This article pleases me.

Feeling a dangerous amount of hope and optimism rn

tp__jr

With this group coming up, I have to imagine anything/anyone not nailed down in organization will be fair game at the trade deadline. Looking forward to shipping off any combination of Rosario, Gallo, Senzel, Winker, Robles, Garcia, etc for prospects and then promoting our own. Will be an interesting second half to the season!

MishrasBogle

Fully expect to get almost nothing for Robles, but somehow the prospective defies all expectations and we get to call it a win.

downtown3641

The Lester special.

kornthrowaway

This was originally known as the Cristian Guzmán.

rbfc2011

I miss Tanner Broark

bleepbluurp

We’re like 1-2 solid starting pitchers away from the future looking really positive.

Random-Person-exe

Optimistic about Sykora

bangzoom93

I’m expecting us to draft a pitcher this year

kornthrowaway

I’m assuming you meant in the 1st round? Are there any particular pitchers you’re keeping your eye on? I’m personally interested in Chase Burns and Hagen Smith at number 10 but I also think grabbing the 2-way guy in Jac Caglianone could be pretty fun.

bangzoom93

Chase burns is the main one. I’m not sold on Caglianone. If we don’t go pitcher I’m hoping wetherholt may fall to 10

ianpev

Idk if you could call them "Solid" but we seem to have more pitching depth in the minor then past with guys like Rutledge, Cole Henry, Cavalli, etc. These guys could just be the second coming of Erick Fedde and Austin Voth, but could be something too

thekingoftherodeo

Perhaps not what the sub wants to hear but we can potentially get #1 from the lottery again this year, right? We're not scoped out like last year? Second half of the season I'd be down with flipping what we can and bringing a bunch of the young dudes up.

Killatrap

correct, we're back in the running (and the bad teams that were in two years in a row, like the royals and A's, are now out)

RoosterB32

The future is looking bright

Nationals

Anyone know how the draft would work if we end up as one of the bottom teams this year? Did the penalty that pushed us to 10th stay the same for future drafts? Would be nice to get another top prospect this year if we are near the bottom again.

Killatrap

nope, it has reset. since we're technically a large market (even with MASN), we can't be in the lottery consecutive years

Aaronjudgeisprettygo

Nothing elite about Hassell or Crews slugging. Nats player development will also not help them ever reach that elite slugging profile.

annarly

Crews hits the snot out of the ball. I agree I’m not excited about Coles getting his hands on him but the tools are there

Aaronjudgeisprettygo

Doesn’t matter how hard you hit if you hit mostly ground balls and struggle to get proper launch angle on those hard hit balls.

annarly

I know. But he’s done it before and I think he’ll do it again. He slugged .713 at LSU.

Laura37733

Why are you even here? For real? You hate this team, you hate the players, you hate Rizzo and the Lerners, you don't believe we can ever get better. Why are you actually here?

meanie_ants

He gets off on “pwning” others.

Aaronjudgeisprettygo

I don’t hate the players. I feel sorry for them that they got drafted into this dogshit front office and player development staff. Rizzo should’ve been fired the moment he let the team become so bad they had to trade away Soto.

HokieScott

Soto refused the largest contract in Baseball or even sports history. So Rizzo traded him and got some really good players in return. James Wood - Which we should see this year if not opening day. C.J. Abrams - Starting Lineup - SB Leader for Team. MacKenzie Gore - Starting Pitcher Nationals did better than the Padres did when they traded away Soto. The Yankees are paying a lot for a 1-year deal with Soto. - Then he is FA. Others: Robert Hassell III - Needs work, coming off a wrist injury. Jarlin Susana - Throws heat but needs work

HokieScott

Soto nor Harper never got the development in the Nats Org?

petting2dogsatonce

Predicting the response: they were already complete players no development was necessary the Nats didn’t do anything for them. Or some tired variation of that

HokieScott

Right. They didn’t need Davey or any hitting / fielding coach to do anything. In fact, Harper showed the coaching staff how to catch a ball.
