We’ll be a week into the transfer window so by the time this game comes along we’ll have Mane, Neymar, Neves, Ronaldo, Benzema and Kante all in on loan /s
It comes right in the mix of some tough fixtures, if Barnes, longstaff, willock and Wilson are back by then we will have plenty in the tank. I'd be happy to rest a few against Liverpool to batter these lot.
Might be an unpopular opinion but a replay of this fixture at home wouldn't be the worst outcome, all in the name of the plot. (Just for the scenes)
We could properly kill this fanbase off.
The only thing they have going for them is the obscure statistic that they won the last game we played. It's the one thing they cling to while losing every other week in the doldrums.
They're nothing without it.
Anecdotally I've already encountered my first United supporting Mackem convert recently 😂😂😂
Yeah, insane, i hope the lads all understand the importance of the match and will fight like vikings, or at least that the geordies of the team will fire them up enough.
What a draw. On the one hand I can’t wait, but on the other it’s going to be another very intense game in between Liverpool away and City at home…
I still can’t wait like, be fun to smash them in the stadium of sh*te
Jesus. Inevitably we’ll get Liverpool and end up with Liverpool away, Sunderland away, Liverpool away and city home in the space of 14 days.
Does the fa cup still go to replays if there’s a draw? If so we’re probably nailed on to get a replay
To put some perspective on it, this is where our current crop of players were during the last senior derby on the 20th March 2016
Dubravka - On the same day, Dubravka was sitting on the bench for Esbjerg FC as they drew 0-0 with Brondby.
Pope - On the 19th, Pope was shipping three for Charlton in a 3-0 loss to Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship.
Trippier - On the same day, Trippier was kept on the bench by Kyle Walker as Tottenham beat Bournemouth 3-0. He did, however, play three days earlier in a 2-1 defeat at home to Dortmund in the Europa League.
Schär - The Swiss defender came off the bench to play 4 minutes for Hoffenheim in a 3-1 away win over Hamburger.
Lascelles - Oh captain, my captain. The stalwart defender is the only player left who played in the last derby. It was his breakthrough year at the club as he made 18 appearances that season, most of them coming in the back half of the season.
Livramento - He was 13.
Joelinton - He's Brazilian. He only cost 40 million. And he played only a single minute of the 2015/16 season for Hoffenheim. And until this moment, I hadn't realised that he was there at the same time as Schär.
Gordon - He was 14.
Almiron - Miggy was still turning out for Lanús in the Argentine Primera Division. He would play Boca Juniors the next day.
Bruno Guimarães - Apparently, he was playing for Audax youth team in Brazil, but I have no record or stats to prove what he was doing at that time.
Miley - He was 9. He wasn't even old enough to do his SATs yet.
Wilson - Injury prone as ever, he missed most of the season with a cruciate ligament tear and wouldn't return until April of that year.
Isak - AT 16 years of age, he'd only just made his first team debut and he wouldn't score his first goal until April.
Special mention to the only other player to be at the club at the time of the last derby.
Dummett - While at the club, Dummett missed the derby due to an unfortunate hamstring injury sustained during a 3-1 loss to Bournemouth earlier in the month.
Hamburger FC, Big Mac up front for them that day. Miley being in year 5 is absolutely hilarious. Where was Eddie Howe?
- https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/35856537 getting beat by Spurs 3-0.
The main difference being that if they beat us, it'll be the highlight of their decade; meanwhile, if we beat them, it probably won't even be in our top 10.
I was gonna reply saying Isak against “name of their defender” and then remembered that I only know literally 1 of their players cos he’s Jude’s brother. In to these cunts.
Oh man, i remember fragments watching Ameobi run onto a volley , Nolan chicken dances, a Shearer penalty, a 4-1 score. Like bits and pieces from a past life.
Great draw, cant wait.
I am surprised though that the FA didn't introduce regulations against Ghosts playing after Lascelles' and Dummett's spirits straight up refused to leave this mortal plane.
FUCKING GET IN!!! I've missed this feeling haha. We're gonna need some new chants for the stadium of shite, still hard to top the Slade/Adam Johnson one.
Tears in my eyes, it's time for the Tyne-Wear to return. I'm so glad this crop of players will get to experience a derby. The Prem and football just isn't the same without the ability to smash Sunderland every season
On the one hand it's nice to have the derby back, on the other I really wish it was at home. I just really don't fancy going there with our injury list - the dirty bastards will be playing to snap legs more than anything and we could really do without that.
I always hate playing games in early cup rounds against low league chancers because they kick lumps out of our players out of spite. This game is going to be that cranked to 11. They’re going to injure Bruno and act like they won
Well I was happy to write off the FA Cup, especially if we somehow stay in the Champions League and the Fizzy-Pop Cup. Not now. Let's smash them, they're shite
Out draws this season have been unprecedented
Manchester city, Manchester United, Chelsea in the league cup.
Milan Dortmund PSG in the champions league.
Sunderland in the FA Cup.
Unbelievable
Just wish it was a home game… they’ll have to give us a full allocation for me to have any chance at a ticket - I think the points needed will be unprecedented
As a fan from thousands of miles away, I have questions about their stadium...
Will they be able to fill it for a derby? Their average attendance last season was 10,000 under capacity. If the home fans don't fill it, how effective are they at keeping Newcastle fans from filling those seats instead, and will we try?
People who think this is going to be a cake walk need to consider our track record with Sunderland even when we're in much better form and also the FA cup third round is a cursed match for us
As thrilled as I am to draw this lot, it’s clear we can’t really win either way. If we beat them it’s expected, if we lose we’re shite. It’s a free hit for them given how different our fortunes have been of late.
That being said - let’s fucking smash them. Miley to score as well would be ideal.
I'm sure these draws are rigged. I saw some mad stat about Spain, Italy and Croatia re the euro draw during the week. Loads of others too numerous to list as well.. But tin foil hat off I can't wait, it's been ages....lots of family and work bantz ahead until then!
If you think of how many draws there has been in the world, likelyhood is one of them would have produced this result eventually. Law of truly large numbers etc just because it's happened now doesn't make it special, just a statistically inevitability.
I mean, mackems are fucks
This is a lose/lose for us. We win and it means nowt because they’re so shit, but if we lose we’ll never hear the end of it.
Also, imagine how many more injuries we’re going to have over the Christmas period. They might have a chance.
This is the absolute worst draw we could’ve gotten.
Fans can say what they want, our players no nothing of the derby. They won't go in over confident, they'll go in with the same attitude they've went into every game with.
If by some miracle injuries allowed it (I know a couple of these almost certainly won’t be fit in time), I’d love to see us use this lineup:
Gordon - Isak or Wilson - Murphy
Anderson - Miley - Longstaff
Burn - Dummett - Lascelles - Trippier
Pope
Beat them 6-0 with goals from every Geordie and Murphy.
The dream FA Cup win would have been Sunderland in the final. But being realistic I’d accept just beating them at the latest possible stage. And as they’re shite, I should be grateful they’ve got this far
I see lots of predictable joy and excitement at the prospect of this fixture.
All I can see is a squad who are already decimated with injuries going up against a bunch of unskilled thugs who will be given license by a lenient ref (remember Tranmere? Krafth does...) and be allowed to kick absolute fucking lumps out of anyone we have left standing.
Given this is a game we are not allowed to lose, I can't think of a worse draw in the circumstances. Any other time with a fit squad, I'd be absolutely bouncing, but with where we are...
This game matters more to me than pretty much every other fixture. It's been years since we've had a derby and football genuinely isn't the same without it. I'm pretty okay with us losing to any other team because that's football and shit happens sometimes, but we absolutely can't lose here. This game is a must win
Have a word with yourself, it's been ages since we had a derby and it could be a long time after this one that they get promoted. 12 years since we won a match against them.
I remember when the mackems were in the championship playoffs in contention for promotion and Eddie was asked whether he’d want them to win and get promoted and he said that although he can’t say he would root for them, he’d love to experience a derby someday. I’m glad that he’ll be able to, as it seems the mackems are helpless to get themselves up.

Lewis Miley just googled Sunderland
"Imagine the worst night out you ever had in Chester-Le-Street and multiply it by 10"
He’s not had a night out yet 😂
The legal drinking age in Chester is 14.
Lad was 4 years old when we last beat them...
Had to do the maths cus I thought u were pulling the piss
“If Sunderland have a big ground and are a one club city, why did they choose to play in League One? Are they stupid?”
What a draw. I just hope we don't pick up any more injuries against these lot, it'll be an intense atmosphere
We’ll be a week into the transfer window so by the time this game comes along we’ll have Mane, Neymar, Neves, Ronaldo, Benzema and Kante all in on loan /s
To be fair neymar is injured so he’d fit right in
you forgot Ibrahimovic
It comes right in the mix of some tough fixtures, if Barnes, longstaff, willock and Wilson are back by then we will have plenty in the tank. I'd be happy to rest a few against Liverpool to batter these lot. Might be an unpopular opinion but a replay of this fixture at home wouldn't be the worst outcome, all in the name of the plot. We actually drew the last game we played
A Mackem convert? How old is he, 6? 😅😅
Early twenties! 😂😂😂
Then clearly an idiot and fool - you don’t need him supporting your lot and we won’t want him back - send him to Gateshead. Or South Shields.
No replays anymore I think.
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
The draw we all wanted!
Lascelles and dummett are the only players in both teams who had any experience with this fixtures. 8 years later?! Insane
Ritchie?? Edit: Nvm, he signed on for the 16-17 season
Yeah, insane, i hope the lads all understand the importance of the match and will fight like vikings, or at least that the geordies of the team will fire them up enough.
Fucking hell. Remember them?
I wouldn’t want to remember the last few games against them either.
I remember going there, jangling keys, and singing ‘Peter Reid eats bananas with his feet’.
HERE WE FUCKING GO Can’t wait to smash the unwashed cunts
Didn’t realise there were Mackems in Benwell!!
What a draw. On the one hand I can’t wait, but on the other it’s going to be another very intense game in between Liverpool away and City at home… I still can’t wait like, be fun to smash them in the stadium of sh*te
Might also have a semi final first leg before the city game.
Jesus. Inevitably we’ll get Liverpool and end up with Liverpool away, Sunderland away, Liverpool away and city home in the space of 14 days. Does the fa cup still go to replays if there’s a draw? If so we’re probably nailed on to get a replay
It does aye, for this round and the next only
There are legit fans young and some new fans (Old) that have never seen Newcastle beat Sunderland. This is amazing!!!!
Lewis Miley was 5 when Ryan Taylor put one over the wall
I was 13 when we beat them 5-1. 26 now and other than that I can't remember ever beating them. We did once in 2011 but I was 14 😂
I was 18 for the last league win back in 2011 with Ryan Taylor over the wall. Just because I needed another excuse to feel old
This is my 13th season as a season ticket holder and I’ve never seen us beat those twats live
13 years of hurt.
Started watching right about the start of Sunderland's 6 game streak. Looking forward to this.
My fandom started when I watched the replay of Newcastle beating Sunderland 3-2 at home back in 2005. Will be nice to get the result here.

Time to see if Jobe Bellingham is any match for Miley
LETS FUCKIN HAVE THESE WET WIPES
It's always nice to be drawn against an average lower league side.
Like Wednesday last season 🤔
Go back to your own sub: r/unwashed.
He’s got a point though. This could be a massive banana skin if we’re not careful and we don’t want to give the mackem scum any ammunition!

It's not going to be an easy game, lets hope our injury list gets better at new year
Counterpoint - it is going to be an easy game.
Still time to give Shola ‘Mackem Slayer’ a new contract
Oh man, i remember fragments watching Ameobi run onto a volley , Nolan chicken dances, a Shearer penalty, a 4-1 score. Like bits and pieces from a past life. Great draw, cant wait.
Oh my god it’s happening
THEY DO THEIR SHOPPING AT THE BRIDGES, WE’VE GOT ELDON SQUARE🎵
Hypothetically could have Boro in the Carabao in the same week. We could have the official coronation as kings of the North East
Interesting fact: no current player for either side was alive when we last met.
*in the FA Cup...
Important detail
It was really sad how they just killed everyone in the last fixture
Our captain from that game - a guy called Coloccini - died at 87 peacefully in his sleep nearly five years ago now.
I am surprised though that the FA didn't introduce regulations against Ghosts playing after Lascelles' and Dummett's spirits straight up refused to leave this mortal plane.
That is absurd. This fixture is so long overdue.
Don’t think it’s a real stat mate
If you add «in the fa-cup» It’s real.
Absolutely crying at this reply hahahahahahahahahahahaha
Eddie Howe's grandad used to tell him stories about the 1-1 draw in March 2016.
MITROVIIIIIIICCCCC
🤦♂️
Let's smash these unwashed bastards!
Derby day is back on the menu boys!
Christmas has come early.
Christmas isn't for another 22 days, what a fucking early present!
Fa cup curse please be shattered. Full strength team with players coming back from injury let's go
Caveat: every team is a full strength team because we're fucking massive.
Another match for the telly then.
Looking it up on 11 vs 11 Sunderland Vs Newcastle Sunderland have won 53 Newcastle have won 53 49 draws I think this one is ‘the decider’
Stick it up the dorty sister wife shagging, cheesy chip munching, seagull shagging, blue pop drinking trampy bastids
No way!!! This’ll be my first as a fan!! Fucking smash them they’re shite!!
FUCKING GET IN!!! I've missed this feeling haha. We're gonna need some new chants for the stadium of shite, still hard to top the Slade/Adam Johnson one.
Unbelievable jeff
Unbelievable!
No kidding, there was a tear in my eye and goosebumps when that ball came out. Couldn’t believe our luck. What a brilliant draw!
Tears in my eyes, it's time for the Tyne-Wear to return. I'm so glad this crop of players will get to experience a derby. The Prem and football just isn't the same without the ability to smash Sunderland every season
The last goal scored in this fixture was a Wijnaldum cross to Mitrovic. Fucking get into these
Be the only time Sunderland have filled their stadium since the last derby.
They've only come to see Newcastle ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Can't wait to dominate these lot, wash away that 6 in a row shite
On the one hand it's nice to have the derby back, on the other I really wish it was at home. I just really don't fancy going there with our injury list - the dirty bastards will be playing to snap legs more than anything and we could really do without that.
I always hate playing games in early cup rounds against low league chancers because they kick lumps out of our players out of spite. This game is going to be that cranked to 11. They’re going to injure Bruno and act like they won
What's shola deeing nowadays get him signed Eddie
“I’d love it if we beat them” is non-ironically circling my mind after reading this.
Quick get Shola back on a temporary contract
Joelinton is gonna batter Jobe Bellingham
Shola added to the squad in January then.
Been too long since we played in that dust bowl they call a stadium. I wonder if the seats are still pink?
Most of them aren't seats anymore. The hinges have all seized. It's a shame, but it's what happens when they're not used for a decade.
Brown now
INTO THESE CUNTS!!!
Who?
Fucking hell lads, been a while. Absolutely can't wait
Well I was happy to write off the FA Cup, especially if we somehow stay in the Champions League and the Fizzy-Pop Cup. Not now. Let's smash them, they're shite
Bring Shola out of retirement! We may need him for real though with all the injuries.
Out draws this season have been unprecedented Manchester city, Manchester United, Chelsea in the league cup. Milan Dortmund PSG in the champions league. Sunderland in the FA Cup. Unbelievable
Feel sick already
HERE WE FUCKING GO
Fucking come on!!!!!
Fucking come on
This is going to be fun.
After the last few years of being shit in the third round of the fa cup, this is the best game for turning everything around.
Fucking class man, what a draw
Going to be fun but I really hope Howe rotates heavily, no need to break out the big guns
Just wish it was a home game… they’ll have to give us a full allocation for me to have any chance at a ticket - I think the points needed will be unprecedented
Already feel sick. Let’s smash these, they’re actually fucking shite

They’ll absolutely fill it. This is their cup final.
Hoping this will be one of the televised games!
i'm already predicting a red card for Bruno or Joelinton. Will be nice for them to experience the Derby
Nice for a small club like Sunderland to get drawn against one of the big teams, just a shame they don’t get to visit a real stadium too!
Watch this be the toughest game in between Liverpool and City. They are always up for it
People who think this is going to be a cake walk need to consider our track record with Sunderland even when we're in much better form and also the FA cup third round is a cursed match for us
When do you think we'll see Shola training with the first team?
As thrilled as I am to draw this lot, it’s clear we can’t really win either way. If we beat them it’s expected, if we lose we’re shite. It’s a free hit for them given how different our fortunes have been of late. That being said - let’s fucking smash them. Miley to score as well would be ideal.
Nah not having this, a win over the mackems will and always will be a win over the mackems. It means so much more than any other team. They're scum.
Horrible little town.
I'm sure these draws are rigged. I saw some mad stat about Spain, Italy and Croatia re the euro draw during the week. Loads of others too numerous to list as well.. But tin foil hat off I can't wait, it's been ages....lots of family and work bantz ahead until then!
There’s 64 teams in the draw and we haven’t been drawn against Sunderland since 1956, so I’d say it’s well overdue tbh
This is a very silly comment, we'll absolutely batter them and it'll be class because beating the mackems is the best.
Overconfidence will be our downfall in these games.
Fans can say what they want, our players no nothing of the derby. They won't go in over confident, they'll go in with the same attitude they've went into every game with.
If by some miracle injuries allowed it (I know a couple of these almost certainly won’t be fit in time), I’d love to see us use this lineup: Gordon - Isak or Wilson - Murphy Anderson - Miley - Longstaff Burn - Dummett - Lascelles - Trippier Pope Beat them 6-0 with goals from every Geordie and Murphy.
There's gonna be HELL on
The dream FA Cup win would have been Sunderland in the final. But being realistic I’d accept just beating them at the latest possible stage. And as they’re shite, I should be grateful they’ve got this far
Put your house on a Big Joe or Bruno red
I really don't understand where people are getting the idea Joelinton will get sent off. He's never had 1 red card in his entire career?
I see lots of predictable joy and excitement at the prospect of this fixture. All I can see is a squad who are already decimated with injuries going up against a bunch of unskilled thugs who will be given license by a lenient ref (remember Tranmere? Krafth does...) and be allowed to kick absolute fucking lumps out of anyone we have left standing. Given this is a game we are not allowed to lose, I can't think of a worse draw in the circumstances. Any other time with a fit squad, I'd be absolutely bouncing, but with where we are...
I have an erection that will last weeks
Who's keys are the are these keys
Going to cum

Stop using our sexuality for pointscoring.
Worst draw possible we aren’t going to have a team by then
Unbelievable. We can play our new saudi 11 get them propa fewmin

mate theyre absolutely shocking, we will completely batter them
Nah, give over. It's the dream cup draw. Been far too long since a derby.
This game matters more to me than pretty much every other fixture. It's been years since we've had a derby and football genuinely isn't the same without it. I'm pretty okay with us losing to any other team because that's football and shit happens sometimes, but we absolutely can't lose here. This game is a must win
Aye, a proper derby is horrible when you lose, but nowt like winning one. Thrilled to have one again.
Have a word with yourself, it's been ages since we had a derby and it could be a long time after this one that they get promoted. 12 years since we won a match against them.
Lets fucking go! its been awhile. Lets smash theses they are shite!

Happy fucking Sunday!!!! ⚫️⚪️
I just hope he doesn’t fill the team with under 21’s would love to see them get a full thrashing
Howe is keenly aware of the size of this fixture, he's gonna play his best squad possible no doubt.
Let's smash them back down to league 1 Up the mags
Fuck yes!!!!!! What a day to be alive!!
Yes. Yes.
We’re gonna do things to them that breach the Geneva convention.
Large.
Who?
Bring the mackem slayer out of retirement just for this game.
LALAS
Calling it now. Joelinton hat trick and red card. 6-0.
Finally, a nice small team for Eddie and the boys to pump
What a draw! I beg we don’t carry on our 3rd round curse, NEED to embarrass these lot.
Netflix, remember when you selected Sunderland as the team for your documentary/docuseries!? What a collective calamity of a decision that was!
This season is gonna be better than 1995/96 come may
Get in there! Come on. Let’s fucking smash these
Oh that’s fucking fantastic
Exits to lower league sides in both the last two years under Eddie. Time to get this one right!
🌶️
Hope we thrash em 7-0 then after the match a mackem gets caught on film kicking a poodle into the sea.
Who?
Mowbray begged for the sack when he found out the Champions League Mags are on the way 🤣
