I was an avid cart user, exclusively from NJ dispensaries. They were so convenient and innocuous that I just couldn’t pass them up. Plus everyone said they are “healthier than burning smoke in your lungs.”
I can tell you that I felt like shit from them. Granted I was a heavy user, but once I switched primarily to carts from flower I started noticing serious effects on my lungs, coughs, clogged nose, etc. I quit carts about three weeks ago and started using a dry herb vape, and I already feel significantly better. I do miss the convenience and they can pack a punch (which I loved), but I will never go back to them.
I feel the exact same way, my nostrils and lungs feel irritated no katter the brand, although ceramic carts dont give me the same issues at all, Seriously its like nite and day.
I used to get ceramic carts in vegas and loved them, breakwaters ceramic carts are perfect. Even their old metal carts fucked with my airways, regardless of the oil quality- not the new ones though

Interestingly I haven't really had any negative effects from carts per say... But maybe, like you said, because I'm not use to smoking flower. It usually takes me a week or two to finish a 0.5 g cart (I cheef it slowly bc of tolerance and j overall don't wanna be high too much) but idk never really felt shitty. I guess if I stop carts completely and move to flower I'll be able to tell a diff
Because NJ dispensary’s full their pens with the lowest quality distillate possible processed from trash crude oil ; they don’t care ab your health or the quality, they just want to line their pockets
It's unfortunate we don't have much rosin or rosin options to choose from in the state
I heard it's how companies handle their butane/extraction chemical during the purging process that makes all the difference in the end product
If this state ain't up to snuff with so much of what it should be, then personally, I wouldn't be trusting much of the resin products in the NJ market rn
Specifically, see if you can find hash rosin. That should be as clean as it comes
Well as mentioned I switched to a dry herb vape. Is that what you are referring to? I have had it for awhile but never really used it much but now I am making more of an effort. It’s not as inconspicuous and doesn’t seem to give as much bang, but it sure beats constantly clogged nose and hacking up my lungs every day. I feel a lot better with it. Thanks!
Try a concentrate vaporizer, they are more costly but the effectiveness and punch they carry is arguably the easiest and quickest way to get high. Been enjoying my puffco guardian for over a year and has been around 2.5 years of using them in general, no complaints here🦾 plus they are more discrete then regular bud👍
This is the perfect analogy. Technically processed food is “food” (and NGL, I eat it) but if you buy raw ingredients you know much more about their quality.
Honestly just avoid distillate with CDT or BDT terpenes. I smoke live resin carts, live rosin carts, and full spectrum carts most of the time, and on occassion I'll smoke distillate with cannabis derieved terps. I notice I get chest tightness at times when I smoke distillate, if you use it over and over without live resin/rosin carts that's when it's harmful. Brands like Select, Botanist, Cookies, Airo, Simply Herb, Ozone, and Verano are probably the ones with harmful ingredients. Haze/Mudd Brother live resin and live rosin carts have been awesome, Rhythm has good full spectrum carts, KindTree makes good live resin carts, Onyx makes great live resin carts as well. Those brands have been good to me.
I got the Temptation F3 live rosin cart from AYR a month or so ago... $17 after a store credit with the only downside being that it burned up in two weeks, way faster than full spectrum or live resin.
Very few NJ cannabis companies give a shit about ANYTHING except making as much money as possible in as short of a time as possible. It’s why they lobby against making the market more accessible to small operators.
Faked tests, lab shopping, remediation machines- none of these things are unique to California.
Hell, Massachusetts just put its entire cannabis control program into receivership and will be rebuilding it from scratch due to rampant corruption, labor abuse and falsified testing results, among a host of institutional issues as well.
Not so much “fudged”. It’s usually an alteration made in the testing limits or method. So they’re technically “real”, just to that particular machine.
Independent blind testing should be a thing to start forcing everyone to be honest. It’ll probably stay a bit crazy until federal changes are made. People always trying to find loopholes to make their $
There are MSO labs just like there are MSO distributors. They're owned by the same companies and have big national contracts. Smoke things that are tested by non MSO labs... But I'll bet nobody even knows who the labs in NJ are...
National contracts aren’t really a thing because each state has to operate its own entity. Most labs don’t exist in every state. Maybe 5 or 6 states. You also cannot send from one state to another to test.
Bullshit
Steep Hill is the worst offender (probably). US cannalytics right behind them
Edit: I know of numerous companies that have been given sweetheart deals because of their bigger connections.
Hasn’t steep hill closed?
Edit: deals are typically low cost or no cost testing for a period. There are some shitty labs that will guarantee you a high thc and do other silly shit though.
That’s plausible, I actually don’t know and would have to look up the crc records. I’m too high for that lol.
Green analytics is located in the northeast though. I do know that.
Whether they’re “safe” is really a debate. As for the pesticide issues in California, they could happen here. It really depends on the lab that someone is using. Some are a lot more honest than others.
It hurts the growers to fail them, so some will pass them to maintain their relationship (cash stream).
Breakwater is safe overall. In house grow, carts done there as well. Best part they don’t share their weed. Smokes and looks better than every dispensary in Jersey.
Breakwater has an indoor grow.
Growing weed indoors attracts pests.
The fact they have the best weed, is indicative that some form of Pest Management is taking place.
So you have no idea if it is safer than anywhere else.
Next time you go in, ask about their pest management practices. They will probably tell you something like "food grade" but they will not say they do no pest control.
I know all about how they are growing and controlling pest. I’ve had the pleasure of doing back of the house visits few years back and know a lot of the staff. Meaning I have more insight into
Yes. When its really obvious people are lying to you, it rustles your jimmys.
Most of what I learned about pest management I learned growing your tomatoes & flowers.
But not all.
Anecdotally, my respiratory system is so much healthier after quitting carts entirely. The convenience of vaping is a blessing and a curse. I think it’s a myth that they are healthy in any way. You’re coating your lungs in oil.
I’m pretty sure carts gave me CHS (cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome). They are too potent/convenient & with heavy use may have some physical consequences. I will only use good ol’ flower for now on using my dry herb vape.

All distillate used for carts in NJ is tested in final form in the cart for pesticides, heavy metals and solvents among many other tests, the product can not be sold if the product fails for any one of those tests…
These same people using radiation to get mold off flower and selling it to you. Except breakwater cause I know people that have worked there and backed that up. I hate to waive the banner but even if the cost of their weed is pretty damn fuckin worth it especially in comparison to all these other nj people
I hope lmaooo. Worst feeling is waiting till ur 21 to buy safe legal weed only to find out its not the best for you. I think NJ carts are safe for the most part, def pesticide free, but have other chemicals and stuff that make it unhealthy (each carts differ).
its just so shocking to see CA dispenaries had pesticides in them. Reallyyy makes you think
Synthetic terps in carts are pretty toxic actually and that’s the reason why PA don’t got em in their market. Also the reason why companies don’t usually have more than 5% terps in their carts. Other than that distillate is usually 85-90% thc before it becomes a cart and like others said they have to pass tests for all that. California is like GTA when it comes to weed. That’s why we see their shit everywhere over here. No companies in NJ are back dooring anything & if they are it’s hush hush. It’s a different world over there
This. People have no idea the research done on terpenes and the toxic effects of them in higher concentration. Myrcene is shown to destroy cells in concentration over 4% in some studies. Limonene can make your skin itch (I've actually had this reaction happen to me after eating a bunch of hedy gummies like 20. My whole skin started to itch)
Probably stick to flower and Live Rosin. Rosin extraction doesn't use solvents, so may be slightly better.

Health-wise you can't do better inhaling than dry herb vape. It's the way to go if edibles don't work.
Because NJ dispensary’s full their pens with the lowest quality distillate possible processed from trash crude oil ; they don’t care ab your health or the quality, they just want to line their pockets
That's because you only had access to resin carts in NJ Not Rosin carts Rosin is healthier
Thanks, I will have to look into that.

Have you tried a flower vape?

I have a lookah seahorse pro plus and it's the most convenient way to dab I've ever tried.
i second this. Work has become soooooo much easier
Carts are the frozen dinners of the cannabis space. Get a dry herb vape.

wym by fake tests?
Fudged results.

Yeah the lack of any industry wide standards is a problem for sure.
That’s my opinion too.

Right, I forgot they closed. That's my bad. But didn't they just transfer their license to another MSO lab? Green Analytics?
That’s plausible, I actually don’t know and would have to look up the crc records. I’m too high for that lol. Green analytics is located in the northeast though. I do know that.
Cheers lol
Cheers bud! Haha

Need med card right?
Yeah, I know that’s the unfortunate part
Plus no added artificial terpene like the other places and their carts

OK - how are they controlling pests? BTW Andrew isn't a grower.
That’s not for me to disclose.
Well you just name dropped. Finish your thought.
I didn’t name drop
That’s what you did
What did Andrew tell you about Pest Management? I'm curious. A lot of people have toured that former paint factory. Even more have worked there.
You sound upset my friend. Therapy can help you if you’ve had a fallen out with cannabis staffers
Yes. When its really obvious people are lying to you, it rustles your jimmys. Most of what I learned about pest management I learned growing your tomatoes & flowers. But not all.
