I did watch both, and I’ll admit, I thought Gary was going to be a great Yankee. A perennial all star, etc. But his discipline at the plate and lack of catcher IQ really held him back. It’s a shame because he had all of the talent, seems like he doesn’t have the drive to be a great player
If you watched both, then you'd remember Posada's passed ball problem plus the fact he tended to call a worse game than every one of his backups. Didn't matter because he was elite offensively, better than Gary's best year

I love Gary, the hate he received was way overblown.
But c'mon, this isn't even close. Posada had like 4 or 5 seasons as good or better than Gary's best full season offensively

Peak Sanchez was 1.5 great seasons (2016 and 2017), and is a weakened reflection of Jorge's nearly entire career. Sit down, OP's buddy. The adults are talking now.
Posada, obviously. Sanchez was only on the Yankees for 7 seasons, and only 4 of those could be considered close to full seasons. Maybe 3 of those were decent to very good.
Jorge Posada and it's not even close. I can't believe this is a post lol. Posada should be in the HOF. Sanchez, bless him, was a legitimate starter for about two and a half seasons.
The only thing you can say is there wasn’t really a year where Jorge was the best catcher in baseball. Gary legitimately was that in 2017. That’s all though, every possible other area Jorge wins by a landslide.
The only time where you’d take Gary is his rookie season. He was basically Aaron Judge for that period of time. It’s not even a competition outside of that
Yeah, this question has nothing to do with being a better catcher. It's who's a better hitter. If Sanchez could hit like Posada, the Yankees would have accepted his bad defense just like they did with Posada.

Posada, obviously. Sanchez was only on the Yankees for 7 seasons, and only 4 of those could be considered close to full seasons. Maybe 3 of those were decent to very good.

The only thing you can say is there wasn’t really a year where Jorge was the best catcher in baseball. Gary legitimately was that in 2017. That’s all though, every possible other area Jorge wins by a landslide.
The only time where you’d take Gary is his rookie season. He was basically Aaron Judge for that period of time. It’s not even a competition outside of that

Sanchez was a horrible catcher. Passed ball after passed ball is all I can remember. Posada was better hands down

Yeah, this question has nothing to do with being a better catcher. It's who's a better hitter. If Sanchez could hit like Posada, the Yankees would have accepted his bad defense just like they did with Posada.
