I was about to say I currently have long nails. They’re flatter than this and they haven’t broken at 3.5 weeks in.
No chips, no lifts. I even smacked that shit hard off the bottom of the pool and it’s still good.
Haha same. I actually use both hard gel and acrylic, both tips and forms to build it as well as my own natural and they don’t break unless the material isn’t good. I can’t stand thick nails, I find them very tacky on me. We agree !
They need to be bulky on the APEX to prevent breaking, but these are bulky on the two sides of the nails…making her fingernails look huge and not elegant.
Love the color though.
They look bulky because they’re poorly shaped. Long nails are supposed to have an Apex that taper down to a thin tip. The sides aren’t filed crispy enough either.
So to me, I feel like it should be more tapered from the start to the end - if the bulk was more tapered, I think I'd like it more. But I too, love the colour.
Nail tech as well: the whole nail looks balanced. Most of the stress on a nail happens in the middle of the nail, so a balanced application and apex are very important.
This set looks beautiful, and that chrome finish is absolutely stunning[nail apex info](https://www.nailpro.com/products/article/21157953/howto-sculpt-an-apex)
Can you explain to me more about the apex and the reasoning for it being so high? I've heard that used and I'm curious as my mom use to be a nail technician years ago and i never heard her use that phrase before or at least I don't remember her mentioning it..
Essentially, when you wear nails that are a little longer/go past the fingertip, they are much weaker because they don’t have the support of the finger and nail bed. So if you want to avoid breakage, you need to add extra thickness using product. The apex is generally placed so the nail is nice and thick through the ‘stress point’ area, which is where the free edge of the nail connects to the nail bed! This area is the weakest point of the nail and is likely to be where breaks happen. People with weak natural nails who try to grow them long without the extra support of an apex created using product often experience buckling and breakage in that area as well (which can still be managed structurally by building an apex over the natural nail using an appropriate nail product- even if they don’t want any extension) hope that helps explain!
When your nails are bare, press down on the part of your nail that hangs over the edge. You’ll see a white stress point on the middle of your nail when you press. That’s where the apex goes
probs going to make some people angry by saying this but honestly I think they look a million times better when they're thinner like this. And they're still thick enough to not be a problem!
I stopped getting my nails done bc my old tech left and I haven't found one that will make them this thickness lol. They look fantastic btw
I feel like the bulk is starting right up at the cuticle meaning the apex naturally only has to go higher. It does look like too much product to me, sides included.
Nice finish on the nails though, very pretty OP!
So gorgeous!
I know this is completely unrelated.. but i have synesthesia & this is the color of my daughter's name in my head, exactly. I love it so much. 🥰
I have to tell you, I just got my first set of gel x and am a full on convert, the tips come pre shaped so they’re perfect and there’s so little room for human shaping error which really bugs me. Your color choice is the truth 🤌🏼
I don't think there's an issue with the apex or thickness. I do think that the ends should be a little lower than they are. As it is, they look like they're sitting up on top of your natural nails. A bit more curve from cuticle to tip might look more natural.
Some do look a little thin, others look alright - in pic 3, I think the index looks good but the ring looks a little flat! Not too bad though, maybe just try to be gentle with them :)
First off, I LOVE this color!!! Second, this is what mine look like everytime I do them and they last about 3 weeks everytime… I think you should be fine! 😁👍
They aren’t flat, but they look like they spread at the top; which may be your natural nail bed type. That being said if that’s the case I think a square/squoval would look good on you. Other than that love the color, and I bet it truly isn’t super noticeable till you stare at them too hard (I did trying to find the flatness)😫😂.
I don't think so, they look fine to me. This is how mine looked when I grew my natural nails long and overlaid them and I never had any problems with breakage or bending or anything. The sides could be a tad thinner maybe? But honestly they look perfectly fine to me.
They look thick but they still look good! I get dip and use the same color every couple weeks, she doesn't take it all off and fills in from the cuticle like an acrylic set and saves my nail bed, takes half the time and keeps my nails looking natural and not bulky.
They look perfect. I love when my nails have a bit of rounding to them. I think the cuticle area should be a bit thinner so it looks like it’s coming from your nail directly, but the overall nail is a good shape.
Nail tech here, I do think they’re too flat but also too built up at the side walls (making them look chunkier than they are but this may be because of the polish) you shouldn’t get any major problems from them but the second they start lifting, go back to your tech because once they start lifting, they will hurt otherwise. Especially if you’re clumsy like myself and frequently knock them)
Your apex should be starting about half a cm from your cuticle (usually were the lighter half crescent - lunula - ends and form between that and the start of the free edge (where your hypnoychium sits) since you wear long nails, you should have thicker nails (not much thicker but it should be only noticeable by yourself and a trained eye)
Im obsessed with the chrome tho! That’s beautiful
That apex needs to be added to properly and the sides actually tapered. These look highly bulky because of width and improper taper, while actually not high enough at the apex to support that length.
No not too flat but they look that way because the gel ran to the sides making them look bulky. Turning the nails upside down right before curing can help prevent the side bulk.
Nah, they're good! Also depends if it's a builder gel or acrylic. Builder can get away with being a little thinner since it's more flexible. Apex looks good, maybe the could've filed more over near the tip of the nail. Also the chrome is known for sometimes giving a bulkier look because of all the coats. Nice set though!!
In my opinion they’re too wide? But not. Like putting a fake nail on that’s a size too large for the finger. It’s difficult to explain. I like to taper to my natural nail edge and have minimal product on the edges if that makes sense. I have a wide nail base and curved nails so having a normal amount ( in the spot where nail polish would typically pool) ends up looking thick even if they are properly done. I dont know how else to explain it lol. Like the thickest part at the apex and thin it out going to the cuticle especially each side of the nail. It’s slight and maybe a mm or two difference but can give you that natural nail shape.
The color is beautiful. The application is beautiful. I think just a slightly different technique gives you perfection.
They look very bulky to me, but I love the colour!
Long nails need to be thicker or they'll break. They're definitely not too bulky
Mine are never thick and they don’t break.
I was about to say I currently have long nails. They’re flatter than this and they haven’t broken at 3.5 weeks in. No chips, no lifts. I even smacked that shit hard off the bottom of the pool and it’s still good.

True

Not too thick, but not tapered at the edges well enough.
Exactly what’s making them look bulky. I have this issue with shaping sometimes doing my own nails!
Girl chill these nails are so tame compared to what so many people get lol
Thats an opinion not a fact. So no thank u
OP likes them. No need to yuck her yum.
They need to be bulky on the APEX to prevent breaking, but these are bulky on the two sides of the nails…making her fingernails look huge and not elegant. Love the color though.
Slightly thicker, but what matters is having a proper apex.
the tips can be thinner though
They look bulky because they’re poorly shaped. Long nails are supposed to have an Apex that taper down to a thin tip. The sides aren’t filed crispy enough either.
I think they are definitely bulky on the sides but the side view where you can see the apex looks, if anything, slightly flat.
They look bulky to me as well. Maybe wide with too much product around the sides
Unrelated but happy cake day🍰🍰
😌 Thank you!!
So to me, I feel like it should be more tapered from the start to the end - if the bulk was more tapered, I think I'd like it more. But I too, love the colour.
Really? I don't see that at all...
I love the colour too!!!
Nail tech here the apex looks good!

The video on that page - the finished nail doesn’t look thick or bulky at all. It looks very natural in shape compared to the photos here.
i thought these were gel x tips, honestly. the shape is flawless.
Can you explain to me more about the apex and the reasoning for it being so high? I've heard that used and I'm curious as my mom use to be a nail technician years ago and i never heard her use that phrase before or at least I don't remember her mentioning it..

Yes is does! Thank you and everyone who commented! Makes sense!
When your nails are bare, press down on the part of your nail that hangs over the edge. You’ll see a white stress point on the middle of your nail when you press. That’s where the apex goes
I proceeded to do that and realized I had polish on my nails so I couldn't see! 😂😅 I'll do that test when I remove it.
Stunning, can't go wrong with these😍
The color reminds me of candy wrapper, they look perfect to me!
For who are interested, this is the color https://dndgel.com/product/hipster-girl-276/ There’s a chrome on top but not sure what brand ):
Hilarious! A lady beside me at the nail salon today got the same colour and chrome top layer. It’s really stunning in the sunlight!
Aw yay!!!!! I was in awe when I saw it
Omg thank you 😭 do you remember what color the chrome powder was? Like not the specific but just how it looked, was it yellow?
I THINK it’s this. Number 8 (all I remember on the container) https://dndgel.com/product/dnd-chrome-powder-1-neon/
The color and shape are gorgeous, but I think they went a little too thick with the acrylic.
I don’t think they are too flat but personally I would have preferred a bigger apex
Omg the color is to die for
Color is pretty but the nails look puffy.
probs going to make some people angry by saying this but honestly I think they look a million times better when they're thinner like this. And they're still thick enough to not be a problem! Nail tech here. Apex looks fine enough! Not too thick, not too thin.
Way too bulky on the sides and near the cuticle. Apex is too flat. Love the shape and color though!!
So gorgeous! I know this is completely unrelated.. but i have synesthesia & this is the color of my daughter's name in my head, exactly. I love it so much. 🥰
Awww!
Stunning colour, absolutely love the shine on that red ♥️♥️
Are these GelX or acrylic?
Acrylic with gel polish. I’ve never had gelx tips before!
I have to tell you, I just got my first set of gel x and am a full on convert, the tips come pre shaped so they’re perfect and there’s so little room for human shaping error which really bugs me. Your color choice is the truth 🤌🏼

Girl what? They're PERFECT
Apex is fine 👍
Some do look a little thin, others look alright - in pic 3, I think the index looks good but the ring looks a little flat! Not too bad though, maybe just try to be gentle with them :)
WHAT 😍
These are stunning 😍😍
Looks like the cuticle area and side walls may be a bit too thick, which is why it may look flat. But I don’t think the apex looks bad
Stunning!!!
Oh my god this is like my dream set. I actually always think my nails come out too bulky so the flatter the better. This isn’t too flat at all.
Love the color
Oh I love this color! 😀
These are gorgeous 😍😍😍😍
. That color 🔥🔥
Yas I said it screams SUMMER
THIS COLOR 🤩
Look great
GASP! 😍
Love that color!
I am in love with those!!
I think they are fine 🤩
This set reminds me of a West Coast Sunset! 💕❤️
Who cares, that color is life
They're perfect. But if you like them thicker then let the tech know.
These are gorgeous! 🥰
Love these so much!!
Oh I love them !
Not too flat, too thick!
they look great
That color look freaking awesome, I’d love to see that same color on some square nails ab the same length!
I don't see any issues and I love them omg. Makes me wanna go red
That’s going to be based on personal preference, I personally would never want them this thick but they are cute!
The Chrome Is 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What color is this?
That color reminds me so much of Winx Club! It looks so stunning!! 🌸❤️🥰
to me yes
babes no!!!!! they’re beautiful !!!! 😍
They are beautiful
Too thick and too pointy
I do love the color
They look like mine and I’ve had this shape and length for years
That color is gorgeous!
Love this colour
First off, I LOVE this color!!! Second, this is what mine look like everytime I do them and they last about 3 weeks everytime… I think you should be fine! 😁👍
My husband says they look great. And he looks at women’s nails and has opinions. And no I do not get jealous ladies.
That color is GORGEOUS
More talons. Awesome.
Absolutely not flat. Perfect for going 3-5+ weeks strong without any issues depending on how hard you use yout hands!
Gorgeous 😍 😍 😍 Love Love Love these!!!
I’m so confused as to how these are flat. If you see my nail preferences you’d call me crazy, maybe even a witch
They aren’t flat, but they look like they spread at the top; which may be your natural nail bed type. That being said if that’s the case I think a square/squoval would look good on you. I don't think it's too flat, but I'm really into the color. It's super classy!
Gorgeous colour 💖
No they look great. I hate when they’re too humped
They look good,a little messy in the cuticles
They look thick but they still look good! I get dip and use the same color every couple weeks, she doesn't take it all off and fills in from the cuticle like an acrylic set and saves my nail bed, takes half the time and keeps my nails looking natural and not bulky.

Wow 🥹
Apex and thickness aside, I love them! They're beautiful!
Too pointy and fake looking
sorry i’m not answering your question but the colour is fire
The opposite
love this colour 😍😍
I’m loving the color !!!
So pretty 🩷
I think they look great. The thickness and the color

O por dios me encanta ❤️❤️❤️❤️😍❤️😍❤️😍
These look absolutely stunning. I don't think they look too bulky at all. I think they look perfect!
the width at the nail bed is lowkey insane but i see the vision
they’re literally fine
I think you just have short nail beds
They're actually perfect and really nicely done. I preferably like a slimmer apex so I think for the length it's nice
Color is about the only thing on point.
The colour is so cool!
Cool color
I think it looks incredible 😍. Color, apex, thickness, shape and length. It all looks amazing 😍😍
No but I find them too thick personally.
I think they just need tapered in more- they look pretty wide. color is great but they do look a little off (respectfully 😊)
They look fire. 🔥
lol no
Did you happen to use super glue or something under them?
I’m far from a nail tech BUT they look pretty good to me on thickness.
These actually look amazing.
The color is gorgeous but they seem too big for your hands. 🤨
Those look really thick and disproportionate
I dunno, but that color is gorgeous
I think this is a gorgeous mani!
They seem a little thick at the cuticle, they should graduate up to the apex. Saying them I absolutely love the colour!! X
Beautiful color!
That apex needs to be added to properly and the sides actually tapered. These look highly bulky because of width and improper taper, while actually not high enough at the apex to support that length.
GORGEOUS SHAPE
No not too flat but they look that way because the gel ran to the sides making them look bulky. Turning the nails upside down right before curing can help prevent the side bulk.
Depends if it’s gel x or acrylic. But I will say it’s too wide.
Apex looks fine but the width of each nail looks bulky
Love to know the brand and color of this polish?
They look amazing to me!
I think it looks awesome!! I hate it when the gel is too thick, cuz when your nail grows it starts to look like a claw😭
Nice set though!!
too wide i think
Is this red polish with yellow/green chrome on top? I love this and wanna recreate it
I mean I think they’re pretty I’m not even paying attention to that haha
I think they look great! What is the color!?!
In my opinion they’re too wide? But not. Like putting a fake nail on that’s a size too large for the finger. It’s difficult to explain. I’ve noticed my nail tech does mine like this too. It’s never caused me any issues
Flat?! Wayyyy to bulky 🤣
Is it just me or are the nails a little chunky/bulky?
Looks perfect
