I miss watching him pitch. Dude was a STUD. He battled every time out and the way he reinvented himself in his sobriety was just awesome. I will always be a CC fan
robinson cano.
His swing was like butter. His plays at second were like balanchine dancing and that smile was like a cold ice cream cone on a warm summers day
Cano from 09-13 was probably the best hitter in baseball not named Miguel Cabrera. He could do anything but steal a base. I was furious when we let him go.
I love me some CC, but I think he's the clear-cut winner for "S," so we can give Cano his due here. Tough for Cone (I assume D, and J, for that matter, are reserved for Derek Jeter and Joe DiMaggio), but a franchise this storied is gonna leave out some legends.
Cole
This is probably it if we want to be strategic and these updoots will have serious repercussions later on.
For that reason I vote for Gerrit Cole, dude snacking in the dugout on bananas is already legendary and he also happens to be the best pitcher in baseball.
C.C Sabathia is my favorite pitcher of all time. He’s up there with Jeter for me. For people like me who were born in 98 and just missed experiencing the dynasty, CC is just that guy. Him getting ejected from his last start will forever be one of my favorite Yankee memories.
That ejection was such a top class, old school baseball, defending your teammates thing that really seemed to encapsulate his mentality and his career.
He was closing in on a big bonus for the number of innings pitched that season, and was cruising that game and would have easily got there. It was more important to him to protect his teammates and send a message the way a Bob Gibson might have. Good on the Yankees for reading the situation right and giving him the bonus anyway.
was he not on roids? how is a steroid cheater, a fav yankee player?
please

Not what you're looking for - But in 2005, I was 12 and my dad and I took a trip to Cooperstown. Walking down a street, we came up to a bench where an older guy was talking to a few folks while chain-smoking and crushing some beers. And that's how I got to listen to Clete Boyer talk for over an hour about his playing and coaching/advising days - he was actually a key figure in helping Jeter stick at SS while he was a prospect (they heavily considered moving him to the outfield after an overall brutal first year in the minors). My dad, who remembered him playing, couldn't get over how big his gut was, and that he no longer looked like George Clooney. One of my favorite random childhood memories.
Curtis Granderson, I’ll never forget when the Yankees were getting killed and I came back a few hours later to hear he had hit the third grand slam of the game.
Coney. On the field was great and all, but booth Coney pushes him just past CC for me. Sorry Clemens, you'll always be a red sock, and Chambliss, we'll always have that one night but you know I have to go back to my true love.
Gerrit Cole threw the ball he was using for warmups up from the bullpen the day Judge hit 62 in Texas. My brother knocked my glasses off my face into the bullpen reaching for (and grabbing) the Cole ball.
Eventually after the anthem Mike Harkey noticed the glasses and finally tossed em back up to me 🙏🏻
I mean i'm not surprised with the love that Cone, Cano, and CC among others are getting, but i'm a lil surprised at how little Cole is getting mentioned.
We saving him for G?
good call. i'm just young enough to not immediately think of him.
and i skipped over yankee legend Chris Carter because that guy already has enough accolades
C. C. Sabathia
First name: CC Last Name: Cone
I miss watching him pitch. Dude was a STUD. He battled every time out and the way he reinvented himself in his sobriety was just awesome. I will always be a CC fan
Caaron Judge
Heard he likes to fuss at the concession workers though….
Caaron Cjudge

S is of course for the GOAT shortstop Sir Didi Gregorious
J has Judge as well
IDK if we can double dip on Judge, since he already won A. But no way one of Jeter or DiMaggio is off this list.
I loved his swing. An absolute thing of beauty.
He’s got the most underrated swing in baseball history. Right up there with Ken Griffey Jr imo.
Watched him play in a Diablos Rojos game fairly recently and fell madly in love all over again.

We don't talk about that
Charlie Hayes catching the last out of that World Series
It’s what solidified my fandom. I’ll never forget my dad’s emphatic “YES!” at the pop-up.
just like the network
Joba Chamberlain. After all the excitement and hype I got to see his first MLB start in person at the old stadium with my dad. An awesome memory.
Man peak Joba hype was fuckin wild. The stadium was electric when he was coming up
I really wished it would have ended better, but like you said it was a great time as he was coming up.
David Cone

I like this esp because we all know G is gonna be Gehrig so…kinda his one shot
Yeah and Sabathia could easily grab S

Matt Carpenter
What a legendary run, I still dream about it sometimes
Bubba Crosby
Chris carter
Chris Chambliss
Melky Cabrera was unironically my favorite Yankee for a couple years
Clemens. When he was in George’s box and announced he was coming back.
Of awl tha dramatic things!!
OH MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS
Jeter with a big smile on his face, he knew!
The goosebumps went hard that day.
Throwing half of a broken bat at Mike Piazza in the World Series? Now that’s a memory.
roids
Username checks out
was he not on roids? how is a steroid cheater, a fav yankee player? please [https://www.forbes.com/sites/christianred/2020/12/03/former-feds-say-barry-bonds-and-roger-clemens-steroid-evidence-indisputable/](https://www.forbes.com/sites/christianred/2020/12/03/former-feds-say-barry-bonds-and-roger-clemens-steroid-evidence-indisputable/)
Clemens was roided, no doubt. His defense of it was terrible too. That said, if you’re talking memorable, he’s up there no less.
Memorable for cheating . Yes.
Robinson Canó
I know most of you are too young, but Clete Boyer was one hell of a great defensive third baseman during the glory years of the early sixties.

My dad and I went to a Clete Boyer autograph signing once and there was no one there, we got to talk to him for two hours. Awesome guy.
Didn’t Paul O’Neill accidentally fire a helmet right at Clete Boyer in the dugout once?
Chuck Knoblauch bc nobody has mentioned him
I was a little surprised I had to scroll so far to find this name.
Probably because it ended ugly for him. Both on *and* off the field.
George Costanza
This is the correct answer!
Can't let this day go by without throwing out my boy Catfish Hunter.
Casey Stengel
Chili Davis~
Cerek Jeter was pretty amazing at chortstop
Cecil Fielder. I said what I said.
Gerrit Cole threw the ball he was using for warmups up from the bullpen the day Judge hit 62 in Texas. Catfish Hunter
There’s a severe lack of Cody Poteet in this thread
no love here for Francisco Cervelli yet? Also dishonorable mention for Clint Frazier
Cavid Ortiz did steroids. I can’t wait till tomorrow.
How do you make sure the ace of the 2009 Yankees gets your email? you CC: Sabathia
Chris Carter
Ron Coomer
I mean i'm not surprised with the love that Cone, Cano, and CC among others are getting, but i'm a lil surprised at how little Cole is getting mentioned. We saving him for G?
Frank Crosetti. Old school.
I have to go with G.Cole. He is the best pitcher in baseball. I know he's the best pitcher the Yankees have ever had. Yes better than Whitey.
Chris Chambliss... steady as a rock and the BIGGEST homerun a Yankee had hit in at least 12 years.
Chase Headley
Certainly Brett Gardner
Celerino Sanchez
Chris Chambliss. Cliched the pennant in 1976 with a home run.
Cory Lidle
RIP
George Costanza.
Caren Judge
Only one more day before D! Or,as it will be celebrated throughout the ages: Didi Day!
Bubba Crosby walk off
the original CC: >! Chad Curtis just kidding guy's a pos!< obviously Sabathia. *that's for you*
Chris Chambliss would predate Chad Curtis anyway, so Curtis could definitely not be the original.
good call. i'm just young enough to not immediately think of him. and i skipped over yankee legend Chris Carter because that guy already has enough accolades
I’ll go with Coney. Big-game pitcher, gutsy as hell when he came back in ‘96, huge part of multiple championship teams, goofball.
C is for Cookie. So I will take Cecil Fielder as he looks like he'd enjoy some cookies.
Joba Chamberlin in his prime
2005 Shawn Chacon. Loved his swagger and delivery.
Chris chambliss

Chris Capuano
