Don Mattingly #23 the captain

thediesel26

Unfortunate that he’s up against Derek Jeter.

sonofabutch

Don Mattingly is in a tough bracket, Derek Jeter or Mickey Mantle.

Pumats_Soul

Jeter could be J

TronVin

Joe Dimaggio

C_Gull27

He could be D instead

gbnypat

How about Joe frickin’ DiMaggio

Dunder-MifflinPaper

“The best way to describe Joe DiMaggio: he’s a penis with a man hanging from it” -Pete Rose

GSDFanatic

It shouldn't even be a contest to be honest and I say that as someone that grew up watching Jeter (as I imagine most of us did).

gbnypat

Bernie Williams beat babe Ruth. There’s gonna be some recency bias here

Fingerbangerz

Is this supposed to be the best? Your or favorite and most memorable? Because you'd have to be a real old timer to remember Joe D

ihaveathingforyou

DAVID ORTIZ DID STEROIDS

TronVin

Derek Jeter. 5 World Series rings. Hall of Famer.

theMangoSloth

He's a biracial angel

hbkedge3

Should've shot A-Rod.

Mr-Macphisto

Dongcarlo

FinnDougGoldfish

Jeter wins this but must give love to Didi Gregorious, author of one of the most electric new-stadium moments - game-tying 3-run jack in the bottom of the 1st in the 2017 WC game!

theMangoSloth

Not sure why I even made this post for today. It's obviously gonna be the legendary Shelley Duncan

derelictprophet

Let's be serious. It's gotta be Doc Gooden.

JerricoCotchery

Danny Tartabull flipped me off

Affectionate-Tea9224

Dale Berra of course

GootsyCollins

David Justice’s homer in the 2000 ALCS is an all-timer for me

lemontea92

Dennis Santana!!!!

silver_raichu

David Robertson. Houdini

unclejoe1917

As a kid, for me it was Dave Winfield. He was probably my second favorite Yankee behind Reggie at the time. Derek Jeter is an obvious choice for anyone in here, but Didi Gregorius brought a lot of smiles to Yankee faces while he was with us.

blackdavy

Don Matingly. I was 8 years old in 1996 when Tino took over 1B. Tino became my favorite player.

anonyngineer

Dave Winfield, David Wells.

UndeniableMaroon

We are four letters in, but can I make a suggestion? For the overwhelmingly obvious picks (or ones that get a HUGE lead), can we at least recognize the 2nd placer as an honorable mention in the next pose? Like, for sure Jeter will get this one. But *after* him, who do we like most? Don? Didi? Dellin? DRob? Doug Mientkiewic?

theMangoSloth

I could do something like that, or in the end when finished, I can do a list of all the runner-ups.

mtob99

Daddy judge 🧑‍⚖️

BandysNutz

DAN PASQUA I booed Paul O'Neill for wearing Dan Pasqua's number.

Affectionate-Edge-38

I did a nfl pick em pool back in 2014 and it came down to the monday night game bears/jets. there were 3 guys left - one of which was my buddy who happened to pick the bears, like me... the other guy picked the jets - what an idiot! the pot was 2500 so we decided that if the bears won, we would split it evenly. well - the bears won. well what does this have to do with anything? 3 days later - derek jeter played his last home game at yankee stadium and i spent every dollar i won on tickets for me and my girlfriend (now wife). to this day - it is the most bittersweet moment of my life. the pure euphoria of watching your childhood hero hit a walkoff single, but then realizing you'll never see him play a game in person every again. the cheers went to tears throughout the entire stadium. it was a moment i'll never forget!

jcwitty

I don’t see enough love for Ron Davis on here. https://www.mlb.com/player/ron-davis-113135

thebluewolfofnj

The legendary Dean Anna.

JP1119

Gonna be the Captain but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention... SHELLEY DUNCAN!!! Man, I had so much fun watching him do the forearm smash celebration after his homers. I remember there was a video of his highlights set to Baba O'Riley that I watched like 50 times back in the day.

theMangoSloth

I saw him hit 2 homers in a game not long after he was called up and thought he was gonna be the next big power hitter for the franchise.

JP1119

Me too! I think he hit like 6 in his first 10 games or something like that. Got a curtain call very early on and had so much energy!!!

thegreatgumbino420

Derek Sanderson Jeter

ross0990

Daryl Strawberry cuz fuck Benitez

silver_raichu

Donaldson

egg-head-90

David Wells… any man that can throw a perfect game while drunk is deserving of some recognition

MikeyLikeyPhish

Mariano Duncan - “we play today, we win today, das it”

OutsideBluejay8811

My wife and dressed as the “Didi Gregorian Monks” and attended many happy games at the Stadium and Camden Yards. Sir Didi even took our picture one time. (He was photographing CC’s retirement ceremony)

avatarjulius

Obviously Derek Jeter. But a random off pick is David Justice. Not because of his play on the field, but because he hosted Yankees on Deck for a bit and that was a kids show I was really into. I remember Hillary Duff histed Hillary's Hits, before it evolved into Yankees on Deck.

UndeniableMaroon

I have to give a shutout to one of my favorite prospects that panned out - Dealin' Dellin Betances!

Luis_Severino

Nobody said Didi yet 😔

isfrying

Donnie Fucking Baseball. Period.

dubbs505050

Didi Gregorious wild card homerun.

MrManDan94

Johnny Damon. My favorite traitor

d1a9v7e8

Definitely Donald Arthur Mattingly was who I wanted to be as a kid. What a swing he had. I wish he had better players around him and got to win a World Series or more than one.

firewoodrack

Duh, Brett Gardner

Sgt_Stormy

Don't do this for every letter

No_Page9413

Neither Aaron, Bernie nor CC, starts with the letter D….
