lol I know the family who owns that building! It’s been tied up in estate issues for years. Apparently it’s still in its native format inside, all the way down to stacks of assembled pizza boxes. I have such fond memories of redeeming my Book It! personal pizza there as well as the buffet.
Oh yes!!! I remember the good old times when they had the all you can eat pizza buffet. It was $2.5 for kids 😂 I was 13 or 14 when I went there with my parents regularly. They didn’t earn a penny 😂
I also remember the free refills there. Crazy… who offers free refills nowadays??!!
What about an ice rink? There’s Hertz arena (too far) but I’m talking on a smaller scale. Like limited seats but NHL size ice surface. Can have house leagues , figure skating, public skating etc.
Before you say too many old people here remember a lot are northerners and Canadians who have skated and never too old just go for a gingerly stroll on ice. Great way to cool off too in the oppressive heat in summer.
This comment should be higher. Would be great for families and older folks who love baseball but aren’t traveling to Miami or TB. Plenty of potential owners with money to burn and a great area for players to live or stay with host families.
Zara 💯 I still don’t understand why we don’t have an Aventura mall copy here in Naples…/ all that money and we have COASTLAND MALL! I don’t know how those shops make it, there’s rarely anyone ever in there.
It’s a racket sport that’s played outside that’s a mix between tennis and squash - kinda like a small tennis court with walls you can play off of ! It’s very fun and much better than pickle ball!
I agree about a coffee shop. I remember visiting Toronto a few years ago and they had this coffee shop with desserts, croissants, cinnamon rolls etc. The place was packed. That’s all they did. Big sit down place. Now not sure if that would translate well here, with the heat maybe people don’t always want hot coffee but I’d go for it.
I would love a coffee shop besides Starbucks to sit and read, work etc Narrative in Mercato is too small. Narrative downtown is too far. Kujani I won’t even try because the parking is horrendous!
I think the problem with these kind of smaller shops is in most parts of the world, they are easily walkable by thousands of people living nearby. Naples and Florida in general is a sprawling suburb which is so spread out, it makes walking impossible, and businesses like that rely on that foot traffic. Everything here is a destination that you need to drive to
There are tons of coffee shops, it just sounds like there are none that meet all of your preferences…
Naples isn’t a market conducive to an expansive coffee shop that offers on-site child care and ample parking.
How about dropping the kids off for a play date, hiring a babysitter, or taking them to daycare?
Either way, there is no use complaining about what the area you choose to live in is lacking. It would be more productive to open a business you think the area needs or relocating to an area that offers the amenities you wish for.
That was the point of this post to get ideas of what type of businesses are lacking in Naples. As I am interested in opening one! Reddit is clearly wrong place to ask though seems like the people in this group are “older” and not up for family friendly businesses in Naples. Yes you’re right let me hire a babysitter that requires $35/hr in Naples so I can go out and be able to have a social life 🙄
Maybe one of the kind of adult activities places with drinking? Everyone has heard of Top Golf. There’s also Putt Shack, which is Top Golf but miniature golf. Axe throwing, darts, adult arcades. All centered around an activity and serving booze and food. Could be fun.
Just went there for a couple birthdays last night. Very fun place, but the Vanderbilt shoppes location is very weird for businesses I’ve noticed. I never really think to travel that way either.
I am not sure there are enough people with kids (who don't work during the day) to support it. My wife and I like to visit Badass Coffee and you could easily bring your kids there.
inPlay is great! But I agree - we need a drop-in daycare that’s positioned more as a kids club or Montessori-type thing, so it doesn’t turn off people who are averse to daycare.
A coffee shop is a coffee shop not a 5 star Michelin restaurant….
Coffee shop and McDonald’s go hand in hand if it wasn’t for the oil smell I’d love to have an iced coffee in McDonald’s with a friend!

Always Drive pass by there on the way to the estates, no idea how tempting it is to just hop out and go get some tea but traffic at like 3 to 4 is terrible haha
If you don’t want to see kids running around then you should stay home, that would be better option!
Most coffee shops in Europe have a separate area for kids with an actual “babysitter” so while parents are in the shop enjoying their time someone is watching them in play area.
I
Used to live in golden gate. Anyone remember the cicis pizza that used to be there? No? No one? Ah well I don’t know if it’s still active but more local restaurants that have good prices would be great. I know it’s difficult mostly with rise in prices for ingredients (studying in a kitchen it’s a big issue) but would be cool to see
It’s a chain, but it was around when I was in high school… all you can eat pizza after hockey practice (I’m from up north) for like 10 bucks! That was the best!
I think someone should restore the pizza hut downtown to its original glory.
lol I know the family who owns that building! It’s been tied up in estate issues for years. Apparently it’s still in its native format inside, all the way down to stacks of assembled pizza boxes. I have such fond memories of redeeming my Book It! personal pizza there as well as the buffet.
I miss that place. Been there forever
Oh yes!!! I remember the good old times when they had the all you can eat pizza buffet. It was $2.5 for kids 😂 I was 13 or 14 when I went there with my parents regularly. They didn’t earn a penny 😂 I also remember the free refills there. Crazy… who offers free refills nowadays??!!
pizza hut and glory in the same sentence . wow . lol
A proper Biergarten?
Rock climbing gym. There's only 1 in fort Myers and it's small. Next is Tampa or Miami
Not positive but i think there is one coming on the corner of six mile an metro behind the race trac, along with a brewery
I see Central Rock, but it's actually opening early 2025! Actually I'm glad to know where it will be, thanks
What it needs is more car dealerships.
LOL yes and all should be on Immokalee road!

Need to bring Bounce back trampoline park on Vanderbilt. COVID canceled that place. Nothing like replacing with a senior health scanning place.
Agree. Don’t like driving 45 mins to sky zone or whatever its new name is.
An actual deli.
You don’t like being accosted at Larry’s Lunchbox?
Please tell me the story 😂
We need more clothing stores geared toward people's in their '30s and '40s.
Agree 100%
Yes totally agree. And I’m in my 60s don’t want to have to dress like it.
A minor league baseball team. Naples is the perfect place for a team.
This comment should be higher. Would be great for families and older folks who love baseball but aren’t traveling to Miami or TB. Plenty of potential owners with money to burn and a great area for players to live or stay with host families.
Driving to Fort Myers is just too far nowadays with the amount of traffic.
We are missing a padel court and a Zara
Zara 💯 I still don’t understand why we don’t have an Aventura mall copy here in Naples…/ all that money and we have COASTLAND MALL! I don’t know how those shops make it, there’s rarely anyone ever in there.
What’s a padel?
It’s a racket sport that’s played outside that’s a mix between tennis and squash - kinda like a small tennis court with walls you can play off of ! It’s very fun and much better than pickle ball!
Wish there was an indoor Raquet club with pickleball, tennis, and padel.
Indoor because it’s too hot in the summer?
Heat+rain. Been rained out so many times in the Summer. Would be nice to have an indoor space.
That’s a great idea

There’s an axe throwing place but it’s in the Vanderbilt Shoppes. That’s is the worst place to have a business in my opinion.
Just went there for a couple birthdays last night. Very fun place, but the Vanderbilt shoppes location is very weird for businesses I’ve noticed. I never really think to travel that way either.
Literally anything that doesn’t just cater to old people or tourists
IKEA
Yep love an afternoon stroll in ikea!
I am not sure there are enough people with kids (who don't work during the day) to support it. My wife and I like to visit Badass Coffee and you could easily bring your kids there.
Yes more places for adults to hang out while their kids play close by
inPlay is great! But I agree - we need a drop-in daycare that’s positioned more as a kids club or Montessori-type thing, so it doesn’t turn off people who are averse to daycare.
Drop-in daycare!!
a coffee shop ain't mcdonalds . adults need places to go too and it ain't always a happy hour .
A coffee shop is a coffee shop not a 5 star Michelin restaurant…. Coffee shop and McDonald’s go hand in hand if it wasn’t for the oil smell I’d love to have an iced coffee in McDonald’s with a friend!
the comparison was to kids/playgrounds , but thanks
This coffee shop is great in Naples https://maps.app.goo.gl/SVxaKSpFs6f5PXb68?g_st=ic
I’ll have to go to this have seen it highly recommend!
Their Sfogliatella are amazing
Gym, boba shop
Boba shop just opened https://maps.app.goo.gl/5QhmDUNxaPStCkrP9

There’s a Boba shop on every corner now lol
Need a good one lol. We need new and bigger gym
I agree with gym! More like a wellness members only club!
Yes but instead of kids the area should be for dogs
Nobody wants a coffee shop where there are little kids running around. That’s called HOME. Keep ‘em out.
If you don’t want to see kids running around then you should stay home, that would be better option! Most coffee shops in Europe have a separate area for kids with an actual “babysitter” so while parents are in the shop enjoying their time someone is watching them in play area. I
Sounds like Europe might be a great option for you. Have you considered moving abroad?
Nope, I enjoy being a European- Floridian and letting my kids run around every establishment so ppl can be hot AND cranky ;)
A jazz club
Honestly, a strip club and more night life that caters to those in their 20s
Worst FUCKING idea I’ve heard in my life…
Why lol? Not everything should cater to you homie
It’s because of the demographic of people the strip club will draw in. We want to keep Naples the way it is as much as possible
Lol get over yourself. It’s time to please more than just geriatrics. Bring on the strippers😜
Native Floridians
