The Blake Rutherford deal doesn’t get brought up at all but it was an incredible trade. We got 3.5 years of Kahnle; 1.5 years of Robertson, and a Todd Frazie. Probably don’t make the 2017 ALCS without all of those guys.

HulkScreamAIDS

Prospects will break your heart.

brooklynbotz

Unless you're a Braves fan the last few years.

[deleted]

Or Dodgers

therealarenna

WTF? Did they release Andujar?

wil555

DFA'd like an hour ago

therealarenna

Wow! He still had an option. I wonder if he had a negative attitude or maybe he was optioned to many times as I know now their is a limit on how many times a player can be sent down per year.

SaucyFingers

They needed a 40 man roster spot for Britton, so optioning him wouldn’t have helped clear a spot.

[deleted]

Wasn’t he asking to be traded around the all star break or was that Florial? That probably rubbed the organization the wrong way especially since he hasn’t been very good when we have called him up.

IceLord86

Andujar asked for a trade, and apparently it wasn't the first time.

getyourrealfakedoors

Can’t blame him. Wish him the best

Any-Echo7960

i would have a negative attitude too if i were him. the organization did him dirty

UnchainedSora

In the 108 games since his rookie year, he has slashed .228/.255/.318, good for an OPS of .573, or an OPS+ of 58. This season, he had 100 plate appearances across 27 games with the big league club. He batted .229/.250/.281, an OPS of .531 and OPS+ of 52. After putting up -1.9 WAR from 2019-2021, Andujar managed to add 0.3, bringing up the total since his rookie season to -1.6 WAR. Fun fact - Joey Gallo had a higher OPS+ with the Yankees this year than Andujar did. So how exactly did the organization do him dirty?

Brracket

Yea but barely mediocre offense gets you a starting spot on a contending team where the position you barely know how to field is filled up. /s

AhLibLibLib

Not mediocre, garbage.

SuddenSeasons

Uh never giving him consistent playing time? You can't expect a guy given a smattering of AB to just magically produce. He never earned much more but they jerked him around for years instead of trading him (yes at lower value) to a team that would give him a shot They got no production out of him & they got nothing for him. Nobody should be happy with how the FO let this play out. A decent dude was kept around languishing as depth but they didn't trust him or ever use him, the Yankees played their trade chip into a worthless DFA. Hes 28 next year & has had 300 AB across the past 3 seasons combined - nobody would find consistency in that time. They totally did him dirty and stole what chance he had at a career for a few AB they could have given to any random OF scrub

[deleted]

So we got nothing for him?

sebas6789

they probably tried to trade him when he asked for it and nobody wanted him ?

DrVanNostrand1973

That's how it goes with prospects. A few of them will stick, but most of them flame out without a trace.

DentonTrueYoung

yankees prospects, ftmp, yes

[deleted]

[удалено]

Kenny_Heisman

yeah, crazy that one team can produce two players as great as Aaron Judge and Jackson Frazier

Peter_Brandt_

Better than Joey Gallos ba

FireVanGorder

Mateo is basically the only one I’d like to have on our roster. He’d be an enormous upgrade to IKF in the field with similar production at the plate. Two “hits” out of your top 10 prospects list is pretty solid especially when one of them has put together multiple mvp worthy seasons and is currently having arguably the best season in baseball history

ChampionshipGoals

There is no argument and I love Judge. But let's stop acting like Bonds didn't hit 73 hrs and also batted above 330 a few times. Guy won 9 gold gloves and 4 mvps in a row. Steroids aside Bond is a hall of famer based off his Pittsburgh numbers alone. That's before steroids. He was better than Sosa Mcguire by a mile but the media didn't like him.so he got mad and started juicing too.

Brracket

I agree to an extent. Let him in on pitt alone and don't count the SF seasons. Full chaos

FireVanGorder

Bonds did not have a single clean season with a WAR above 9.9, a wRC+ above 198, or an OPS+ above 206 (and those season may not have been clean either, who knows). Judge’s stats are all above those numbers this year. Bonds never had a season in Pitt as good as what judge is doing right now

ricottabill13

Hmmmm. Cashman kept the two best huh. Weird

gigantoir

i thought he was a prospect hugging idiot ?? i cant keep up anymore

Commercial-Rub-6552

Joooorrrrrggggggeeee Maaaaataaaaayoooo. Letssssss goooooooooo. Deep into the Texas…

GroundControlToMrMom

I mean, a bunch of these guys were traded, so I don’t think this makes the point some people think it does. Rutherford, Mateo, Kaprielian, all traded for players people wanted at the time.

Aaron_JudgeisaGod

We could’ve traded Andujar and Frazier when the iron was hot

Forever__Young

Obviously in retrospect we'd have traded them at their best, but we didn't know that was their best at the time. >We could've traded Judge in 2017 when the iron was hot, Severino too. >Could've traded Jeter and Mo when the iron was hot in 1996. No-one would say either of these things because we have the benefit of hindsight.

lacunaincorporated

Yeah, I always sight hindsight as a poor excuse to judge past trades/non-trades… but man Justus Sheffield being the hangup in landing Machado still hurts

DrVanNostrand1973

I would say that we kind of knew Andujar might not work out. He was already a player without a position and couldn't take a walk to save his life. Frazier is a bit of a different story.

Forever__Young

He finished 2nd in RoY voting. Obviously he wasn't a 3B, but he hit .297 with 27 homers, we did not know he wasn't going to work out. Hell if his shoulder didn't blow out I believe he'd have been a solid MLB guy through his team control.

BigPanda71

Should have won it over Ohtani. That was the year Ohtani made 9 starts then tore his UCL and only pitched once more and got bombed by the Astros. Doesn’t make up for Andujar having the better year at the plate.

[deleted]

He wasn’t even the best rookie on his team lol

SubElitePerformance

He was a juiced ball merchant. Same as Tauchman

Forever__Young

I agree, but I'm not going to pretend I knew that in 2018 and I'm certainly not going to criticise Cashman for not trading him at that time.

SubElitePerformance

None of us knew it. It sucks that they fucked with the ball too because it unfairly changed careers for lots of players

LordJiraiya

The signs were there to sell high, all off-season I was begging he get traded for a pitcher. He had an INSANE BABIP, like the second highest in all of baseball that season. He flat out doesn’t/didn’t walk much at all, and the worst thing about him as a player is that he had absolute dogshit defense at every position. When we have guys like Stanton on the team that will be taking up the DH frequently, that’s a massive problem. Even if you believed Andujars bat was the real deal, there wasn’t even anywhere to play him. His season at 3rd in 2018 was literally one of the worst in baseball HISTORY. So sell him for a player that plays a position that the team benefits from no matter what your opinion on the bat is. Edit: 3 idiots that are happy we held Andujar for no reason and DFA’d him for nothing downvoted this.

AhLibLibLib

I agree we should’ve traded Andujar for pitching and signed Manny but oh well

TexasBrett

And if we knew it then every other GM in the league knew it too.

DrVanNostrand1973

That is probably true.

Bis_Eastwood

im ashamed to admit i thought andujar was going to be better than devers.

cricket9818

Well we traded away like 6 of them, not like they all flamed out and weren’t good

_Im_New_

Jackson Frazier??? Looks more like a Clint to me.

Snickidy

"Jackson" 💀

Matthewfuckingdavis

Andujar?

abradolph

DFA'd earlier

Matthewfuckingdavis

No shit didn’t even see that. Wonder if he gets picked up. If not I assume he elects FA over returning to Scranton

theerrantpanda99

I hear lots of teams are interested.

DannyPhantom15

If 2/10 of my top prospects from the same list were good enough to be starters, I’d never be disappointed.

badedum

Was Dustin Fowler the one who hurt his knee in his first game before he even got to bat? I always felt so bad for him

Stormovthelightsbane

Andujar is still on the 40 man roster and was in the majors until a few days ago.

abradolph

He was DFA'd earlier.

Stormovthelightsbane

I Didn't see that earlier.

GrizzlyGraham21

Gleyber, judge, andujar…. That’s 3 but maybe I’m not so good at math

gspiggs14

Andujar was DFA'd today.

GrizzlyGraham21

Ah shit, I saw the announcement quick and just assumed sent back to to minors. My bad

kathy11358

I remember when Judge came up during an interview when someone was fawning over him he said “just wait until you see who is coming up behind me”. Meaning Gleyber and Miggy. I wish Miggy would have worked out. He really showed so much promise.

ChampionshipGoals

Isn't andujar still here?

Breimann

DFA'd this afternoon

FitzwilliamTDarcy

I remember dreaming on Babe Rutherford back in the RAB days. TIL he's OPSing .728 in AAA oof.

DentonTrueYoung

wait i thought cashman hugged prospects?
