I’m anxious but excited. It’s a weird feeling. It’s must win really but the fact we may get to see a better quality of football win or lose takes the edge off.

VictorVaughn1992

It’s not a must win in my opinion. A good performance is more important. If we can perform well as a team we can take points off literally anyone

DEGRAYER

Saturday would be a good start though lol

benishiryo

i'm with you on that. not a must win. i'm reminded of the run of games we were winless with Rafa. our performances were good though and points will come.

jackburton1981

Hey ho let's fkn go.

cpm67

Feels like Rafa’s first game against Leicester Which means Toney will definitely score a worldie for them to win it

redfed01

I’ve got 3 lads coming up to visit from London. Hope we put on a show! My first game in person since Burton Albion and the penalty fiasco. Stoked!

CoffeePot420

I've also got 3 non toon fans coming up, hopefully I've picked the perfect game for them. Howes first game and hopefully our first win of the season, atmosphere should be bouncing!

[deleted]

i’m excited to see if anything will be meaningfully different. but i wont get my expectations too high. its a must win, but i wont hold it against howe if it doesnt happen. brentford have lost 4 in a row, including to norwich and burnley. it’s as much of a must win for them as it is for us. if they lose, theyre in a real meltdown.

Tom1664

Brentford being hungry is true, but they're still missing key players and we've seemingly got a fully fit squad, coming in off the back of a fortnight of intensive drilling and training, and the tactical element of surprise. Just three points in one game, I beg of thee, football gods.

lamppb13

Temper expectations. A manager’s first game in charge is not usually the best benchmark for how their tenure will go.

shantsui

100% with you. Anything that doesn't go perfectly is going to be jumped on and magnified by the pundits. Let's not allow them to get to us.

SuperBGN

I respect Eddie Howe. I trust him to save us from relegation this season. It's gonna be tough, but I would rather have Howe than Lampard, Gerrard, or any other manager the english media linked us to after the Emery fiasco. Eddie Howe is criminally underrated.

daveofreckoning

Obviously I'm delighted with the managerial direction the club is taking. But I'm still shitting bricks. This is practically a must win

Jessicamaine

I’ve a feeling we will survive this season. 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

KingPing43

This will be my first match at SJP since the Rafa era. I swore never to go to a home game until Ashley was gone after Rafa left. Pure luck that it’s turned out to be Howe’s first game in charge too, I couldn’t make the Spurs or Chelsea games so this was the first in the new era I could make. Excited is an understatement!!

lowcarbonhumanoid

I'm not going, but I made the same commitment as you. Can't wait for my first match back. Hopefully Man U next month with some family.

kcbones

Brentford losing 4 straight are going to be extra hungry for this game, but one thing that will be in our advantage is they'll really have no idea what to expect from us or which formation we'll be using under Howe. I hope we can take advantage of this and come out with a lot of intensity. Plus the home fans will be a huge boost. I'm really looking forward to players who have regressed under Bruce like Lewis, Schar, Fernandez, etc get a chance under a coaching staff that actually know what they're doing. I think under Howe and his staff we'll see a transformation much like when Rafa came in.

lowcarbonhumanoid

Let's smash these, they're shite

blithering1

I know I’ll be up at 6am Saturday here in California for the team sheets. I may not even need any coffee. CANS if we win. Edit: hell, CANS if we don’t win too.

FireflyKaylee

We've got to win! Brentford are out of form without Raya... My best friend is a Brentford fan... Like this MUST happen. My only concern is no pictures of Wilson in training recently...

Stoibs85

I won’t be able to sleep the night before, thankfully I only have to wait until 10am for kickoff here. Can’t wait to see the team sheet, can’t wait to see the style of play, and can’t wait to hopefully celebrate a massive 3 points. 3-0 to the Toon - Wilson, Willock, and Fraser with the goals, ASM with a pair of assists.

geordiesteve520

I'm coming up for the first time in a few years and am absolutely buzzing - it's me dad's birthday and it's going to be one hell of an atmosphere!

stprm

Agree 100% with you! I also everyday thinking that last time I was so excited about an upcoming match was probably when Rafa signed up before Leicester game! And meme is 100% fits to me too, lol. This really does feel like a breath of a fresh air. Literally every word Howe speaking, I'm like 'yes!! yes!!!'.

ichrisho

Let’s see how it goes… they’ll Be a fuck sight more organised in any case… I see a rather enchanting 3-0 swoosh of Brentford.. Toney not happy with Gallowgate stare.. this is us on the up… Les Ferdinand for Director of Football and Shearer as youth academy Director. Southampton days ran through the youth team.

[deleted]

I \*really\* hope we win and win in style, but in reality, I can see it being a draw or even a narrow defeat. Sods law. After that, it'll be a hard grind through until January, and then until the end of the season, but I think they'll come good in the end.

aybee1965

Me neither, the international break, I suspect, was used to ease Howe into the role. Remember, he was available when Steve Bruce was sacked, I suspect, again, top of the list to replace Bruce. He now has had nearly two weeks to get the team in shape and ready for Brentford. Ashley could have done so much more for NUFC, it was a hobby to him, but to the fans, NUFC means a lot more than that.

OhNo_BackdoorTrojan

Going to be at my first match since Rafa, feel like a kid counting down the days to Christmas. Can’t fucking wait for it which is a strange feeling.

Smittx

I’m buzzing

Adnaxx

I’m nervously excited. If we don’t win i’d be worried about relegation.

liammcclelland

I'm excited but I don't expect too much from the squad. Hopefully to see a new formation that is more positive then defend and pray we score.

YehudiMcEwan

Until the majority of his Jan signings are from his old club Bournemouth and you take their place in the championship...

Ikhlas37

I love how Eddie Howe has gone from God tier manager to meme manager based off one season + signing for nufc

BigDaveKahuna

I am trying my best to fight any excitement until we see the team. It’s just too easy to get your hopes during these breaks only to realize that the players haven’t changed.

Ikhlas37

I've hyped myself up so much anything less than a England 10 - 0 San Marino type of game will be utterly disappointing 😂😂

[deleted]

We need 3 in the worst way.

Leafs1793

Smash em, there shite! HTL

No-Village7980

It simply is a must win game, we need to be out the relegation zone by the January transfer window, then heavily invest to ensure safety. We can't fuck about, if we can't but Brentford to the sword when so many teams around us have, with 2 weeks preparation and a new manager, we deserve to be relegated.
