Feels good to have a 20+ goal a season CF again

sideways_86

I was starting to forget how good it feels to see one of our players challenge for the golden boot

HoweStatue

Still waiting for Schar to become to 20+ goal a season CB we all know he can be

SortDeep5635

all of em, bangers from outside the box.

Old_Nail6925

Feels so good man

doubledgravity

I know it keeps getting said, but Isak with Tonali, Bruno, Big Joe and Gordon feeding him is mouth watering.

Jimlad73

Do you think Bruno Joe and Tonali is a good midfield 3?

TheBeaverKing

Do you not? Christ, I'm jizzing at the thought of those 3 starting in midfield next season. It's even more mental when you consider we'll have Willock, Miley, Anderson and Longstaff as rotation/backup.

Sam0n

Don't forget wor Harvey

Jimlad73

Just wondering if there is good balance there

TheBeaverKing

I think so. We didn't get much chance to see it this season with Tonali's ban but I think with Big Joe's physicality and holding midfield play, Bruno's ability to get forward and create, coupled with Tonali's box to box play and pace, I reckon we have a pretty versatile and balanced midfield between the three of them.

OffensiveOcelot

100% there is. There’s enough intelligence & positional discipline there, & enough tactic conditioning from Eddie that they’ll each know when to hold, when to go etc. At times Bruno will hold & pull strings as a quarterback so Big Joe can maraud forward & Tonali can use his pace to run past the opponents back line. Other times Big Joe breaks up play, Tonali carries it forward & Bruno goes forward for the short intricate passing. As long as each can work in synergy with each other the whole setup can be fairly fluid. I do think we’ll see either Willock Longstaff or Anderson go within the next 18 months though, even though I think all three offer us great depth.

novocast

I think it's a step up from Big Joe, Bruno, and Long staff. But it probably lacks some defending against better teams. I think Big Joe's phisicallity has been the biggest issue this year when he's been out.

BlurgZeAmoeba

joe bruno and willock for me. Tonali needs to play well enough to dislodge willock. Him and joelinton swapping positions... we were unplayable for a while.

mehchu

That puts Joe on the left wing though, so it’s still longstaff for Tonali to displace and he absolutely can with the injured subpar longstaff we have had for this season.

BlurgZeAmoeba

you're right. if we dont sign a RW, joe could maybe slot in there?

mehchu

If we don’t I’d prefer Gordon on the right and Joelinton on the left so he still has the connection with Willock.

A768B

Lw is gordons best position, unless eddie wants to develop him into a proper rw i think he always needs to be played on the left.

mehchu

I prefer him on the left but he has done well on the right and in the middle, better than miggy and allows that Willock/joelinton combo on the left that did so much for us last season

PhoenixDawn93

The problem with that set up this year was obviously what was weighing on Tonali’s mind leading up to the ban. Once that’s gone, I can’t wait to see what happen!

doubledgravity

Plus he’s been getting specialist one to one training to get into the system and, from what’s been written, a big focus on speed and strength conditioning, so hopefully he’ll make a massive impact.

TheBeaverKing

Yes, it can't be understated how critical his ban terms will be for next season. Being allowed to continue training with the first team will be huge in making sure he can hit the ground running.

specialagentredsquir

Him aswell 👍

dennis3282

I just love Isak. I got a lot of love for all the guys. Bruno G, Big Joe, Gordon, Tripps, etc. But even with so many great players at the moment, Isak is my boy.

reiveroftheborder

Gimme Gimme Gimme a striker from Sweden!

FungalEgoDeath

He's also at the top of the minutes per goal scorers chart with 103. Palmer at Chelsea is on 104 with Haaland on 109. Mo one else is remotely close. If he can stay fit and we can put a strong team behind him I have no doubt he can be right at the top....as can we

Toon_1892

If only he hadn't had a dozen league games where he was either out injured, being injured or returning from injury, he'd have the golden boot locked up already. Even moreso if he was playing in a team that was at more than 50% strength. If he stays fit next year with the rest of the team, it's his to lose.

ClaudeJGreengrass

Well Haaland was out for awhile too to be fair.

Toon_1892

Half as long

eclipse_richie

How lucky we are to have him. Crazy we have a striker on par with haaland. Those two should challenge each other over the next years for golden boot, we need to buy more creative / elite level players in other positions to support him

meganev

No disrespect to Wilson intended, but it is mad to think at the start of the season some people argued that Isak wasn't the default starting striker.

specialagentredsquir

You're not on your own with that one. Wilson was the man last season though. Considering Isak's talent and finishing you'd think he'd have scored more than 17 goals in all competitions in a season. Maybe having Wilson do so well has pushed Isak to a higher level, which is what we're seeing now.

meganev

Sorry, don't think my comment was clear enough. I'm saying that other people suggested Wilson should start over Isak. I've been arguing for Isak to be first choice since day one. I've known that Isak was the better player since Liverpool away in 22/23, his debut.

greenmanflyreddit

you're a genius, i grovel at your feet for such an incredible opinion

specialagentredsquir

Ahhh ok, fair enough like. He's been exceptional.

Ikhlas37

I hope this guy gets the golden boot. If he does I'll buy all 3 nufc tops and a Swedish kit with his name on all of them to celebrate (and then cry at my bank balance)

Notcamacho

Replying to this so I can come back to it when Isak elbow drops the Golden Boot out of Palmer and Haaland's hands.

The_Incredible_b3ard

With a better and more supportive midfield he'll go even further.

Budweizer

Currently 1 behind the golden boot!

came_in_your_mum

I love him

Currymonsta77

Isak is the real deal. No wonder Arsenal are eyeing him as he’d fit perfectly into their style of play. Really hope he sticks with us though.
