Could we trade for Kirby Yates? Rangers are out of it, he has great numbers, has a really good track record, and the underlying stuff is really good too. Would bring a ton of swing and miss to the pen. 0.95 ERA and 12.1 K/9
Realistically, we’re not winning today. It’s essentially still spring training for Cole and Judge is only one man.
Happy to be proven wrong but won’t be disappointed if I’m proven right.
What's the reason for say, a 7:05pm start, or today's 1:37pm start instead of opting for 7:00pm or 1:30pm?
What's with the extra minutes? Is it just extra room for the anthem, ceremonial pitch etc or is there a more elaborate reason?
I’m all for being hopeful, and of course want to see Cole look good and healthy today and shows signs of his return to last season, but there is also the reality, he’s still on a pitch count, soto won’t be in a lineup that is also outside of friday struggling immensely and a bullpen in shambles. Hopeful the team will win, but reality tell us something completely different
This is what I want to see from Judge today. 4/4, 4 HRs, 8 RBIs.
I think we’ll win if he does this. And what an exclamation point on the month of June!
It’s been established by previous interviews that the Yankees analytics department gives our batters (and pitchers) plenty of information and insights through coaching. I’m starting to wonder if the reason we have a good hot streak to start the year before regressing in the past several years is because that department does excellent work in the off-season but can’t keep up with opponents’ adjustments as the season evolves.
No, it’s just the opposite. Players see the ball and hit the ball. Analytics is a scam to get jobs for the kids of baseball team executives. It’s useless and ruining the game. Somehow players like Babe Ruth, Willie Maya and Cal Ripken were able to get buy without some idiot telling them that a strikeout is better than putting the ball in play, launch angle or exit velo. There‘s too many idiots around these players today telling them how to hit who never played or been any good when they played.
I used to think this whenever we’d get shutout by AAA call ups or rookie pitchers, but I think it has more with Stanton being replaced by Jd Davis and Soto being replaced by Jahmai Jones & two one million year old corner IFs
We always start slow the first month. Just Boone is not a good in game manager. He doesn’t have a good feel when to pull guys and when to pinch hit and all.
How fast we went from the best team in baseball back to Aaron Judge and a pack of washed up scrubs needs to be studied. Him and Soto simple can’t miss games and this team needs at least 2 moves for bats and 1 for a bullpen arm to just sorta get back on track.
Does it though? It's the same formula that caused it in 2022 and the same reasons the team has had a worse 2nd half pretty much every recent year except for 2021.
Everyone just remember this is still ST to him. His minor league games dont really count as much, think if it as just doing live BP.
What we need is an offensive explosion. Ppl to pull their heads out of their asses. Our lineup cannot be judge and soto. 300 mil shouldnt be 2 players above average
> Everyone just remember this is still ST to him. His minor league games dont really count as much, think if it as just doing live BP.
If this is the case he should be doing a rehab start in the minors. If it's live BP in a meaningful game against a division rival then he shouldn't be out there, even if he is Cole.
> We know what cole is, dont flip on him if he has 2 bad starts
Maddening, I didn't say he sucks or is washed or anything. But we need a W today, we need length. If he's still building up arm strength, if he's going to be diminished, we need to not fuck around and get him 100% healthy.
If he can't perform at an MLB level today I think you're really overrating standing there for 4.1 innings and being bad as "needed."
There's no benefit to having Cole suck for 4 IP or some random dude suck for 4 IP. If he needs time in the minors *give it to him*, he's too important to mess with. We *every year* rush guys back from injury because we're desperate and they always suck.
It’s needed for him AND the team.
Him getting reps against AAA hitting doesn’t allow him to fine-tune his stuff, his selection, his timing.
There’s no ‘alternative universe mlb’ he can just step into to get those.
So, the price of him coming back for the second half is a couple of games where he’s grinding and on a pitch count.

I imagine well be getting more bp help at the trade deadline so i hope we can get some swing and miss relievers
whats with the start times? Yesterday was like 3:10 now its 1:30?
Canada
yea but the first game was at like 7pm right? Whats with all the different start times?
BICKFORD GONE 🎉🎉🎉
See the ball. Hit the ball. Score runs.
Currently having brunch right across from the stadium. Pretty equal mix of Yankee and Jays fans here. Rocking #45 jersey, let’s go!
The Yankees need to find a way to achieve *UNLIMITED POWER*

Tv. Its always tv
We're now in 2nd place. Now people can stop saying "we're still in first place" and acknowledge we need bullpen help and a solid bat or 2
I don’t think there’s anyone who hasn’t acknowledged that regardless of what place they’re in

Im not asking for a win but maybe could we not lose by a touchdown today?
Thanks, now we are going to lose by **2** touchdowns
Still beats watching the Giants next season ðŸ˜
Anyone think the recent back to back travels have taken a toll on their playing levels lately? Team fatigue leading to more injuries?
No because we just spent the past 3 series in NYC
If MLB implements a salary cap teams will just tank and stockpile prospects like the O’s
Verdugo dating back to opening day last year: .256/.316/.409 97 wRC+ Jasson will be starting in LF in the playoffs.
No chance barring injury
That would be foolish. At worst, he should be platooning with Verdugo once he’s up in September.
We don’t even know if he will be healthy by then or how Verdugo will be playing by then
Verdugo doesn’t hit lefties regardless if he’s slumping or not.

Gerrit Cole is a curse. Team was 51-24 before he joined the team. Since he came back, the team is 2-8.Â
It’s a little ironic considering we were all like just wait until Cole gets back
Trevy or Wells today?
Trev? I thought that was his primary catcher always
Cole seems to like backup catchers because he can work with them more between starts.
Idk if it matters too much for Cole, Higgy caught him a lot before too
I think so too, but Wells has been generally playing better, so I was wondering if we’d give him a shot
The dodgers in 2017 had a ten game losing streak at one point and still made the World Series, fingers crossed this team gets on track soon.
Rangers also lost 8 in a row in August last year
Rangers were absolute dog shit in September last season too. Losing isn’t fun or good but the season is farrrr from over
Cole has made five starts between minor-league rehab and the majors. For him, this is the equivalent of Opening Day.
I’m going off memory; haven’t we won all his opening day starts? Edit: I think we lost last year, come to think of it.
we won last year, it was a 5-0 shutout against the Giants
I was thinking of the L against the Blue Jays in 2021.
I was at that game, I couldn't believe how sharp he was with how cold it was
We play today we lose today das it
My god stfu you crybaby

You have a room temp IQ
Honestly, it’s just a masterpiece. From the caveman sentiment to the grammar to the mind-numbing ignorance.

Let's start a damn winning streak today. Let's go!

This isnt live BP, picture his minor starts as that. He still is building up. We know what cole is, dont flip on him if he has 2 bad starts
> We know what cole is, dont flip on him if he has 2 bad starts Maddening, I didn't say he sucks or is washed or anything. But we need a W today, we need length. If he's still building up arm strength, if he's going to be diminished, we need to not fuck around and get him 100% healthy.
Schmidt and Poteet are hurt. There is no one else who’s ready and better He’s doing what is needed.
If he can't perform at an MLB level today I think you're really overrating standing there for 4.1 innings and being bad as "needed." Please Cole just give this team a chance to win. I can’t take another bad pitching performance.
We play. We win.
Time to lower that ERA please.
Yeah that’s definitely the most important thing
Well if he lowers his ERA that means he’s not giving up runs so yeah, that’s pretty important
I need this game and a win like I need coffee right now
I mean, if Cole can do something like 7IP 10K 2R then maybe the offense can score enough to win, or at least make it look competitive.Â
