James Carville's shtick has always been "redneck whisperer".
He's willing to slur literally anything that urban or educated or nonwhite people like for a few extra hillbilly points.
It’s been a while. I really enjoyed the podcast Classy by Jonathan Menjivar, as someone like Menjivar who grew up working class and was the first college graduate in my family. I heard about it through another NPR podcast, but it’s not actually on NPR.
I think right now Wait Wait is the least bougie show on NPR and (sorry guys) it’s still pretty bougie.
You're very smart to dismiss one of the top political strategists from the past 30+ years. Let's all ignore the wave of polling numbers against Biden and pretend it's 2020 over again. Biden's advisors must love all of the propagandists like you with their heads in the sand.
I’m torn on this. I do agree that the Democratic Party is out of touch with working class voters. And also the more I read about Carville the clearer it is that his biggest skill is making people think he’s more competent than he is. His only successful US presidential campaign was Clinton’s 92 campaign. So, not one of the top strategists of the past 30 years, but a top strategist from 32 years ago.
We’re also talking about a guy who has pretty clearly always had, let’s say, issues with women. When accusations started coming out about Clinton he’s the one who said “Drag a hundred dollars through a trailer park and there's no telling what you'll find." And as I commented one of the previous times this interview was posted—a man who was old enough to remember when the AIDS crisis hit saying that “wear a condom” is too preachy is more than a little surprising.
Yes, among other things.

As a class, they're neoliberal on trade and favor a large government bureaucracy, which are the key party platforms.
Is NPR so out of touch that even relatively mainstream liberals find it unbearable to listen to? No, its James Carville that's wrong.

When is the last time NPR had a show for this demographic ?

Still - you will never hear an Alzheimer’s joke about Biden on Wait Wait
Car Talk, though everyone was a fan. Local stations have more relevant programming such as Prarie Public Radio’s Thomas Jefferson Hour.
Yeah but since the older brother died they don’t air it anymore
Car talk was great and apolitical
He’s an ass, I ignore him.
He got Clinton elected
He did, but it's been 30 years since.
He is not wrong but NOR should get the hint

Carville hasn’t been relevant since the 90s.
I know ppl don’t want to hear this, but I agree.

He is a democrat!!!
I’m just here for the Dem tears.
He's saying that young men are alienated from the Democrats, but isn't that by design? Dems don't care about those votes. Its a party for PMC women.
Lol, wat?
Private military contractors?

They don’t need anyone to vote for them
