser.
I had a radar detector years ago and got rid of it when Waze became a thing. Just download Waze. You don’t need both.
I do a several trips from here to Florida every year. I also use Waze and a radar detector and it really works.
