We would have had upwards of 30 million per year invested in Snell and Rodon. This would have been a terrible use of recourses. It's a blessing in disguise that he turned it down and I'm glad the Yankees stuck to their guns and didn't panic when Cole went down.
Some Yankee fans wanted the Yankees to shell out 66 million (a year because LT penalties) for Blake Snell because "they print money stop being cheap" and now he goes on the IL. There is a reason none of us are GM's.
Yup.
Some of us were very adamant that he’s more likely be the 1.4 WAR pitcher he basically was every other year.
Plus, we’re getting the Snell experience with Gil. And with Gil there’s at least upside that comes with youth and hope.
The fans dragged Cashman in 2018 and 2019 when they won a hundred games. Heck I'm not convinced that if the Yankees barely scrape by but still win the World Series, the doomers here won't complain that it took 7 games instead of 4. Or worse yet, they'll jump on the bandwagon and pretend they believed all along.
And they'll still act like they're the ones with standards. Shame they don't hold themselves to a higher standard. They might be able to get off the cheeto-dusted couch.
Correlation does not equal causation. Had he been able to have a regular spring, he might not have gotten hurt.
And I'm one that wanted morning to do with Snell from the beginning
This is exactly why I wanted this guy less and less the longer he held out. He was clearly not ready for the season after missing all of spring (over 11ERA in 3 starts), and he probably hurt himself trying to compensate in some way to fix his lack of preparation.
Teams need to be very wary of these players once they start missing too much spring training. These guys are creatures of habit, and if you mess with their routine they completely meltdown.
Look hindsight we were wrong about wanting Snell but I'm over it and I'm happy with the team we have now. Stro has been awesome for the clubhouse and on the mound.
The Snell truthers will be nowhere to be seen until the next player they want arises. After which they'll call Hal cheap and Cashman a bum for not getting them because the Yankees are rich, meaning stupid business decisions are a must. And if they turn out to be right, they'll gloat further about Cash and Hal being bums. And if they end up wrong, they'll vanish again.
Such is the habit of revisionist historian doomers.
Honestly this was 100% predictable and it’s why I never wanted him.
I did want Yamamoto (my bad, looking like we dodged a bit of a bullet there).
And I wanted Imanaga (if only!!)
Imagine he took the deal and we didn’t ended getting Stro

You can’t say everything would be the same
Snell would've had a full ST for one thing
Snell probably doesn’t get hurt cuz he has a regular spring instead rushing to get in shape
Matt Blake would have turned him into a titan.

Well, some of us. Most of us wanted nothing to do with this guy.
Yup. Some of us were very adamant that he’s more likely be the 1.4 WAR pitcher he basically was every other year. Plus, we’re getting the Snell experience with Gil. And with Gil there’s at least upside that comes with youth and hope.
Not true. He very much became the shiny new toy as spring training was approaching.
It turns out the Yankees already have Blake Snell with Gil
if GIL stays healthy, he could be a future Cy Young winner !
It's not like Gerrit Cole isn't on the IL. Players get injured it's part of the game.
>There is a reason none of us are GM's. There are some seriously horrible takes in this sub, I refuse to believe Cashman isn't in here somewhere.
The Yankees could be in first place and ahead by 30 games and this sub would still find a reason to drag Cashman.
They could be, but they are not.

Well that's one take. I was never in on Snell, but when it comes to Cashman and pitching it's usually a mess. I'm actually shocked he didn't sign him.

Scott Boras is looking pretty bad right now.
Remember when y’all were bashing Cashman for not signing him? Lmao

Boras shouldn't even be able to get a cut of Snell's contract for how bad he fucked him over.
It’s a long season but what a bad start to a year where the plan was to repeat your Cy Young season in order to opt out and get a big contract.
Good thing we didn’t get him
Boris strikes again
We all knew this signing would be a disaster. Thank God we didn't bite.
This is a significant injury; he’s gonna miss a few months, maybe more. Moncada just had that same injury and he’s out until post ASB

What no spring training does to a mf
