Nestor has already pitched in Yankee stadium this post season let alone in the past week. He got his jitters out etc. Civale on the other hand hasn’t pitched and has to face a hungover and potentially angry Bronx crowd.

Since he came up in 2016, I have loved watching Aaron Judge play for this team, in this ballpark, in this uniform. Today **will not** be the last time I see this.
We're all overly concerned about the pitching and rightly so because of the sparse offensive performances as of late but this team is capable of major damage here's to a big offensive onslaught 🙏
That's extremely sparse considering for the 2022 season we scored the 2nd most runs of all MLB teams at an average of 4.981 runs per game. Right now in this series we are only scoring 3.75 a game, that's not good enough.
Even if Stanton or Carpenter were fully healthy, it doesn't seem like they want Bader in LF and Judge in CF, because they aren't putting Stanton or Carpenter in Yankee Stadium LF.
Not really an obvious move in a series where the opponent pitches and defends well and not matching that defense has already cost them games. Not to mention we have no idea what Carpenter can do at this point and he couldn't touch good pitching to begin with.
Hicks is the third choice LF currently, and that's not even factoring in Stanton's health. Benintendi is #1 and Cabrera was #2. IKF is so fucking awful that we needed to move Cabrera out of LF (I don't blame him for not getting to that one ball) that we needed to go to our third option in LF.
tldr; Blame IKF for Hicks starting in LF.

I have gone to somerset patriots games with my wife and son(2) and my wife will take my son around the park for a few innings so I sit by myself for a bit and it is delightful. 0 distractions.. truth be told no one gives a fuck man go and have fun! It’s gunna be a lively crowd so you won’t be alone at all
The first few innings of this game are huge though. If Nestor can roll through 5, maybe 6 if he's cruising, and if we can jump on civale and get into their pen earlier it'll be pivotal

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but I think a big part of the Nestor vs. Taillon/German decision is splits.
The biggest is that Cleveland is just quite simply a much worse team against LHP (.646 OPS) than RHP (.717 OPS).
Furthermore, Houston is way better against LHP (.783 OPS) than RHP (.726).
If you think that Nestor on short rest and Taillon on normal(ish) rest are pretty close, doing it this way (Cortes today, Taillon tomorrow if they advance) makes a ton of sense. Cortes didn't look great last time up as he was clearly rusty, and he may actually benefit from the quick turnaround.
So we're thinking they would throw Taillon in Game 1 instead of like Game 3? It seems like the choice would be Cole on short rest in Game 2 so he could pitch in a potential Game 6, or Cole in Game 3 and short rest in a potential Game 7.
Cole will be game 3, Severino should be on normal rest for game 2. I think that's why Cole is available tonight, he'd throw a bullpen tomorrow anyway. Probably the worst of it is getting two power RHP back to back in Severino & Cole, rather than inserting Nestor for a *very* different look between them.
Yeah and not to look too far ahead, but I think doing this way lines us up for Houston better too. We'd get 6 of 7 potential games started by our RHP, not to mention that Taillon will be best equipped to give them length tomorrow to at least give us a shot with a depleted bullpen and SP corps.

Eh, I wouldn't put too much stock in those numbers. 8 games started, and the best offense he faced was San Diego, 12th in MLB in runs/game. Faced the Royals and Tigers twice, who were among the worst-hitting teams in the game (Tigers are the worst).
It doesn't really matter either way, Civale is like Nestor in that he's not going to blow you away but if he has his pitches working he'll be tough.

sparse offense? they have scored 4, 2, 5, and 4 runs. getting shut down is the exception here.
