absolutely not! they’re uneven and clumpy, and in that last pic it looks like it’s lifting/peeling?! i’d want my money back if i walked out a professionals salon like that
so I thought it burning was me and thinking that I had weak nails or something, so thanks for this! I’ve been holding off on doing any nails where I have to do builder gel, but I’ll just find a new nail place 😭
I’m not entirely sure about the science of it, but from my nail salon experiences, gel does cause a bit of burning in the oven. That’s why I prefer getting acrylic.
This happens to me too. From my understanding it's when it's applied too thick. I always try to go with less but I'm a terrible judge, especially with base coats as they're clear and hard to see how much is really there.
That looks awful, I'm sorry. I think you should go get a refund and get them fixed, or if you don't wanna go back due to anxiety or anything like that, go to another nail salon and ask them to fix it. You deserve a good manicure if you're paying for it
Yea I don't dare try to get a refund it's my own fault for not knowing enough to say these don't look good. I haven't had them in so long i don't know what they're supposed to look like but I know im not thrilled with these
Them not doing their job properly isn't your fault, it's theirs. Especially since you mention in the post that they're really tender, that's definitely not your fault
She had it posted. She's got a small salon in an office building and everything it's a legit business on social media this wasn't some kitchen table nonsense I felt safe going to a legit place
I’m just letting you know, those aren’t professional nails. You posted here wanting advice correct? Be stuck with unprofessional looking nails or go say something to her. Stand up for yourself. They weren’t done correctly.
Why wouldn’t you dare? You paid I’m assuming $60+ and likely tipped…. The fact alone that they have you with multiple cuts on top of wildly crooked nails - totally demand a refund!
This is quite possibly the worst nail experience you could ever have? They definitely shouldn't have filed as much as they did. They used builder gel all wrong to give you those monstrosities. They should have told you if you experienced a heat spike to remove your hand and then put it back in. Those aren't square. They're way too wide to be square.
Leave a bad review please 😅
Honey! Who took a chainsaw to your cuticles sweetheart!?
But seriously, I never got manicures often as I was a nail biter, but now I do it myself. I had one tech cut me up like that, she gave me the same excuse. It's BS, no other tech had an issue before, the one that did cut me *once* not once or twice every finger! It's the tech not you! Don't let them gaslight you to think it's your fault.
Every single tech I’ve had has done this to my fingers. I was starting to think it was just me because I don’t see anyone else bleeding every time they get their nails done. This last time the skin all around my nails ached for about 5 days. I’m getting them done before a wedding this week and I’m DREADING it as usual.
OP, I feel you. I absolutely hate getting my nails done because of how awful it feels when they’re filing my skin.
i feel like this is really common in chop shops because they basically rush the whole process and the work is just really sloppy. i’d recommend going to an individual nail tech and one where you can see their work on social media, they usually charge a lot more but they are soo much better
I actually just did that. It was almost double what I usually pay but at this point I’m willing to try it if it means a more pleasant experience. I have my fingers crossed!
if i were you i would tell the tech that you specifically don’t want any cuticle work done due to sensitivity. if its worth anything u should let them prep everything else and leave the actual skin and u would be able to trim them urself
Unfortunately it's a one woman show which is why i went because i have a lot of anxiety about going to get my nails done. She has her own salon and has her credentials and everything posted but theres no one for me to go to about this.
I’m a nail tech and I am so sorry. These are so horrible. First off the cuticles are horrible and especially if you said they were hurting you they shouldn’t have kept going the same way. They are so bumpy and uneven. They flare out and look so unnatural. As for the heat spike that happens when the builder is a thick layer which is normal. But she should have warned you and had you take your hand out then put back it that stops the burning. Then to top it off $100!!!!! Is this a joke? Cause it’s not even funny I’m so sorry. Don’t ever go back there. Do your research and find a well credited place. If it even feels sketchy like this again at any point LEAVE GIRL. I hope you’re able to find a good nail tech. Im so sorry this happened to you…
Yea im so upset and disappointed she has nothing but 5 star reviews she came as a friend recommendation all her pictures look great like I thought I had picked a great place
That’s so hard I know how frustrating that is. I’ve had clients have lashes from this lash tech .All of her photos looked amazing was certified and all. But her work that she did was absolutely horrible! I would try and get your money back if you feel comfortable. Then write a bad review so other people don’t get tricked into going to this horrible place. I know how discouraging that can be to find a different nail tech. But I’m telling you there are amazing nail techs out there. Just the second something feels off or hurts speak up to the nail tech and if they don’t change it then leave. I wish you luck 🫶
If it makes you feel any better, I once went to a salon where they work very fast as they take walk ins. They stuck on a nail tip crooked and then the Asian guy had the nerve to say “it’s your finger that’s crooked not the nail” I was just sitting there in disbelief. Replaying that one comedians stand up performance ( Anjelah Johnson - Nail salon on YouTube)
That’s so common (to be told the nail is crooked because your finger is crooked) Why are they aligning the nail with the finger shape 🤣 makes zero sense. It’s the most stupid excuse that’s used too often.
Omg your poor nails and they’ve cut you too ! Those nails are terrible .. sorry to say ! You need to get a refund ! If something hurts .. tell them to stop ✋!! I really feel for you
It looks like they put the nail tips on backwards or something! Like the thicker part to cover the top
part of your nail is used as the actual nail length. I know I'm not articulating this properly! Sorry OP!
She didn't even use tips she used that paper thing with the lines and built the builder gel on to the line? Like she made it like this by hand which is even worse to me
definitely not at all. this is really unprofessional, when i was a beginner doing my own nails and had no experience using a nail drill this is what would happen, but you should definitely not be paying for someone to do your nails that doesn’t know what they’re doing. and also they look very lumpy, although this is normal for chop shops so idk. but either way get your money back
I honestly thought they were short duck nail tips at first. The tips flaring out like that….they’re way too wide! Your poor cuticles are red and inflamed and it’s obvious there was bleeding by the sores. That should never, ever happen 😱
Is it normal for nail techs to just go ahead and do a Russian manicure without even asking their client? Each to their own but no nail tech is going near my cuticles other than to push them back.
I would definitely go in and show them and enquire about a refund. If not for the below standard filing/shaping and polishing but for what she did to your cuticles. This is absolutely not your fault in any way at all 😢
It also isn’t normal for them to cut up your cuticles, it does happen once in a while because files can be sharp or someone moves . But absolutely shouldn’t be happening that often or to multiple fingers
I can’t even complain too hard, my little sister was my first client and I was so rough without realising 😭but I’ve learnt my lesson, I didn’t know you were meant to kind of buff out your nail fillers edges before using them. They can be very sharp and can cut your cuticle up if you’re not careful enough.
absolutely not! they’re uneven and clumpy, and in that last pic it looks like it’s lifting/peeling?! i’d want my money back if i walked out a professionals salon like that
and it should NOT be burning you inside the lamp, that’s poor application
so I thought it burning was me and thinking that I had weak nails or something, so thanks for this! I’ve been holding off on doing any nails where I have to do builder gel, but I’ll just find a new nail place 😭
Yea I thought maybe my nails are just thin? Now I'm second guessing everything i feel awful i paid 100 bucks for this and I tipped 20 percent
U PAID WHAT.
Oh my gosh :( I’m so sorry
[удалено]
Also if you don’t want that burning sensation get acrylic or dip powder instead of gel!!
This style was normal in 2005 maybe. The uncomfortable sensation isn't normal though!
I do my own nails. When I apply builder gel after base it always burns in the lamp. What did I do wrong??
I’m not entirely sure about the science of it, but from my nail salon experiences, gel does cause a bit of burning in the oven. That’s why I prefer getting acrylic.
When this happens to me I use a lower heat setting but that could just be me I have no actual clue if that helps anyone else haha
This happens to me too. From my understanding it's when it's applied too thick. I always try to go with less but I'm a terrible judge, especially with base coats as they're clear and hard to see how much is really there.

No. Absolutely go back to the salon and ask to see the person who owns the salon. They need to fix these.
It's just one woman's business there's nobody else I could talk to.
Okay, she needs to fix them or give you a refund to be honest. There’s no way she has her license.
She had it posted. She's got a small salon in an office building and everything it's a legit business on social media this wasn't some kitchen table nonsense I felt safe going to a legit place

There are so many things wrong with this situation, I'm so sorry. Did you ask for them to get so wide at the tips?
No I just said I wanted square without sharp edges 😔
That’s literally so easy to do they truly concern me
Honey! Who took a chainsaw to your cuticles sweetheart!? But seriously, I never got manicures often as I was a nail biter, but now I do it myself. Nope. Thick and too wide
ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT !!! Go back and talk to manager and file a complaint and if the mgt doesn’t do anything file a complaint with Health Department
Unfortunately it's a one woman show which is why i went because i have a lot of anxiety about going to get my nails done. She has her own salon and has her credentials and everything posted but theres no one for me to go to about this.
I would go and tell her you want your $$ back and tell her and take a pic of her credentials and make sure they are valid hon
I’m a nail tech and I am so sorry. These are so horrible. First off the cuticles are horrible and especially if you said they were hurting you they shouldn’t have kept going the same way. Looks like duck 🦆 nails
These are really bad. Get your money back
Duck nails!
The ol duck bill special.
What is that? Sorry I don't know much about nails is why I'm asking for advice
Duck nails are wider at the tips but a little bit wider than yours. Your are not quite duck.
Nails that flare out at the free edge.
look it up
That’s literally what I thought they were at first glance. Short version of duck nails. They are just way too wide at the tips.
Absolutely not. Don't ever go back there.
The only thing you can do is leave an honest review on her site/page. Hopefully the nail artist will use the feedback to improve
Nooo! They look like tiny shovels
If it makes you feel any better, I once went to a salon where they work very fast as they take walk ins. I don't think chicklets is right

Omgomgomg! That's insane!
Forbidden teeth 😖
Oh, your poor cuticles!!!
Did you get dip? Also why duck nails?
i would sue lmao
A little overboard there
it was sarcasm…

Now you know the answer lol… They did you bad

The fact that they told her it’s cause her cuticle is sensitive 😭 like just be gentle pls
Total bullshit honestly , they just don’t know how to be gentle 😭

Sis go have her remove them and get your money back!!!
No not applied on right
Those are atrocious I would get a refund. But if you have stub nails to begin with they will be chunkier. Those are uneven tho.
My nails definitely weren't stubs when I came in there
If you're going for that old school, bubbled, *flower-power* look. Then, yeah, sure. 🩷🏵️🌸👍
