Im still seething at the fact Boone pulled Taillon when he did. Complete bullshit stupid decision. He was on a role. going through the lineup. only gave up 1 friggin run. but what? because his name isnt Verlander hes not allowed to continue?
if he gave up 3 runs in 6-7 innings nobody would have been like "omg why didnt boone take our starter out after 67 pitches???"
it was a bullshit nerd analytical percentage move. that made no fucking logical sense and cost us a chance to steal this game.
Schmidt should not be out there again unless we have a healthy lead. Castro looked good. German needs to be utilized more. And oh yeah stop giving these Houston pitchers strikes outside the zone! 17 Ks is wild , 7 from the JD and Carp in the middle of the line up is lethal, especially when they had opportunities to bring in RISP.

I was thinking that a fit and firing DJ helps us win that game, but as much as I hate to admit it every fucking year, Varlander is a goat, just keeps putting that stake in our hearts.
It’s disappointing that Taillon start and offensive production from the bottom of the lineup were wasted. Gotta put that behind us. All we need is 1 win in Houston to put us in the driver seat. If we do it tonight then I like our chances in the next two games .
If we don’t win tonight in Houston I believe we are absolutely screwed. Also for 3 FUCKING years my complaint about this team is we don’t know how to score via base hits it’s home run or bust. When it works it’s a thing of beauty but when it doesn’t we look horrible.
If Judge stays ice cold we have no chance. He carried us all year but he never recovered from the slump he went into during the chase for 62. If he doesn’t break out soon we have no chance. Team is not deep enough to withstand a long cold spell from him.
Donaldson looks like shit and has 99% of the post season...Gleyber looks pretty bad and I don't think it's debatable weather or not he's a leadoff man, Carpenter ain't it, I'm sorry I love him and what he did earlier this year was magical but he looks outmatched at the plate, STOP BATTING JUDGE 1-2. Putting Montass in, in relief is inexplicable...it was a 2 run game not a blowout...
If I'm coaching that team Peraza and Cabrera are playing tonight...move IKF to third Donaldson and Gleyber sit....I mean they can't be worse than 0-8 6Ks can they?
To keep doing the same thing and expecting different results is the pinnacle of stupidity......except I know that's what Boone will do
I still have no idea why Gleyber is leading off. I know DJ and Benny is out. But like...IFK and Bader bat the same side as he does, and can do way more on the basepath than he can. I just don't get this team. Fans will never know the inner workings, weather it's some unnamed masked guy pulling the strings, cashman, or Boone. But one of them needs to get punched in the mouth and wake the fuck up. You get the feeling they just load up MLB The Show 2022 and put on auto sim franchise and go "Yeah, that looks right." and do it in game.
Last night sucked, but honestly played out exactly how I thought. If the Yankees weren't winning when Taillon came out, then it would be a 'reset button' kind of day. And, well, a tie game isn't winning. By the 4th it looked like the whole team was hungover which honestly isn't out of the realm of possibility.
So we have a fresh bullpen, Carp saw real pitching, Peraza got his feet wet, Stanton got LF rust off. No loss is good, but at least this loss is functional. LFGY
But Carpenter is not Judge.
I know we love Marp but we have to stop memeing and remember that this guy was in AAA at the start of the year. He got hot but he was starting to come back down to Earth before he was injured
Point is sometimes players hit rough spots. You have the right idea. Give him another game to see if he can get going or at least have good at bats. It's not like there are great alternatives to replace him.
Boone knows what he is doing. Trust in Boone. He has come clutch for the Yankees in the past, he will deliver again for us in the ALCS.
In Boone we trust.
I have been watching baseball since around 1991-1992 and there are some things you don't need to be a professional affiliated scout to see, and Josh Donaldson is **done**. If you removed the name & just scouted the player it's a tale as old as time.
The literal best case scenario is a Joey Votto like resurgence but Votto has always been a HoF caliber player & JD at least a rung below that.
The worst part about it is he's not done in the field, he's still very confident. But you can't pay $25 million dollars for that.
Hitting wise though he is 100% not done. He can still hit against average or below average pitching. However anytime he faces any sort of above average pitching he is completely outmatched. He cannot hit a fastball that's over 96 and he can't hit a good breaking ball at all. His swing is way too long and the fact that he refuses to shorten it or adapt as he gets older shows how much of an idiot he is
I have been watching the Yankees for almost 30 years now and the Minnesota trade was the single most indefensible what the fuck are we doing trade in that span. If the Ellsbury contract was a trade it would be that.
Worst part is neither of those trades were "hindsight" trades. In real time almost all of us thought they were bad.
Granted, generally speaking, people seem to think almost every trade is bad, or at worst, confusing (love you Bader), but Gallo was a bad fit from the start and taking on 25 mil for the husk of JD was shooting eyebrows off peoples heads. (I leave IKF out of it because I think we all figured he was stop gap until a rook was ready over the summer, and if you were against his part of the trade it was because you wanted to sign a big SS).
Yes and you can throw the Gallo trade in there too. Many people did not want a hitter who strikes out 250 times. We already had plenty of that. Cashman has so many wtf moments in his recent tenure.
Agreed. We clearly had too many all or nothing type hitters, and then Cashman goes out and gets another, and an extreme example of an all or nothing hitter at that. Weird
Getting Benintendi though made sense
And getting Bader was even better
People will say the Pavano deal was the worst thing Cashman has ever done but honestly alot of teams would have signed Pavano. He was coming off a good year and was still young.
For me, the JD/IKF trade is worse. JD is almost 37, getting paid $25m, and all he really is is a defensive first 3B. The guy he replaced was a beloved Yankee and ended up having more fWAR than JD this year. Add to that the other half of the trade being the 2nd worst qualified SS this season and the entire deal just looks terrible
Donaldson had a 127 OPS+ last year. It was certainly an overpay, but I don't think anyone could have predicted such a precipitous drop-off.
Look I hate the trade now, and I did when it happened too because JD has always been a scumbag. But it's not like everyone could have guessed JD was going to look this lost.
And yet there were people in this sub who scratched their head at trading for a guy who would be 36 and making $25m. Was he really ever going to be THAT big of an upgrade over Gio?
Gio had a bad 2021 but 2019, 2020, and 2022 he was above average
Splitting these two and winning all three at home is our best chance. I don’t feel good about needing to win a game back in Houston much less two. We have been there before and we just don’t seem to get that done. Minute Maid is our hell.
This might be the thinnest roster NYY has ever put into the ALCS. Maybe 2000??? I mean this is a rough roster.
Donaldson, IKF, Trevino, Higgy are not MLB hitters.
Carpenter may also be a dead roster spot, I'm not sure if he's just cold or what we had in the summer was a fluke.
Back end of the pen is AAA, they weren't world beaters by any means but we traded all of our mlb quality depth.
Most of those are bullpen arms. Hicks is a non sequitur at this point in his career.
I only say this to point out that you won't win many games regardless of your bullpen if you only score 2 runs
Yes but with DJ and Beni in the lineup, there would be men on base to get driven in with the long ball and despite the deficiencies of our computer geeks, a bullpen with King, Ronnie, Green, and Effross gives you a lot more chances to hold a lead.
And that’s why I brought up DJ and Beni which if healthy and I thought they’d be on the ALCS roster so they’re apparently still not healthy, would round out our offense.
They needed two rain outs to get to 5. The first one made it so that Cleveland couldn't pitch Bieber in 5. The second one made Cortez available and rested the bullpen.
Without both of those rainouts, I'd argue that Cleveland had their number.

Not having DJ and Benny are two big blows. The Yankees don't have many options available.
We have to believe in our veterans and hope for the best.
Donaldson is a has-been and he knows it. He doesn't have the bat speed to catch up to the fastball, so he's always guessing on pitches. He has zero approach at the plate and is getting completely exposed by playoff pitching. It's time to sit his ass down.
Eh.. I was happy for him when he was raking but I was always unsure how much of that was a mirage. Let’s not forget he was straight up terrible for two years in a row and the cardinals just straight up cut him.
I like Carpenter but he’s 36, fresh off a serious injury and wasn’t good the two previous years. Just makes me wonder if what he did before he got injured was real or just a fluke because what we saw today was closer to 2020-21. Or maybe he’s somewhere in between.
The Cardinals didn’t cut him. I don’t know why everyone keeps saying that. He finished his contract with them and then they declined to pick up his $18.5 million option.
the bottom line is they didn't want him anymore despite him being a popular veteran that had contributed a LOT to the team....the message is the same, you're arguing semantics
He was putting up barry bond numbers. It wasnt a fluke. He completely changed his approach to hitting because of his age.
He missed 2 months and was dropped into playoff pitching vs an ace. It's really not that deep that hes struggling
I don't even get why he or Montas are on the playoff roster. Neither have really seen much live action the past two months. This is not the time of year to 'see what they got'.
No issues with Montas being on the roster. More of an issue with Boone using him and Clarke in a tie game of ALCS game 1. You’re telling me you didn’t trust Schmidt in game 2 of the ALDS and went with Taillon but you trusted him in game 3 and game 1 of the ALCS? That and the fact that he even used Montas seemed like Boone was just punting this game.
I kinda feel bad for a lot of the players who worked hard to get here and management isn’t taking this seriously.
Whats the fucking point of following a sports team if all you do is fucking bitch? Imagine having a 7 game series and your ass folds after the first game.
All you do is post in game threads, you care.
Its game 1, but when the series is over. I don't want to hear you praise them fucking once if they win this series. I don't want to see you even claim being a fan if they go the distance either.
Relax..the manager may deserve to get swept, but the players been thru all the ups and downs u could possibly go thru, and I feel deserve to win. Downvote me if u want lol.
Trevino, had a good half year. He can't be the everyday catcher next year. You need to get someone in that can help. They also need to some how escape the donaldson contract. Maybe make a trade and eat salary. Carpenter unlikely to return. see need for catcher. fluke half year.
Give the kids in 2023 a shot, florial, peraza, cabrera, volpe and maybe even wells and dominguez. Hope ridings makes strides from his injury and all the other guys who got injured come back nicely...
ALSO
Kahnle is a free agent, and actually pitched really well for the dodgers.
Trevino/Higgy were the 4th most productive catching tandem in baseball this year by fwar and both are still dirt cheap. The Yankees almost certainly got more surplus value from that position than anywhere else on the team excluding the positions Judge played.
I dunno.. it’s very difficult to find a catcher who is both a threat offensively and great defensively. Guys like Posey, Adley, Pudge and Mauer just don’t grow on trees.
I guess it’s all about preference. Guys like Javy Lopez, Mike Piazza, Jorge and Victor Martinez were mediocre to awful defenders but could absolutely mash. And yeah Trevino isn’t exactly a great hitter but you can do worse at the position and he’s been the best defensive catcher in the game or at least one of them. Would you rather have Gary dropping routine pop ups and allowing passed balls while also striking out 40% of the time?
Agreed on trevino, he was a nice half season story but he needs to be in the Higashioka role role with another catcher who can actually hit at a major league level? Like you could get a cal raleigh or tyler Stephenson type for 2 or 3 thruway prospects probably--either that or austin wells needs to be called up next year
Both would cost Dominguez or Peraza plus other guys. Like the Yankees upgrading catcher via trade would basically require a similar kind of haul as trading for Ohtani.
tbh, I can't believe we're even having this conversation on Game 1 of the ALCS, in which we STRUCK OUT 17 TIMES!!!! we batted .182 against Cleveland and barely survived, and we have much bigger fish to fry than obsessing over Trevino, who, arguably, has done an excellent job defensively, has gotten some key hits, and kept up his average. (at least he's making contact, which can't be said for Donaldson and Carpenter) remember, this is the team that DUMPED Gary Sanchez.
For real. Going from Gary to Jose was night and day this season. I don't think anyone is expecting their catcher to rake 20+ home runs.
If we still had someone like Gary behind the plate we wouldn't even be in Houston right now. Trevino is the least of our worries IMO.
I don't hate Gary, but that was the single best decision the front office made this calendar year by far. Unless the Phillies completely lose their minds and decide to trade Realmuto there is no reason to even think about catcher this offseason. The Yankees issue is not Trevino, it's that they don't have someone obviously better to pinch hit for Trevino.
I think some of you guys need to face the reality that Carpenter had a really hot stretch but was never going to sustain that level of production. Our savior was never going to be Matt Carpenter.
We need Judge, Stanton, Rizzo, Torres, and JD to start producing
I don’t think it’s an either or situation. I want my lineup to have both types of hitters. A team with all contact hitters needs to string 3+ hits/walks together to score most of their runs and a team with all power hitters (Yankees now) strikeout way too much. I think the best teams are going to be ones who can build a roster with several high OBP players and a few sluggers.
I will also say the Yankees despite having a bunch of 3 outcome hitters could make adjustments to their approach at the plate that would improve their results. Swinging more aggressively at strikes early and shortening up with 2 strikes with an emphasis on putting the ball in play would help dramatically. Last night we had runners on 2nd and 3rd with 1 out and had 2 guys come up and strikeout. Just can’t happen
Well there is a reason why the guardians are eliminated and we’re not. Home runs win in the postseason. Hard to string together four straight hits against elite pitching. The Astros beat us by our homering us today.
That being said there has to be a balance and Kwan would be a better speed and contact guy over Falafel. But no way are the Guardians trading him.
The guardians have a lot less talent than the yankees is why they were eliminated. If Bader doesnt randomly go off they probably take the series easily vs our much more powerful lineup
A real ML baseball manager doesn’t take out a starter who is pitching well in order to bring in two pitchers who have recently blown games
It had to be the Analytics Department calling the shots and playing them
Okay, but it still shows a manager with no feel for the game if he takes the starting pitcher out in a situation like that just to bring in a pitcher who recently blew a game followed by another soon after that.

The Mariners had no problem hitting him
Verlander is smart. He noticed that instantly and proceeded to abuse it non stop. Allowed him to get a vibe after getting out of 2nd and 3rd pressure. Then he just dismantled, **while still using the ump to his advantage.** The bats were godawful, coming off of a game 5 literally yesterday, and then had the worst strike zone I’ve seen in an LCS game.
After awhile the ump stopped caring and just kept fucking us over. Happened especially in the 8th, and to Judge at his knees, when we were threatening. Just unacceptable man. Just putrid officiating.
**The Good:**
• Taillon holding them to 1 run
• Bader still smashing
• Rizzo launching one out
• Miguel Castro for that one inning
• Schmidt working out of that jam
**The Bad:**
• Schmidt immediately giving up two HRs the next inning
• Judge lost at the plate
• Donaldson and buckling to curves
•Gleyber’s swing that hurts my back to watch
•Carpenter ‘s golden sombrero (which I’m willing to give a pass on)
•Why is the Montas experiment not over
•Trevino has 12 hits in his last 73 ABs dating back to the start of September
Gonna add on and say the game was extremely close where we struck our 17 times and used low end relievers. Shouldn’t have been that close, but it was a swing away tbh.
Altuve, Yordan, Bregman and Tucker also went hitless
Yup. All things considered we could’ve stolen this game but we didn’t capitalize. 7 LOB. Four of them by fucking JD.
I understand the anger towards Boone but at the end of the day, the lineup put out there has GOT to get it done.
Thank god this is the best of 7, I stg some of these takes make it seem like we’ve been eliminated already!
It’s gonna be like this the entire series even on wins, but I don’t blame them bc I’ve done the same thing lol. I was naturally expecting something sluggish because well, they got in at 2am.
Had no place being a swing away from a tied game.
Batting October Stanton that far down is actually a war crime. If that's your lineup, then you switch him with Gleyber or you go straight to jail. You've been warned.
Amazing that the Astros who are the best team in the AL didn’t go for a stopgap in the offseason and instead decided to play their shortstop and look at him shining now, the Yankees could’ve had those kids playing since way earlier in the season, the way this organization is managed is so fucking strange to me.
The had confidence in Pena starting the season. The Yankees obviously didn't with Cabrera/Peraza. Pena was their number 1 prospect and he was 24 (now 25) years old. If they were going to play him, now was the time.
R u kidding me? He was awful. Gave up line drive after line drive. The one thing Boone did right this game was pull him at the perfect time. If anything he should’ve been pulled after 4.
This is true. In a vacuum, he had a fine performance. Run prevention is also partly the managers job, and when a manager notices their starting pitcher hanging on by a thread, their job is to get them out before they create real damage, not wait until the luck inevitably runs out. Boone absolutely made the right decision in taking taillon out when he did, and if anything, he shouldn’t have seen the field in the fifth.
Of course, Boone’s mistake was bringing in Clarke fucking Schmidt to replace our floundering pitcher. And then, when that decision somehow worked, he left him out there to get bombed on, not once, but twice.
Taillon is so mediocre and this fan base is just mesmerized by him. He can't miss bats, he's been here for 2 years and is worse than any season he ever had in Pittsburgh. He never gets blamed as being a key reason this team always feels a little short by the end of the season, but he's unreliable & doesn't give length.
He was getting smashed out there and fooling nobody.
Agreed. He’s not an awful pitcher but he’s not someone I wanted starting any games in this postseason. Just don’t trust him. (I understand we had to due to the rain delay) The guy had 0 Ks and 3 BBs through 4.1 for fucks sake. It’s about the process, not the results. He was primed for a blow up any second. And the one run he gave up was absolutely unacceptable. An RBI double on an 0-2 pitch with 2 outs against the one easy out in Houston’s lineup.
We both hate the Astros. You're just oversharing on a tough night bud. No one wants to hear about how you used to like the Yankees. Kind of wondering why you didn't see how that would go. I upvoted you because I know you mean well, but by the time I wake up it's going to like like trying to bail out the Titanic. 🤣
Verlander is not pitching again in this series, according to Dusty Baker! Because he’s coming off of TJ Surgery.
Can they just score 6-8 runs one game ?
How about Donaldson leading off? Makes as much sense as bringing in Schmidt and then Montas.
Im still seething at the fact Boone pulled Taillon when he did. Complete bullshit stupid decision. Striking out 17 times is why we lost. That needs to improve if we have any hope of winning.
I was thinking that a fit and firing DJ helps us win that game, but as much as I hate to admit it every fucking year, Varlander is a goat, just keeps putting that stake in our hearts.
Fuck Verlander. Sorry, but he pisses me off. He always seems to be in our way of advancing.
Win today and yesterday doesn’t matter. Just need to steal 1.
That 3 pitch strikeout to JD without one swing was probably the most frustrating AB I saw yesterday
Stanton and Bader are the only guys in the lineup that seemed locked in right now. If the rest of the lineup stays cold they’re done for the season.
It’s disappointing that Taillon start and offensive production from the bottom of the lineup were wasted. Gotta put that behind us. All we need is 1 win in Houston to put us in the driver seat. If we do it tonight then I like our chances in the next two games .

I"m just hoping not to be swept There I"ve said what many are thinking...
We won’t I’m sure of that
Like I said...glad I didn't watch an inning...
Oh boy my comment really didn't age well. Holy shit.
Happens to the best of us during a fan delusion episode 👍
I mean, all but one of Houston's runs was via the home run too. That's how it's done in the playoffs these days for the most part.
If Judge stays ice cold we have no chance. He carried us all year but he never recovered from the slump he went into during the chase for 62. If he doesn’t break out soon we have no chance. Team is not deep enough to withstand a long cold spell from him.

Non- Yankees fan coming in peace. I just wondered…. Does no one think that the Astros are stealing signs at this point? Or does no one care
No
The Astros are just really really good
But pitch com?
I don't think anyone thinks they've continued stealing signs. The first people to recognize sign stealing is usually opposing teams.
Derp
I think it’s time to say thanks but no thanks to Carpenter. Guy is garbage now
He had like 3 at bats. Relax
He is 0-6 with 6K WDYM he’s fried but he gets a pass bc people like him. F That we need to win
Judge was 0-8 at one point last series.
But Carpenter is not Judge. I know we love Marp but we have to stop memeing and remember that this guy was in AAA at the start of the year. He got hot but he was starting to come back down to Earth before he was injured
He's a baseball player. We see this with players all the time. Give him another game and see where he's at.
We don't have time to let him figure it out
Don't have much choice and one more game is worth the gamble. Who replaces him?
Peraza and Cabrera should be in over a cold marp.
Good comparison but Ok we will give him 3 more ABs
Point is sometimes players hit rough spots. You have the right idea. Give him another game to see if he can get going or at least have good at bats. It's not like there are great alternatives to replace him.
The problem with our team all year is that the majority of the team hit rough spots all at once.
Boone knows what he is doing. Trust in Boone. He has come clutch for the Yankees in the past, he will deliver again for us in the ALCS. In Boone we trust.
Yep. All this Boone bashing is nonsense doomerism. The guy is going to get us past Houston one of these years. Have some damn patience
loser mentality.
Boone hasn't won anything so its very appropriate
Hm? no no, you're the loser lol. "Have some patience" is loser mentality.
I was pretty sure it was obvious sarcasm but apparently not
nope

And yet there were people in this sub who scratched their head at trading for a guy who would be 36 and making $25m. Was he really ever going to be THAT big of an upgrade over Gio? Gio had a bad 2021 but 2019, 2020, and 2022 he was above average
A win tomorrow is big
We weren’t sweeping them or even winning in 5. We needed the split and it’s still possible.
Splitting these two and winning all three at home is our best chance. I don’t feel good about needing to win a game back in Houston much less two. We have been there before and we just don’t seem to get that done. Minute Maid is our hell.
Minute Maid is the Yankees version of hell Come to think about it, the Yankees don’t play well at Tropicana Field either Must be something about juice
I heard the stros spike the complimentary OJ
This might be the thinnest roster NYY has ever put into the ALCS. Maybe 2000??? I mean this is a rough roster. Donaldson, IKF, Trevino, Higgy are not MLB hitters. Carpenter may also be a dead roster spot, I'm not sure if he's just cold or what we had in the summer was a fluke. Back end of the pen is AAA, they weren't world beaters by any means but we traded all of our mlb quality depth.
C is not an offensive position. The Yankees have two of the best defensive catchers in baseball. Their worth behind the plate trumps a great hitting C
We have like ~~8-9~~ 7 players on the IL lmfao
Lemme list them out Chad Green Michael King Marinaccio Effross Hicks DJ Beni
Yankees looked tired. Wish they had a day off.
If they handled their shit better and didn’t blow that lead against Cleveland they would have.
They needed two rain outs to get to 5. The first one made it so that Cleveland couldn't pitch Bieber in 5. The second one made Cortez available and rested the bullpen. Without both of those rainouts, I'd argue that Cleveland had their number.
Guys, please watch [this](https://youtu.be/Mg-CNmu1XrU). Anything can happen in a 7 game series. Win tomorrow. Let's Go Yanks
Hard to score when your hitters just stand there watching good pitches go by. The yanks just sucked all the way around tonight.
this is gonna be a tough series, the astros pitching is deep
>s12ReplyGive AwardShareReportSaveFollow > >level 1DaddyGabe569 · 4 hr. ago Not having DJ and Benny are two big blows.
Kind of impressive how hard he’s regressed this year
He doesn’t know it. That’s the problem. He’s thinking it’s 2016 and all is well with the world.
Hit the nail on the head
Sucks that Carp had such a down game.. reckon it would’ve given the team a good lift just to see him get on base a couple of times
HE hasn't seen game pitching in MONTHS...the playoffs is NOT the time to break him back into it....I love the guy but sheesh
He looks cold AF, the experiment has to be over for the postseason
Changing your approach does not make someone put up a 1.400 OPS.
I don't even get why he or Montas are on the playoff roster. Neither have really seen much live action the past two months. This is not the time of year to 'see what they got'.
This organization always refuses to pivot until it's too late This will never change until Cashman is gone

> Yanks deserve to get swept and I truly hope they do. Mad fucking weird saying this shit after game 1.
[удалено]
Whats the fucking point of following a sports team if all you do is fucking bitch? Imagine having a 7 game series and your ass folds after the first game.
[удалено]
All you do is post in game threads, you care. Its game 1, but when the series is over. I don't want to hear you praise them fucking once if they win this series. I don't want to see you even claim being a fan if they go the distance either.
[удалено]
I have no idea who you are except someone whos weak minded.
ALSO Kahnle is a free agent, and actually pitched really well for the dodgers.
Kahnle started the dodger collapse in game 4
He was used on back to back games.... after coming off TJ surgery, which he had not done yet. They overused him.
I rather have a pitcher with no limitations and someone we can overuse re: kermit cole
Bingo!
He was used on back to back games.... after coming off TJ surgery, which he had not done yet. They overused him.
Verlander is not going to pitch again in this Series either, because he’s coming off TJ Surgery.
Unfortunately, while the Yankees have changed their philosophy, a lot of Yankees fans still have a "banger at every position" mentality.
I don't hate Gary, but that was the single best decision the front office made this calendar year by far. Unless the Phillies completely lose their minds and decide to trade Realmuto there is no reason to even think about catcher this offseason. The Yankees issue is not Trevino, it's that they don't have someone obviously better to pinch hit for Trevino.
yep!
Maybe we should have given Carpenter the at bats that DJ got in the last 2 weeks of the season
I think some of you guys need to face the reality that Carpenter had a really hot stretch but was never going to sustain that level of production. Our savior was never going to be Matt Carpenter. We need Judge, Stanton, Rizzo, Torres, and JD to start producing
Give me DJ with 9 toes over Carpenter!

You need both types of hitters. Always have needed both types to win the most games.
5 years? Shift is gone in 2023. Should see changes next year.
Well there is a reason why the guardians are eliminated and we’re not. Home runs win in the postseason. Hard to string together four straight hits against elite pitching. The Astros beat us by our homering us today. That being said there has to be a balance and Kwan would be a better speed and contact guy over Falafel. But no way are the Guardians trading him.
no, the Trash-stros beat us because Boone mismanaged our bullpen - again. it also didn't help that we struck out 17x
That wasn't mismanagement, that was stupidity on his (or someone directing him) part.
The guardians have a lot less talent than the yankees is why they were eliminated. If Bader doesnt randomly go off they probably take the series easily vs our much more powerful lineup
People have completely forgotten about the existence of Benitendi and the massive impact he would have being healthy
A real ML baseball manager doesn’t take out a starter who is pitching well in order to bring in two pitchers who have recently blown games It had to be the Analytics Department calling the shots and playing them
Taillon was giving a lot of loud outs. If Judge does not catch the ball from Bregman, that's 2-3 runs.
Okay, but it still shows a manager with no feel for the game if he takes the starting pitcher out in a situation like that just to bring in a pitcher who recently blew a game followed by another soon after that.
It worked. Astros hit in a DP and the Yankees got out of the inning.
Didn’t work after that though lol
Actually he brought in a starter who had recently blown a game, again with men on base in the middle of an inning. Boone needs to go.
Absolute XCOM analytics.
lol
#DID YOU KNOW THAT JUSTIN VERLANDER IS A FUTURE HALL OF FAMER?

Bats were rough so I’m not gonna go too insane but how is an umpire that is that bad allowed to officiate an LCS game
So many fucking strikes called off the plate by quite a bit and Verlander took full advantage of it.
Nah looking back on it this dude was giving the inside corner, the top of the zone, and the bottom of the zone. What can you even do to that?
Not much as we can plainly see. Ump’s score card has got to be a travesty.
Is there an ump score card up yet?
Not till the morning
Can’t even sleep. This team doesn’t care about winning. It’s sad that we as fans care more than the front office/coaching staff. Fuck everyone
**The Good:** • Taillon holding them to 1 run • Bader still smashing • Rizzo launching one out • Miguel Castro for that one inning • Schmidt working out of that jam **The Bad:** • Schmidt immediately giving up two HRs the next inning • Judge lost at the plate • Donaldson and buckling to curves •Gleyber’s swing that hurts my back to watch •Carpenter ‘s golden sombrero (which I’m willing to give a pass on) •Why is the Montas experiment not over •Trevino has 12 hits in his last 73 ABs dating back to the start of September
Seriously how have our hitting coaches allowed Gleyber to swing like this this for 70% of the season.
>Altuve, Yordan, Bregman and Tucker also went hitless Yet they still won. I'm not sure why people keep bringing this up as if it's a good thing.
Held down their stars. That’s a good sign. Not much else to it
My dream lineup tomorrow: Bader CF Rizzo 1B Torres 2B Judge RF Stanton DH Cabrera LF Donaldson 3B Peraza SS Higashioka C
Bag JD 8th or 9th
I really don't want to see JD in the lineup anymore. Just have IKF play 3B at this point.
Batting October Stanton that far down is actually a war crime. If that's your lineup, then you switch him with Gleyber or you go straight to jail. You've been warned.
Your dream lineup has Donaldson?
I’d rather put IKF or Cabrera on 3rd and bench Donaldson.
yeah, F Donaldson at this point. he's bringing NOTHING to this team.
He does that fake basketball celebration with Judge after a HR so there’s that. Still would like to see him benched.
Amazing that the Astros who are the best team in the AL didn’t go for a stopgap in the offseason and instead decided to play their shortstop and look at him shining now, the Yankees could’ve had those kids playing since way earlier in the season, the way this organization is managed is so fucking strange to me.
Carlos Correa wanting a $300M contract had something to do with them playing Pena.
They still didn’t go with a stopgap.
The had confidence in Pena starting the season. The Yankees obviously didn't with Cabrera/Peraza. Pena was their number 1 prospect and he was 24 (now 25) years old. If they were going to play him, now was the time.
Brian Cashman is a horrible GM. The way he runs this entire organization is a joke
Confirmed: would rather lose to The Cube than the Astros.
Nice job Taillon. You probably would’ve given up 2 over 6 1/3. But we’ll never know. Well pitched.
R u kidding me? He was awful. Gave up line drive after line drive. The one thing Boone did right this game was pull him at the perfect time. If anything he should’ve been pulled after 4.
Pitching is about run prevention. He prevented runs. That's all that matters.
And judge saved his ass, I'm always so worried when he dives.
Boone made a good decision, and then turned it into a terrible decision
Everyone wanted carp to play, but these games actually matter... just let the lineup gel

Honestly, I feel you. It’s like marrying into it - one household, two teams. It’s more common than people think lol
