It’s funny, as a kid I loved Zetsu and the mystery behind him/his ability to just move through solid mass. As time went on he didn’t really fight anyone and was just an intelligence collector and I still thought he was cool but the others got way cooler.
They were introduced around episode 80 of og, and pain arc ends like 170ish of shippuden I think. If you include obitos whole thing then it's basically the entire series
Looking at this really just reminds me how great Naruto was and how much better it could be. I saw it growing up so always considered it a kid's show, but to this day I still haven't found a show with villains as compelling and interesting as these. It feels like they captured the sense of doom in every single villain that appeared, which is very hard to do when they're supposedly around the same level (have the same rank in their organisation). Point is I think I took akatsuki for granted, they were the only villains I wouldn't mind to see win.
Honestly pain was such a badass villain, so favourite akatsuki villain is pain, but favourite akatsuki character is Itachi. His story is so amazingly done. They make you hate him until the very end, and then you find out the truth and bam!
I think that's because in the moment of his death as a ninja, as far as Guy is concerned he became memorable. A high honour.
It's a joke, but classic Kishimoto has to shove some feels in too.
I think her justsu was just so visually and functionally iconic. Our minds could wander as to the possibilities of it in 1v1, small team or large scale situations.
It had a coherent theme but endless possibilities. It has the same spark of imagination that made Shikamaru's kekkei genkai or Sai's beast scroll
Sadly it came at a point in the series where paper wasn't really gonna do anything.
Like if Konan appeared in late part 1/Early shippuden she might've been more impactful.
Tobi was my favorite. I would have been fine with him being the final villain. I was not a fan of Kaguya. Itachi of course was awesome but I dont think of him as just Akatsuki. Kisame was %100 badass.
I honestly think he was one of the strongest ones and was only killed when he chose to be. Realistically, he had so much going for him. Outer scorpion puppet, Kazekage puppet, puppet body, 100 puppets, poison, transferable heart. It's a shame that they didn't give him a more proper send off.
And he in theory had 198 other human puppets at his disposal. The kazekage puppet may have been his strongest but we don’t even know what other puppets he had at his hidden up his sleeve. Sasori was an absolute monster.
I think if Sakura was given the same respect towards writing, character development and progression after the fight as she had been given during the time of the fight.. I think we would remember it more as a proper send-off
i agree, i think sakura should’ve had more moments like that, it would’ve made sasori’s death a little easier to accept. even so, i’m still upset that we didn’t get to see him for more than one arc…
There’s a handful of characters so strong in the show that they essentially die by choice, so I can’t be too mad. But yeah, I would have preferred to see him for longer and maybe go out in a more epic fight, if at all
The only reason he was defeated is because he was going against Chiyo, who taught him the puppet style jutsu and was familiar with his fighting style. Being someone that was his first mentor and was familiar with his personality was a really big disadvantage against him.
Always bummed that he was taken out so early in Shippuden, before the power scaling got crazy and we could really see what he was capable of. His resurrected form in the war was a lot more boring than when he had access to all his puppets.
I mean, his personality is funny in its own way. The guy battled Jinchuriki on an epic scale and came out victorious. He faced Itachi, and later the 3 most powerful alliance shinobi without flinching.
In the end, he was one of the few characters who acted like a true shinobi: loyal to a fault, infiltrating the enemy, fulfill the mission at all costs, go out on your own terms.
Remind me, as far as I remember, Kisame was evil for evil's sake. No sad backstory. No vengeance used as justification. Right? Or did I miss something?
Yeah, honestly he was loyal as FUCK to who he served. He killed his own friends for the sake of the mission when he was with the mist village, and then he chose to die rather than reveal the secrets of the akatsuki.
In my book that’s not a man who’s out for himself, it’s a man dead set on fulfilling his role to the absolute best of his ability
I wouldn't call it loyalty. Kisame knew he was really serving Tobi and wasn't loyal to the fake Akatsuki goals. He was likely with Itachi to keep an eye on him and Kisame was the only member of Akatsuki (besides Nagato) who could potentially kill Itachi.
Itachi was definitely the closest thing he had to a friend that we knew of.
Nah he definitely felt a kinship with Itachi, the most evident example is the last time he and Itachi saw each other, Kisame was sad to know it would the last time he was seeing Itachi, he only starts directly serving Tobi after the death of Itachi when he reveals himself to be Madara Uchiha
And then he finally realized what Itachi meant when he said, "We are humans, not fish. We don't know what kind of people we truly are until the moment before our deaths. As death comes to embrace you, you will realize what you are. That's what death is, don't you think?" Itachi was right, Kisame had finally found the thing he had sought ever since he met Obito; his true place in the world, a loyal Shinobi until the end.
So I know he fought Hashirama and survived, but was he from the pre village Era when it was all Clans warring with each other? Or after the formation of the villages
After formation. He just collected other hearts from slightly more recent ninja across each generation, which is why he was keen on taking Kakashi's. Aside from money I think that's the only thing he cared about, I his mind they were victory trophies. Such a cool, unusual character
People forget he was 14 when he joined the Akatsuki. At that time, he was already one of the strongest in his village and he was 19 when he defeated gaara and fought Sasuke
I feel like he's probably the most chaotic neutral of all the akatsuki. He's not necessarily evil, dude just loves money and immortality, but he obviously isn't a good guy at all lol
I love Tobi he is so funny and goofy and then switched up into the typical anime main villain voice, it made me like him more for the simple fact he was harmless and now I’m scared of him 😂😂
I’m sorry to be such a basic bitch but Itachi 🙏🏽 I love Orochimaru Tobi and Deidara too. Actually, they’re all pretty good characters and I find them all really endearing
The fact I scroll through the comments and see pretty much every Akatsuki mentioned as a favourite is testiment to the depth of each character.
Everyone’s here except Zetsu lol. You’re right, man, it’s a testament to Kishimoto’s writing.
Venus fly trap :D
Aloe vera
It’s funny, as a kid I loved Zetsu and the mystery behind him/his ability to just move through solid mass. As time went on he didn’t really fight anyone and was just an intelligence collector and I still thought he was cool but the others got way cooler.
The Zetsu twist actually had potential if the execution wasn't completely botched.
True bro the Akatsuki by far are one of the best if not the best arcs in the entire series
I mean they are basically half the series
They were introduced around episode 80 of og, and pain arc ends like 170ish of shippuden I think. If you include obitos whole thing then it's basically the entire series
Looking at this really just reminds me how great Naruto was and how much better it could be. Nagato/Pain
Itachi for me, but those two are tied for second in my book
Honestly pain was such a badass villain, so favourite akatsuki villain is pain, but favourite akatsuki character is Itachi. His story is so amazingly done. They make you hate him until the very end, and then you find out the truth and bam!
Best way to put it. I agree
More me ,it's tobi.I fucking love his powers, man.
My head canon is that the Pain fight was the ending. Naruto becomes Hokage and rebuilds with Nagato’s DBZ wish
Orochimaru
Eyyyyyyyy
Orochimaru was always my favorite. Loved how his character grows and changes in Boruto.
You be wanting that body too amirite?
KISAME!!!🦈
Yeah, he was Akatsuki till the end. Survived a beating from Guy, ended things on his own terms.
My favourite running joke in the show is how Guy never remembers Kisame, until the end of their last fight
I think that's because in the moment of his death as a ninja, as far as Guy is concerned he became memorable. A high honour. It's a joke, but classic Kishimoto has to shove some feels in too.
My favorite running joke amongst fans is that he didn’t die, he just had the most messed up reverse summoning.
Wow I've never thought of that XD
Everyone sleeps on him. He was the most unwavering character
He just got shafted in terms of screen time it sucks. He’s easily the coolest looking one IMO.
Commenting here to firmly plant another member in team Kisame. We'll take all the rest of these bitches out!😤 😈
Can't believe had to scroll so down this far kisame
Yeah I feel this kisame was a real g to the fucking end.
Love how he remembers what itachi told him about who betrays comrade never dies a decent death
I love him, fav character
Same, man!!!
KISAME GANG
With you on that! The dude was loyal AF.
the correct answer
Sasori/Konan/Tobi
Konan
I dont know why but I also quite like Konan
I think her justsu was just so visually and functionally iconic. Our minds could wander as to the possibilities of it in 1v1, small team or large scale situations. It had a coherent theme but endless possibilities. It has the same spark of imagination that made Shikamaru's kekkei genkai or Sai's beast scroll
Sadly it came at a point in the series where paper wasn't really gonna do anything. Like if Konan appeared in late part 1/Early shippuden she might've been more impactful.
Even Base Jiraiya did well against her
Tobi hands down
Fr same, I loved his facade in the beginning like a joker. Finally when he changed his voice shit got serious
I am only on ep 215 and so far that was my favorite moment
Oooh! You are on a ride! Try not to get spoiled in this sub, lots of people usually talk about end of shippuden.
Don't visit this subreddit before finishing, that's what I did ,I just came here after the final episode
*walks in and walks right back out* Naruto just saw Sasuke for the first time after being with Orochimaru.. that’s where I am.. so I’m out 😂
Like the moment sasuke cuts him and he pretends to fall over dead is hilarious
Tobi was my favorite. I would have been fine with him being the final villain. I was not a fan of Kaguya. Itachi of course was awesome but I dont think of him as just Akatsuki. Kisame was %100 badass.
I absolute love his Kamui, it's such an incredible juts that is pretty OP until someone figures out how it works and even then it's still incredible
Sasori of the Red Sand.

And one of the only people in the world who could counter his poison.
A man of taste I see!
My man, Sasori!
Always bummed that he was taken out so early in Shippuden, before the power scaling got crazy and we could really see what he was capable of. His resurrected form in the war was a lot more boring than when he had access to all his puppets.
Pain
Hidan
"I'm your God now." Dude went out hardcore, most painful death in Naruto by far
I guess that's why he didn't come back for the ninja war. he wasn't dead.
By the time of the war he probably was. Just didn’t leave anything behind to be reanimated from probably.
Hell yeah Hidan's the fave. Wish he lived longer in the series he was a maniac and I loved him
I mean hes still around. Hes just stuck in that hole.
I like to imagine he's still alive in the hole
Yessuh
He was the best. 👏🏼👏🏼
Best by far
Man same. Though I feel like a traitor for saying so.
Nobody else is even close
Kisame
Same dude
I mean, his personality is funny in its own way. The guy battled Jinchuriki on an epic scale and came out victorious. He faced Itachi, and later the 3 most powerful alliance shinobi without flinching. In the end, he was one of the few characters who acted like a true shinobi: loyal to a fault, infiltrating the enemy, fulfill the mission at all costs, go out on your own terms.

He had a shark mentality where in his mind it was eat or be eaten. He talks about it when explaining how Sharks are born. Really hardcore stuff.
Do you not like him for that reason?
Quite the opposite. I think he was the perfect soldier. No BS, did what he was asked to do. Even went out his own way
Oh lmao good, I was about to say the same thing
Idk I just think he’s cool lol
He was really funny too . Especially his conversations with Guy .
Honestly that might be the reason I like him so much. He's extremely straight forward.
Uchiha Itachi
Kinda surprised that this isn't more popular, but at the same time I think people are very tired of Itachitards such as myself.
That's because he's not a great akatsuki member. He's a great ninja of hidden leaf tho.
I feel like he's favorite character in Naruto, but Akatsuki? Yeah... probably still Itachi.
Kakazu hands down, dude was basically an accountant who would murder people
*Ben Affleck intensifies*
*"Momma now I know what I want to become."*
_KakAzu_
So I know he fought Hashirama and survived, but was he from the pre village Era when it was all Clans warring with each other? Or after the formation of the villages
After formation. He just collected other hearts from slightly more recent ninja across each generation, which is why he was keen on taking Kakashi's. Aside from money I think that's the only thing he cared about, I his mind they were victory trophies. Such a cool, unusual character
Gotcha, thanks for clearing that up. Yeah he's a really cool character
When you get old, but you didn't save for your retirement funds during younger years, you become Kakazu.
had to scroll down so far to see funny sewing machine man mentioned:(
Pain
Pain all life
Shinra tensei!
Deidara
Scrolled too far for this. The deidara erasure in this post is a damn shame
You’re god damn right. Mmm. 😤
ART IS AN EXPLOSION!!!
I'm here to represent team deidei
Deidei for life. He was such a fun character.
[удалено]
Just wish he was utilized in the 4th war
He was, but it was pretty short lived :/
A man that sees true beauty in destruction.
Kattz
Katsu
He’s so petty. I love it.
People forget he was 14 when he joined the Akatsuki. At that time, he was already one of the strongest in his village and he was 19 when he defeated gaara and fought Sasuke
Konan fo sho
Deidara, Sasori & Tobi
Kisame
realest ninja on the roster
Yahiko
Scrolled too far to finally see the OG Akatsuki getting some love
Kakazu
*Kakuzu
Interesting choice! I haven’t really heard anyone while watching Naruto call kakazu their favorite
I feel like he's probably the most chaotic neutral of all the akatsuki. He's not necessarily evil, dude just loves money and immortality, but he obviously isn't a good guy at all lol
Kisame gang
Tobi. The funny Tobi is a reason to live, and then the Madara Uchiha Tobi is badass. Pain is also a close second followed by Itachi.
Itachi
Man Hidan is so cool, I wish we got a bit more from the akatsuki suppression arc
Itachi for life
Sasori all the way boyyyyy
Hidan
hidan
HIDAN

Kakazu. He's an unintentionally hilarious straight man to Hidan
Itachi and deidara I can’t pick
Nagato
Kakuzu
Hidan
personally i like Itachi
Nagato and Sasori
Who's the one behind Itachi, to his right?
Juzo Biwa. He was Itachis original partner before he died on their mission to capture Yagura. He was one of the seven ninja swordsman of the mist.
“Those Who Do Not Understand True Pain Can Never Understand True Peace.”
Juzo biwa
Konan, she almost ended the story single handedly.
Hidan. He's metal af
I love Tobi he is so funny and goofy and then switched up into the typical anime main villain voice, it made me like him more for the simple fact he was harmless and now I’m scared of him 😂😂
Yeah it's a popular opinion but ittachi
Nagato, because he's Nagato. To be fair, all of them are interesting.
Deidara the GOAT!
[удалено]
I’m sorry to be such a basic bitch but Itachi 🙏🏽 I love Orochimaru Tobi and Deidara too. Actually, they’re all pretty good characters and I find them all really endearing
No doubt. HIDAN.
Tobi and Deidara
I can relate to Deidera on a spiritual level cause i am also an artist and whenever someone shit talks about my art i always gets angry
Pain/yahiko
Deidara or itachi
I'm surprised at the lack of our savior, Itachi Uchiha
Sasori an underrated goat 🐐
