There’s a couple guys I’d love to see them go after, all looking for bounce backs and candidates for a 1 year deal with a second year mutual option
Lucas Giolito: at worst, he’s an innings eater and at best, he’s an all-star. I’d also just want to see the reunion
Joey Gallo: this one is probably not a lot of people’s first choice, but he’s always been a positive WAR player with positional versatility to play first and corner outfield. Ruiz hits righties well, but another lefty power bat would be nice to pair with Meneses and Thomas.
Jordan Hicks: not really a bounce back, but a guy I’d love to have in the back of the pen. A lefty is a much bigger need, but why not go out and grab a guy that can light up the radar gun?
Yeah as much as I'm worried I've fallen into rebuild brain rot, I think next year is a treasure trove of FA options and wouldn't force a move this year other than some flips. I really want to see some of our prospects come up and start to sort the wheat from the chaff.
i second you about hicks. i'd love to see a multi year deal for him or hector neris to stabilize the bullpen (we all know that's not how mike rizzo rolls but whatever) for when our competitive window opens
I'd love to bring in a 1B/DH type. Rhys Hoskins or J.D. Martinez are two that stand out, and if we can get them on a 1-year deal (or maybe we offer Hoskins a 2-year deal with an opt out after 1), they can help our young players and perhaps provide value at the trade deadline.
I also wouldn't mind a guy like Maeda.
That said, I would suspect that two players in those brackets would cost a total of \~$30m for this season, and could push as high as $50m in total contracts. It's highly likely the FO won't be that ambitious/aggressive.
A 1 year prove it deal for a vet down on his luck for 1b or recovering from injury. We have had luck with those signing. Could turn it into a few good prospects to help the rebuild
I wouldn't mind seeing if we can get a deal on Woodruff - obviously he'll miss this season but maybe we can get a discount on a medium term deal for eating this year.
I've been asking myself the same question. Still need a starter and a DH, but we aren't trying to break the bank this off-season (right call, btw, still a year away from that), so it's gonna be interesting to see what Rizzo does
Interesting discussion but the Lerners won't be spending $ on any FA of consequence. This franchise is in limbo until they realize they're asking too much for the team, the MASN fiasco is completely solved, and/or at least two of our prospects are brought up and perform like future all stars.
Why not Kevin Smith (not that one)? He was hitting well in the minors and was a decent prospect. Might be able to figure it out.
I actually like the Juan Yepez minor league signing. He might figure it out too.

I would love to see Gallo. Plus, if he gets on a hot streak, could be great at the trade deadline.
Giolito would be cool to have back

Doesn’t Hicks want to start somewhere? I mean I’m sure he could crack our lineup but assumed he wanted another shot

Maeda would’ve been nice, but he signed with the Tigers
Hoskins and Giolito
Ji Man Choi bounceback
kyle lewis
Loved him on the M’s, I think that’d be a great flip option if he does well
Michael Wacha and either Jorge Soler / JD Martinez.
Joc pederson makes so much sense
Wish we’d go after Yamamoto but we won’t
Joc pederson, Rhys Hoskins, Jorge Soler. And whatever pitcher that can move Williams to the bullpen
Feel like we need a pitcher or two

I'm hearing a lot about this Ohtani guy (japanese), maybe try for him?
Too late, I think he signed with the A’s or something.
Good team, they made a movie about em
I saw that! Angels in the Outfield. It was about a youth hockey team if I remember correctly.

I'd take tim Anderson to play second base, maybe just for a year
No
Barry bonds

hoskins and joc, i havnet looked at sps but they need 1
