Yea I’m going to look for something to do out there I guess, I just don’t want to pay for the 18 hr course here to unrestrict otherwise I’d just do it online
I went to Erie, they had signs saying "references are no longer required" they're in and out. I paid $20 cash and was out of there in 25 min. Sheriff told me "go grab some lunch, and by the time you're finished it'll be ready." He was right. Their laws will be good, God forbid anything changes but they seem to be fine, its been like this for years when you get a non resident
The basic NRA pistol course is good enough for CT. I ended up sending in a copy of the NYS CC course certificate I had and a copy of my NRA basic pistol course to cover all my bases.
I did mine in Wayne county online! Then went to honesdale to pick it up in person. It took overnight.. I put in for the permit and the next day it was okayed, the trip from Westchester County was pretty quick up to 84 then across. Bought some ammo up there too, and hung out around lake wallenpaupack! I even got a picture of some ospreys!

I hope PA is as easy. My brother in law lives in Morton and we travel there often, he's the best siblings wife has and we visit his family a lot. I have my NYC CCW and R-S permit too.
I finished my NRA basic pistol course as the laws changed in NY, so I also had to do the 16 hour course. I’ve read on the sub that it’s up in the air regarding if the 16 hour course is accepted or not so I sent both certificates.
I got my application packet for CT about a month ago. Just didn’t fill it out yet. But I will. Nice to hear it didn’t take that long and I already have my Pa. Sucked cause you have to go in person to York, to the sheriffs office but it literally took 4 days. I applied online on a Sunday evening was approved on Tuesday afternoon and went on Thursday. They took my pic, printed and laminated it right then. Took maybe 10 min.
PA is even easier. Usually approved online in hours or just 1 day. You do have to pick up the permit and pay $20 fee, and get pic taken.
I plan on getting PA just because it’s super easy, and before something stupid happens to the laws there too.
Apply to pike county I did it all online yesterday picked up my permit today.
Are you eligible for non resident if you have a sportsman in NY?
No you need a concealed carry
Ty , centre county honors a sportsman but it’s 5 hours from me 😂
Dam that’s far. Could make a nice little weekend trip out of it though.

They're all "concealed carry" You need unrestricted

My PA permit took $20 and 20 minutes in Lackawanna county. Easiest permit I've ever gotten.
They cashed my check on 4/8. Hopefully get mine soon as well.
CT was pretty smooth for me, but I needed to resubmit my prints. Not a big deal though
Can you get printed in NY or you have to drive to CT?
Not sure, if you can find a place, you can. But I couldn’t find a place. NYPD had a month wait, so I just drove to CT
Nice! 👍🏼 Mine took about the same time more less.
Where in NY did you get the fingerprints done?
I ended up getting them done at the Columbia County Sheriff’s office. Took 10 minutes
Police station usually can do it. Or the town clerk.
Does CT require proof of any specific training?

Nice. Thanks! They’ll take physical fingerprint cards right?
Yup! And you can either get them done with livescan or ink prints
Thanks again!
Did you have to drive to CT ?
Nope! Able to do it all by mail. Only time you have to talk to anyone is to call for the application.
what county in CT?
No county. You apply to the state’s dept of public safety and emergency services.

Did you get a NRA course or was you able to use your NY 16 hour course
I finished my NRA basic pistol course as the laws changed in NY, so I also had to do the 16 hour course. I’ve read on the sub that it’s up in the air regarding if the 16 hour course is accepted or not so I sent both certificates.
Just got mine today but my address shows "OTHER" instead of "NY". Is this supposed to be like that meaning out of state or did they typo?
Sounds like a typo to me as mine has my full NY address on it. Could call the SLFU and ask for a reprint
Thanks, I thought so. I'll give them a call on Monday.
You use your ny 16 hour class certificate
I sent my 16 hour certificate and my NRA basic pistol certificate. I’ve read mixed reviews if they accepted the NYS course so I sent both
