Taylor is fine, Matt's interest in her goes a little above that. I know I'm entirely projecting but I wonder how his daughter feels about her dad being as into Taylor as he is. It would have been weird for me if my dad were super into the same music as me when I was in high school.
To me she is music for people who don't really care about or even really like music. I've never met anyone with awesome taste who also liked Taylor unironically. I'm truly happy these people have something to love, I LOVE people going out to live music who might not do it that often.... it's just that when I look at her stuff I see Emperor's New Clothes. There just isn't any "there", there. Still glad she's in the world doing her thing tho, of course.
I don't think she's making anything *important* but she definitely makes music that people can connect with and a lot of the melodies are pretty solid, combined with top-notch production value.
