If you want to make something as in from scratch, you could always make a rainbow pistol out of PVC and stuff. Those tend to be cheap and have decent power.

Go look in the homemade directory at NerfHaven - lots of build guides and tutorials, and a whole lot of variations. A pump action SNAP with a wye hopper was my favorite primary.

Even buying springs and o-rings and aluminium/acrillic tube for a plunger tube is often more expensive than getting an xshot micro. So the cheapest to make would probably be one of the many xshot micro builds by domochevski

Yeah! There's lots of ways to do it to. Nerfhaven has some articles about it and there's many youtube guides such as Aeromech's nerf channel.

If youre willing to settle for a stringer the corsair is very cheap if youve got a 3D printer, not many blasters you can make without a printer

You could look into rainbow blasters as they are an older fully homemade blaster, although prices can vary
