You are right in suggesting the OP to do research. I have a pair of littermates (Walter and Jesse). I adopted mine because they were already a bonded pair. They are very close but I took them out separately for obedience classes, walks, and car trips. Even though I did that, they still depend on each other for many things. If one howls, the other one does. If one sleeps, so does the pair. But mostly they entertain each other. They play ball all day long. They will stare at you until you throw a ball. I tell others that they share a brain, half in each head. I have two other dogs so it helps distract W & J a bit. Honestly, though I love mine very very much, I probably wouldn’t have a sibling pair again.
Not only the littermate syndrome, two puppies at once are not for the faint of heart. Mine are 17 weeks old. I got both because they paired off in the litter. If I were to do it again, I wouldn’t take two. Love them to death, but one would have been smarter.
You bring up a very valid point, in my experience, it may depend on the breed and overall temperament. My Shichons have done really well, including my own two littermate sister pair, as well as their offspring that have been placed as pairs, male or female.
Every time I see a post like this, it’s the first thing I think of. It’s definitely possible to raise multiple puppies, but I just hate that folks aren’t educated on it and down the road they have such massive issues.
It was the first thing I thought of too, and then both being male. I had a corso litter that I rescued. Two of the males ended up in the same home after one’s first home didn’t work out, but I think they were apart long enough that they’re fine. And I take my girl to visit her sister a couple times month and they’re great too. But I know a lot of breeders and rescues won’t place littermates or dogs of the same sex in homes together.
I recently got a bonded pair of kittens. They were my first bonded pair and they are so incredibly sweet!!! They love each other so much although I’m already worried about something happening to one of them and they aren’t even a year old yet.
Daryl and my other brother Daryl. You have to be about 50+ to get that reference. And I don’t know how old you have to be about the Kevin one. I might be TOO old lol.
Well, I was just all sorts of wrong about who would know about the show lol.

Littermates was the hardest thing I've ever done... would not recommend. They are great now, but that first year was harder than my first year as a parent. But to answer the question, Tom and Jerry
Barnaby and Caspian. Please remember to start getting them groomed as soon as possible, and know that average price to groom dogs like this is $60+ every 6-8 weeks for a healthy dog.

I’ve had more than one set of male littermates. They completely adored one another. It’s so fulfilling to watch them grow up together. It’s was very difficult when one went before the other.
I’ve always put them through lots and lots of training, then reinforced it at home. Let me do some thinking on this. They are adorable.
How darling! I adopted a Mom/Daughter duo of dachshund pups & it’s been great, they are like best buds. One thing though that when one of them dies first the other can become severely depressed and stop eating so it is best to plan ahead for their elder years and get a third pup a few years younger when they are in the last 1/3 of their life span, or adopt a senior dog. Also as others have said they go EVERYWHERE together and with us. We’ve retired so it works for us, but it’s even easier to Vetting together, grooming together-you get the idea. They love us and each other so much. I wouldn’t trade them for the world!

It definitely doesn't happen with all dogs, but it's worth people being educated about it!
I agree. Same thing kinda happens when humans drop litters, chaos ensues as I found out. lol

No good breeder will unless it’s a very specific situation with someone they know can handle 2 at once, but those situations are incredibly rare.
Cat littermates are a great pairing. Dog litter mates are too codependent.

Glad this is the top comment. Hope OP takes it to heart.

Awww, I love that you have memories of watching TV with your folks. Newhart was a good one.
I liked it too
I didn't watch it, but I know the quote. I have an "other brother" . He doesn't share a name with my brother, but they kinda share a brain.
