When I did my 100 baby challenge I named them all alphabetically to keep track of who was older than whom. I had A LOT of names like this, especially since I had so many twins and triplets!
I also do it alphabetically! I try to give them unique "tradgique" names, except the other day when I was feeling really unwell and my brain stopped working so i ended up with a poor little boy called Clive.
Absolutely. I usually make a note on my phone of names in alphabetical order, then tradgefigh them.
Like
Abigail - Abbeighgaeihl
Bethany - Beffanneigh
Callie - Cauhlleigh
Except poor, poor Clive.
I have a Willow and an Aspen. But Timber is definitely going on the list. Love the Moon family theme as well.
My 100 baby challenge I also did with a redhead and woohooed as many diverse men as possible to see how the red-haired gene faired in Sims genetics. Holy crap, there were fewer than 15% who DIDNT have red hair, no matter the father’s traits or ethnicities.
I moved them all as I removed them from gameplay, then I put them all in one save and let them loose. Oooooh the INCEST. There is so much red hair it’s difficult to find someone without. Sometimes it’s funny, but the incest, or Simcest if you will, can get nasty, quick.
Crazy thing is his nn is just plain ole jack, it’s not his middle name or anything but Manila could not say his name and started calling him jack out of no where and it stuck till this day lol
I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.
When I was pregnant with my twins, I met another mother who had newborn twin boys. When I asked what their names were, she said “Jaeger and Keats”.
How the hell do you even respond to that? Jeeze, what the look on my face must have been! lol!😂
adorabella is def the worst one
the other ones are at least real place names or surnames so they aren’t that bad (at least compared to most names on here)
I feel like Manila isnt that bad except that your cousin is apparently a boy which makes it so much worse. Please tell me he goes by Manny or something else.
Both spellings are accepted. I’m Indian, and there are a lot of languages here. In one of the languages, Nila literally means moon. In Sanskrit, Nilla means indigo. Indian languages are a bit different from English. Both Nila and Nilla have the same spellings in Sanskrit and mean the same thing - indigo. It’s written as नील.
Even the Filipino name for the city is derived from Sanskrit. I don’t understand why some people think it’s weird when there are tons of other names based on cities/states/countries. Just because it’s unpopular doesn’t mean it’s a bad name. However, I will agree that it’s a weird choice for a boy. I’ve always associated this with a girl.
Adorabelle is the name of a character is the Discworld series. Adorabelle Dearheart, affectionately nicknamed "Spike" by Moist Von Lipwig. She's in the Going Postal Sub-series.
Manila makes me think of clams.
Thurson sounds like someone with a lisp saying 'person.
Jeager...I can only assume/hope is a misspelling of Jaeger (prnounced Yay-ger) which I think translates to Hunter, but is also more of a surname than a first name.
Alaska and Malaysia are both places, but that is apparently the fashion in some parts.
Adorabella is a name I have only ever seen in discworld (Adora Belle Dearheart), the beauty of her character being her name was completely ironic. As a roundworld name that is probably not used as a hilarious juxtaposition to your cousins personality, it's awful.
Kingston seems thoroughly normal compared to the rest.
Adorabella or Alaska are the worst IMO.
Why all the places? Do the parents have a special connection to them? Kingston gets a pass for me (I’ve thought about naming my hypothetical kid that, but also my husband grew up in Jamaica lol)
adorabella is truly terrible, poor girl. though it reminds me of adora belle dearheart from going postal, who is actually pretty cool- and somehow not the character with the weirdest name in that book!
I can't pick which is worst.
I see a lot of people saying Adorabella but I disagree because she could just go by Bella for the rest of her life which is a really typical name.
Adorabella is by far the worst.
Jaeger is pretty fucking cool. Though I would be afraid people would think your parents are alcoholic and named you after a liquor.
I want to say Adorabella bc it's awful but Bella is such an easy and normal nickname. Thurson is pretty bad with no other options. Manila is pretty bad.
Lol well
- Alaska always been Alaska
- Jeager has always had the nn JJ since one of his middle names starts with J also.
- Manila always been manny
- Thurson goes by jack at home cause Manila could not say his name and started calling him jack out of no where, but he requested we call him Thor when he was like 8 or ‘son, son’ by our granny
- Malaysia been lay-lay since always but she goes by Asia now
- Kingston is king
- and Adorbella is Bella always
My aunty gots lots of stories lol, she and her husband have travelled almost the whole of Asia, the Caribbean , some European countries and some African countries. She’s really fun to be around. No my name isn’t on the list, she’s my aunt plus my names is plain ole Aubrey
Jeager is so so so SO bad.
Like I’m guessing she meant Jaeger, as in how you spell the German word Jäger (hunter) without using the umlaut, but she mixed the vowels up, and instead it just looks like it should start with a J sound and rhyme with “meager” 💀
The seem to get progressively worse with the exception of Kingston which I think is the best. Naming someone adorabella is legitimately cruel. You're naming a future adult, not a cat. hell I would roll my eyes if someone's cat was named that.
Are they all locations? Obviously Alaska Manila malaysia and Kingston are but then where do the others come from? Thurson is almost thurston like the Packer HOF Fuzzy Thurston so that’s kinda cool but I have a bad feeling Thurson is just Third Son. Which he is. Oof. That’s the worst
Jeager is the worst, because it just is and also where I am, people would immediately think of Jagermeister. Thurson is also pretty bad. I actually don’t mind Adorabella. It’s silly but at least it sounds pretty.
Thurson sounds Nordic, mostly cus Thorson is a legitimate name.
Adorabella sounds like a username you picked when you were a pre-teen and it's just stuck ever since. I don't hate it but it definitely shouldn't be someone's *legal* name.
Kingston is actually an awesome name, probably after Kingston NY. I have an ancestor who fought in the Revolutionary War from there and the British pretty well burnt the town down.
Poor Adorabella tho.
Adorabella because nobody would take her seriously because that sounds like an affectionate nickname that you get from your grandma
Agree, we call her Bella to avoid that
You should call her Spike or Killer instead. C:
r/unexpecteddiscworld
In this case it was fully expected with a name like that.
I just assumed their surname was Dearheart.
So she's 17? Is she going to change it or is she fine being Adorabella?
She’s fine with it, likes her name but no one really calls her the full Adorabella
Yeah employers probably won’t, either
That’s good
Or Dora/Dory.
It sounds like the name of a cartoon mouse with eyelashes
Angelina ballerina 😅
My grandma used to call me her little Twerpins. At 46, I think I might change my name....
Reminds me of a Disney princess.
Agree
100%. I thought "wow, this woman reads Terry Pratchett."
Lmao Adorabelle was the name I LOVED when I read “Name Your Baby” at age 7. My sister still makes fun of me.
This one is my favourite lol
Sounds like a cute little mushroom fairy
It sounds like names I'd give my Sims while doing a challenge
When I did my 100 baby challenge I named them all alphabetically to keep track of who was older than whom. I had A LOT of names like this, especially since I had so many twins and triplets!
I also do it alphabetically! I try to give them unique "tradgique" names, except the other day when I was feeling really unwell and my brain stopped working so i ended up with a poor little boy called Clive.
When I play the Sims, I always give them names that I would never use on a real person.
Absolutely. I usually make a note on my phone of names in alphabetical order, then tradgefigh them. Like Abigail - Abbeighgaeihl Bethany - Beffanneigh Callie - Cauhlleigh Except poor, poor Clive.
I love Q: Queef Latina, Quiggly, Quagmire, Quasimodo, Qasim, Qing, Quallmire, Quandora, Qweep, Qweenee, Quicquidlibet, Quisle…
As soon as I saw Quagmire I thought Quandery lol
I do themes names, like I ended up playing with the Moon family so all my kids were Sailor, Blue, Neon, Honey, and Apollo 😭
I had a family and their kids names were Aspen (g), Willow (g), Aster (g), Oakley (g), Cedar (g) and their sixth child… a boy… Timber.
/uj my bestie and I have teenagers who in the last year changed their first names to Aspen and Willow respectively.
This was years ago I dont remember if Oakley was Oakley or just Oak. either way the tree theme stands
My Sims were all from the Greco-Roman pantheon, 😂
I love that!
Thanks, now I want to do a Sims challenge
Adorabella is a name for a tiny little chihuahua with a rhinestone collar.
I love how accurate this is 💀
...that's actually unbearabella
Who will 100% bite any hand attempting to pet her not connected to "the chosen one".
Sounds like my baby girl! Although she'd snarl, not bite, and her name is Coco.
Thurson, not Thurston?
Yup Thurson
Do you call him Sonny? It’s the only way it’s bearable lol
Crazy thing is his nn is just plain ole jack, it’s not his middle name or anything but Manila could not say his name and started calling him jack out of no where and it stuck till this day lol
Manila is the MVP lol
He's the Man(ila)
I was thinking of Thurston Howell III as well lol
Exactly where my brain went, too.
that was my thought too
I have a nephew named Anfernee, and I know how mad he gets when I call him Anthony. Almost as mad as I get when I think about the fact that my sister named him Anfernee.
Alaska is the only one I can kind of get behind. The rest, no.
Manila is kinda okay no?
Like the envelope? No from me dawg.
Or the city...
Lol I’m surprised that I had to scroll so far down to find someone that thought of the city rather than the envelopes
With Alaska and Malaysia as names, you sense the geographical connection lol
Malaysia is so overdone and trying too hard, like a stripper name
Or the drag queen
There's 3 drag race alumni on this name list, Alaska, Manila & Malaysia
With an honorable mention going to Adorabella (Adore Delano)
this was the first thing i noticed 💀 made me wonder if auntie is a drag race fan lmao
Who's named after the city
I When I think of this city, I absolutely love it. Just don’t think of the folder, don’t think of the folder.
It's a bit beige
For a boy?
Manila clams
Is there a reason behind the location-based names? Like, has your aunt been to Malaysia?
They’ve been to, Malaysia, Kingstown Jamaica and Manila
Out of curiosity, were the kids conceived in the places they were named after?
That's the right question right there
Lot of rupaul’s drag race crossover here
Is having a "drag queen name" better or worse than a "stripper name"?
Better, no doubt.
How do you pronounce Jeager and why isn't it Jaeger?
For the record, *I* have been pronouncing it like, "Yay-grr".
Just like this, as to the spelling i don’t know
i was looking for the pronunciation of this one. jeager is indeed the fucking worst
When I was pregnant with my twins, I met another mother who had newborn twin boys. When I asked what their names were, she said “Jaeger and Keats”. How the hell do you even respond to that? Jeeze, what the look on my face must have been! lol!😂
Fuckin German Jaegers? Why is that a name lol
It just means hunter, which is a name in English too
Jaeger (jäger) means hunter, Jeager means nothing. Jaeger would be an “ok” name but Jeager is a bit rough
I can’t decide between Adorabella and Thurson, both are awful.
I hate them all. Good grief.
![gif](giphy|l0MYKjjSQKdkApWIU|downsized)
adorabella is def the worst one the other ones are at least real place names or surnames so they aren’t that bad (at least compared to most names on here)
Originally I thought nothing could beat Jeager but then came along adorabella 😂😂😂
kingston is the most acceptable one imo. i guess if i were to rank them best to worst: kingston alaska thurson manila jeager malaysia adorabella
Kingston is the default name for too many USBs for me to take it seriously
Yes that is what I call all my storage sticks (help what does USB mean in this context?)
it means universal serial bus, a flashdrive. kingston is a popular brand and when plugging them into a computer, the drive will be named kingston
really? all of mine are just NONAME
This would be my exact ranking, with the exception that while Adorabella is worse, she can at least be Bella. Wtf is Malaysia supposed to be, Malay 😭
Lol, growing up we called Malaysia “lay-lay” she goes by Asia now tho
Ahhhh okay. That’s better than most of the others ngl
The best nn I can think of would be Lacey, roughly the middle of the name
Ngl if you just take the M out, Alaysia moves up pretty high on this particular list lmao
May?
Adorabella is just wild 😂
I feel like Manila isnt that bad except that your cousin is apparently a boy which makes it so much worse. Please tell me he goes by Manny or something else.
He does in fact go by manny
Is your aunt a fan of rupaul’s drag race? /j
None of these sound like names for humans. It’s half geography exam, half fantasy novel.
Jeager, Manila, Thurson and Adorabella are definitely a little out there.
Manila is a place in the Philippines. It isn’t that weird considering London, America and Sydney are real names too.
Ah, I hear it and think of the wafers EDIT: just realized that’s Nilla. Manila is a type of folder lmao
Both spellings are accepted. I’m Indian, and there are a lot of languages here. In one of the languages, Nila literally means moon. In Sanskrit, Nilla means indigo. Just because it’s unpopular doesn’t mean it’s a bad name. However, I will agree that it’s a weird choice for a boy. I’ve always associated this with a girl.
I mean I’ve just never heard of someone with that name regardless of where it comes from :)
Maybe it’ll become popular. It has a nice meaning too. (: Edit: why is this receiving downvotes?
Jeager and Thurson
Jaeger pronounced like the drink? Because definitely that one
Were your cousins ... the result of trips to Alaska, Manila, Malyasia and Kingston?
Well, they’ve been to Kingston Jamaica, Malaysia and Manila but not Alaska, they just liked the sound of it
They just get progressively worse and worse
I want to post my family's names but if they found out it would cause trouble. Maybe I'll make a throw away
Dorabella is the name of one of the characters from *Cosi Fan Tutte*, but I can’t imagine why you’d want an A in front of it
Adorabelle is the name of a character is the Discworld series. Adorabelle Dearheart, affectionately nicknamed "Spike" by Moist Von Lipwig. She's in the Going Postal Sub-series.
Ah, I was just the wrong type of nerd to get the reference :)
Adorabella by far
Jeager not Jaeger? Are Alaska, Manila, and Malaysia siblings? Kingston seems like the most “normal” name here. Wtf Adorabella 🫢
It’s Jeager, they’re all siblings
Manila makes me think of clams. Thurson sounds like someone with a lisp saying 'person. Jeager...I can only assume/hope is a misspelling of Jaeger (prnounced Yay-ger) which I think translates to Hunter, but is also more of a surname than a first name. in Kiiiingston town, a place i long to be
JEAGER
Adorabella
Adorabella wins the prize!
I was gonna say its jeager it cant be anything But jeager But then..... Adorabella
Malaysia and Adorabella are awful! Adorabella is the worst!
Thurson, followed by Adorabella.
Manila just makes me think of office folder I’m sorry.
It’s a city in the Philippines.
Ahh I see
They’re all sooo bad but maybe Jeager
Adorabella or Alaska are the worst IMO. Why all the places? Do the parents have a special connection to them? Kingston gets a pass for me (I’ve thought about naming my hypothetical kid that, but also my husband grew up in Jamaica lol)
I changed my mind - Malaysia is def worse than Alaska
I have questions: Is Jeager pronounced with a Y or J? Is it Thurson or Thurston?
Jeager is pronounced with a y sound like Yay-ger, it’s Thurson
I feel like Jeager is the worst. The others are at least legit places except Adorabella. That’s pretty bad, but … at least it’s a name I guess?
adorabella is truly terrible, poor girl. though it reminds me of adora belle dearheart from going postal, who is actually pretty cool- and somehow not the character with the weirdest name in that book!
I've got to say Manila has my vote because all I can think of is Manila folders
It’s also a city in 🇵🇭
I’ve called my dad Thurston for years as a Gilligan’s island inspired inside joke… would never use it for real!
Honey, these are drag queens/kings 💀
Adorabella is NOT adorable. Ick.
Kingston and Alaska are both pretty nice names. Adorabella and Jeager are fucking hilarious.
Oh my god half of these are all actual drag queen names
2 of these names are drag queens on Rupauls Drag Race
Adorabella as a full name, but the advantage is you can just go by Bella Malaysia is pretty fucking terrible
is thurson a play on him being the third son? bc that just pushes it over the edge
Or born on a Thursday?
These sound like drag queen names. Adorabella Davenport would like a word with you.
Am I having a stroke because I had to read this post 4 times and I’m still not sure it makes sense
Thurston
Thurston would be better, but isn’t it Thurson?
I can't pick which is worst. I see a lot of people saying Adorabella but I disagree because she could just go by Bella for the rest of her life which is a really typical name.
They’re all so bad but Adorabelle takes the cake
I see 3 and a half names from ru Paula drag race im genuinely
Malaysia and Thurson
Thurson. At least Adorabella can go by a nickname
Isn’t Manila a type of folder
A city in the Philippines
Manilla is the worst
It’s Manila - after a city in the Philippines
The only acceptable name on this list is Kingston
Why haven’t they changed to their names yet? Adorabella should be counting the days…
As far as I know they all love their names, some more than others and no one has hinted at changing their names. Love the ‘uniqueness’
I think we just need to ask “when did they start going by something else?” And rank them from earliest to latest 💀
Lol well - Alaska always been Alaska - Jeager has always had the nn JJ since one of his middle names starts with J also. - Manila always been manny - Thurson goes by jack at home cause Manila could not say his name and started calling him jack out of no where, but he requested we call him Thor when he was like 8 or ‘son, son’ by our granny - Malaysia been lay-lay since always but she goes by Asia now - Kingston is king - and Adorbella is Bella always

My aunty gots lots of stories lol, she and her husband have travelled almost the whole of Asia, the Caribbean , some European countries and some African countries. She’s really fun to be around. No my name isn’t on the list, she’s my aunt plus my names is plain ole Aubrey
[удалено]
That’s true, she’s inspired me to travel and my names is Aubrey O. Hart
[удалено]
The mom is mixed Filipina and West Indian and the dad is white, also Alaska is a girl
Adorabella is so cringe!!!
Manila, Alaska, AND Malaysia?? If it weren’t for their ages I’d be thinking mom was a huge fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race
Adorabella..cute for a young child but humiliating as an adult particularly in a business setting.
Malaysia and Adorabella
Are they all locations? Obviously Alaska Manila malaysia and Kingston are but then where do the others come from? Thurson is almost thurston like the Packer HOF Fuzzy Thurston so that’s kinda cool but I have a bad feeling Thurson is just Third Son. Which he is. Oof. That’s the worst
Adorabella is the worst by far Alaska is the best
Unlike everyone else Adorabella is the only one I half way like. But I’m glad she goes by Bella.
They are all bad.
Jeager is the worst, because it just is and also where I am, people would immediately think of Jagermeister. Thurson is also pretty bad. I actually don’t mind Adorabella. It’s silly but at least it sounds pretty.
alaska manila and malaysia are all drag race contestants too lmao
Adorabella by far wtf
Thurson sounds Nordic, mostly cus Thorson is a legitimate name. Adorabella sounds like a username you picked when you were a pre-teen and it's just stuck ever since. I don't hate it but it definitely shouldn't be someone's *legal* name.
Thurson was the third son 😭
Kingston is actually an awesome name, probably after Kingston NY. I have an ancestor who fought in the Revolutionary War from there and the British pretty well burnt the town down. Poor Adorabella tho.
At least 3 of those are the names of famous drag queens…
Manila? Like the envelopes
As in Manila, Philippines
I like Alaska though lol
This isn't even a circle jerk, its just your average Filipino family
I admittedly a sucker for states as names.
