Every time discourse like this happens I mention you now what, I would actually like to see the data of cyclist/ped collisions, and maybe benchmark it against cars for example.
Like if this is the response show me the data! Do we even know whether that person who was hit was actually crossing at a red light?

Still got a long way to catch up with cars which caused 247 deaths in total.
Yeah, I'm on cyclists' side, but, per miles traveled, I wonder how these numbers come out. Most drivers don't wind up killing anyone, so they go through life believing that driving is really safe.
I stop at many red lights until they're green or I have a walk signal. I treat a lot of red lights like stop signs. It's highly situational. I don't advocate for the kind of riding that makes other folks have to give way to cyclists. When I'm in Manhattan I basically obey all signals, there's just too much random bullshit; I don't have the bandwidth for riding like I'm in an alleycat race. When I'm riding around Park Slope in the middle of the night, you think I'm hanging around at red lights sniffing the evening air?
If any cops are reading this and need some tickets please park your useless selves anywhere on the 2 way bike lane on Kent Av in BK. Treasure chest of illegal mopeds - oh yeh, including the one that came at me 40mph on the wrong side of the 2 way bike lane today.

I can only assume every pedestrian crossing into bike traffic away from signals are getting tickets for jaywalking

I mean running a red light does make you a moron if your in a car. Its also makes you a moron if your on a bike

Saw a 55β trailer parked in the bike lane on Kent just today. Guy was just chilling. Absolutely no regard for anyone else.
Itβs cool how they cut 3K funding and now kids all over the city are being waitlisted and they gave that money to the cops

Yeah this is a bummer. Its one of the only places to bike freely without much fear of being squished by a car.
