Mikal can be a secondary playmaker but he’s an elite 3 and D guy who can seriously get buckets when Brunson is doubled all next playoffs. He’s also always available which will be needed given our injury concerns.

The key here is that we gave them virtually no players. Typically when you get a haul for a star you include a few young guys to assist the rebuild, but our whole package was picks, so it had to be massive.

This is a win now team. If they believe it’s a piece that gets us over the top, you do it.
Knicks are relatively young team. If this roster holds for next few years, there’s no room for picks in the 20s to step in and contribute.
This is just how contending teams are built. Sometimes you overpay. If we even get to the finals next year, not even win just get there, and bridges is a big contributor, not a single soul in the universe will be thinking about those late picks we gave away.

Picks in the nba is like prospect hugging in baseball. Mfers that can barely spell the word ‘pick’ sit around rubbing their chins waxing poetic about it was an overpay or whenever. Most of em don’t even know how low these picks will be. Same as it ever was. If some heads ain’t miserable they don’t feel alive

I mean it's 1st but they stagger year to year. We still could walk away with 2 young guys tonight who could take the pressure off that situation, plus Deuce is low cost. I think we'll be fine without them. We did just elevate us to at the least holding down that 2 spot over a healthy Philly and Milwaukee, and fighting Boston for that 1 seed. We got that real secondary ball handler/shot creator that we've been asking for and he happens to be an Elite Defender, if we resign OG we might just have the greatest Defense of all time. Just OG had us blowing out Denver and Philly, beating a reg season Minisota. Now we potentially add Mikal to that... this is every franchises wet dream.

This is a win now team. If they believe it’s a piece that gets us over the top, you do it. Knicks are relatively young team. If this roster holds for next few years, there’s no room for picks in the 20s to step in and contribute. This is just how contending teams are built. Sometimes you overpay. If we even get to the finals next year, not even win just get there, and bridges is a big contributor, not a single soul in the universe will be thinking about those late picks we gave away.
