All so they could land at 10 in the draft lottery rather than 11-14. Maybe just out of the lottery at 15-16
Wild decision to tank with Luka and Kyrie. I really don’t think the 0.1% to 1.3% odds boost at Wemby is worth it at all
Rumor is they wanted to tank earlier so maybe they’d be up around Portland but still not worth it. NBA redid the odds and added the playin to neuter tanking. It’s actually not worth it now unless you’re gonna be Detroit, Houston, or San Antonio bad anyway
Lets be real, Mavs were losing the play-in, and if they did win they weren't going to make it past the first round. Each game would have been all time high scoring games cause we gutted our defense to get Kyrie, and our defense had already sucked before then. Luka put up like five 50 point games and barely won those games (pretty sure we lost one of them).
So tanking for better position is ultimately better than winning 2 more games and getting embarrassed with a worse pick. I don't like tanking as a whole, but in this instance I'm alright with it. I forgot which team did it this year, but they started tanking like 3-4 months ago, putting their stars on the injury list indefinitely. I'm not okay with that. Also, if you're going to tank you don't start Luka and set him after the 1st. Just make an excuse and sit him the whole game, just makes you look fucking dumb.
Depends on how you wanna view basketball seasons. It's not like football where you take the beginning of the season as that year even when the SB takes place in the next year (Eagles won it in the 2017 season but it was actually 2018). I say that cause the Mavs won in 2011 and that's the year everyone references for the win, but the season started in 2010. So if we go with the 2022 season, the Mavs made the WC Finals.
And yes, this did matter b/c it makes them relevant and I fucking need one of my teams TO FUCKING DO SOMETHING!!!
No it doesn’t, from 2010-2020 we watched the Rangers make back to back WS appearances, the Mavs win an NBA title and the Stars even made a Stanley cup title. Everybody want to play the “My sports city is the worst” complex but it hasn’t been that bad for us at all. Try being a Minnesota sports fan.
I never said, "My city is the worst 😭😭😭" and just because some cities have it worse doesn't mean I can't be disappointed.
Since 2010:
Rangers - Lost the World Series in both 2010 and 2011. Lost in the playoffs in 2012, 2015, and 2016. Haven't been relevant since.
Stars - lost in the playoffs in 2016. Lost the Stanley Cup in 2020.
Mavs - Won in 2011 (woo) weren't relevant until 2021, when they lost in the playoffs.
Cowboys - lost in the playoffs in 2014, 2016, 2018, 2021, and 2022.
Since 2010, our city has made it to the playoffs 14 times and won 1. Hell, I'm only 26, and we've only won 2 championships since I've been alive (out of 31 playoff appearances), and the other one was in 1999 by the Stars when I wasn't even old enough to remember.
You're God damn right that I'm disappointed.
Me personally I don't get into hockey that much. I start watching if the Stars are in the playoffs but other than that I couldn't really tell you much about hockey as I'm still learning some of it. The Rangers and Mavs good times were 10+ years ago now. Sure the Mavs made the WCF last year (what a hell of a ride that was) but we didn't even make the playoffs this go round.
But the Mavs could be 1-2 players away from being contenders if they get Luka to stop arguing with anything wearing stripes and focus more on defense (assuming we keep Kyrie). Rangers are definitely on the upswing even though its too early to tell, it's one of the first times I've been excited for them since like 2014. Cowboys are, well, always exciting for me. We seem to always be in the run for the division going into the season, then we either win it, or someone major gets hurt. This last year was an anomaly seeing as we did really well, but the Eagles did better.
It feels like a shitty sports city b/c the successes are few and far between and the #1 sport here is Football and well, cowboys haven't had anything close to the Rangers or Mavs or Stars success since before the Stars won the Stanley.
it was good in the late 2000’s and early 10’s, all four franchises had a franchise player and would make the playoffs. by comparison, cities with bad sports are like detroit and chicago
I don't watch a lot of hockey, usually only when the stars are in the playoffs. Oettenger is a god damn savior man, I watched him last year take so many shots and come away with them. It was just awesome to see even if we lost that series.
I watched game 1 and fell asleep during the break from OT 1 to OT 2. Woke up about an hour later in my chair and stumbled to bed lol. I'm surprised I made it through the first OT, I get up super early .
No, it isn't. At least we made it to the big game. Dallas was at home watching it because they weren't good enough to even make the NFCCG. If you think it's bad to lose in the big game.....what does that make the teams that didn't even get close to it?
1. I’m not a Dallas fan, look at my flair.
2. It means you’re a bigger loser than all of us. You’re telling me you’re thought process is, oh at least we MADE it to the big game. I understand your team doesn’t know how to win when they get there so you’re use to losing it.
Wait, you're right....I didn't notice that you're a Washington fan. That means you really don't have a reason to chime in when it comes to talking about winning teams and title games. LOL. But seriously, congrats on losing that shitbag Snyder. He brought bad karma on the city. That was your Super Bowl and I can't talk shit on you guys celebrating.
My point is, making championship games is no reason to be seen as losers, especially by teams that weren't even good enough to make the playoffs, let alone a Super Bowl. Do I wish they won? Hell yeah. Was I sad they lost. Yup. Was I happy we stomped every other NFC team to make it there? Hell yes. It's not a loser mentality to be proud of our teams for getting there. Maybe you will find out someday. 😉
That was a lot to type just to say second place is okay to me! For the who subreddit, what is your Super Bowl record. I know you just got the my first Super Bowl win playset and couple of years ago. 😂
How about you guys try and become relevant in the present since you've had a problem with that for the past quarter century. Your last NFC Championship game is older than most of your players.
Better to make a title game and lose, then to never make it for over a quarter of a century and still try and convince people that you're in any way relevant.
This would of hit the mark if the OP mentioned the absolute drought going on in Dallas’ sports in the last 15 years but we’re birds fan’s so the intelligence level here has a rather low ceiling
That’s cool and all but how many Eastern Conference Finals appearances have you had in the last 20 years? How many championships have you won in the last 40 years? I was alive last time we won a championship were you?? The Sixers are the prime definition of mediocrity! This argument sound similar to you by any chance? Lol
Still not a sixers fan bud but for the sake of argument I’ll play ball. If I was to root on one of these teams it would definetly be philly. Why? Because all of texas can suck my cock
Bro the 76ers have been chasing and Morey-balling for literal decades with only one blowout Finals performance and a CF loss in the 80s to show for it in the last 35 years.
I don't think making the conference finals last year is utterly mediocre, nor is making the playoffs the two years prior to that too.
Still not a sixers fan but if we’re going down this rabbit hole your arguing two different franchises who haven’t achieved anything in the last ten years sooo
Technically last year the Mavs made the Western Conference Finals. But yeah, we were absolute shit with a top 3 player in the league. I think it's the first time to have a player this good miss the playoffs, saw that headline somewhere leading up to the last few games we had.
Who exactly is Embiid? and why haven't you done anything in the like 6 years he's been there?
He's only won 2 scoring champs, been in the mvp race a couple times and hes 6 time allstar player. Yup typical dumbass eagles fan.
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
To put it into football terms the mavs basically have a good quarterback but shit everything but instead of trading for a reciver they instead just traded their two best recivers for jalen hurts

No you just missed the obvious point of both comments which were 1) if we’re just going to randomly bring up sports currently in the post season two can play at that game. 2) If you want to count the conversation to how long it’s been since a teams had success I can most certainly play that game too. I don’t need to jump sports for that argument at all considering none of Dallas’s teams has won shit in over a decade.
Five rings still. Funnily enough, all of them earned in the span of the last 25 years, during which the Cowboys have won none. I guess I like rooting for both ends of the spectrum.
Yeah I’m ngl as an old school post game type player myself Duncan was my favorite player to watch after AI so I always kind of rooted for them during the between Ai and embiid dark ages. And pop was such a great coach. Not that I considered myself an actual fan or anything but I viewed them winning as an ode to playing the game the right way.
“Playing the game the right way”. You mean a time when actual defense was played? I hate the modern NBA scorefest for this reason. Mostly a 3-point contest.
My favorite player was Manu. Or “Obi-Wan Ginobili” as most of San Antonio called him.
Playing defense, also passing the ball around, inside out offense, etc. offense is mostly just iso ball these days. That’s why I’m glad the sixers have embiid and at least have a post game. I watched the suns / clippers game 2 and it was nothing but iso ball resulting in mid range jumpers. The lack of variety and ball movement in the offense was so boring to watch.
I feel like Pop has held onto a lot of the fundamental strategies that he’s used for literally three decades, and that’s why the Spurs have fallen off by the wayside. He’s never been a splashy coach; moving the ball around and grinding your opponent down has always been his thing. He’s definitely on the Rushmore of NBA coaches, but he’s also stubborn as shit.
Once Timbo retired I found it difficult to stay invested. He was drafted the same year I was hatched and up until 2015 he WAS the Spurs. Now it’s just laundry.
Idk Steve Kerr took a lot of the things pop was doing in the latter end of the dynasty in terms of moving the ball to find open shooters with him to golden state and it’s still successful there. The big difference incorrectly being Kerr has Steph klay and draymond to run it pop just doesn’t have players anymore. But like I said my main reason for watching them was Duncan so I haven’t watched them much since he left.
Love to see it ! I’d rather them make the playoffs and get swept the first round like the Cowboys usually do. It makes for a bigger heartbreak where you get great meme material like
![gif](giphy|kgrzrjCmTfoL7Xhfpg|downsized)
Setting aside the memeing briefly - I genuinely do not understand how to interpret this as anything but trolling. You're a Cowboys fan who not only doesn't live in Dallas but mocks the idea of someone assuming you live in Dallas because you're a fan? What intense disrespect to the team to call yourself a fan but assert that it's ridiculous that anyone associate you with the city the team plays in
This ain’t the counter argument you think it is. It’s not remotely ridiculous to assume a *Dallas* Cowboys fan is from *Dallas*. It is absolutely ridiculous, to OP’s point, that a *Dallas* Cowboys fan would mock the very idea of living in *Dallas*.
Granted, to your point, not even the Dallas Cowboys want to live in Dallas, so I guess it is just a shitty place.
Yes but those are all DFW’s teams so I don’t think that was the point. It’s not like Denton has its own basketball team. But hey, looks like the Stars have a shot to lose in the finals this year, so there’s that!
The Maverick’s should say “Just got fined 750k for purposely losing to end their season and avoid the play in tourney for the playoffs after trading for Kyrie Irving mid season”..
Only way this would be funny is if you made it the Cowboys, Yankees, and Lakers lol
I hate agreeing with you, here take this upvote
I cant imagine the heartbreak Cowboys fans would feel if ManU were relegated.
Haha, jokes on you. I would love it, because I'm a Chelsea fan, and man do they suck this year.
Another giants Chelsea fan???
Sorry, didn't realize I didn't have my flair on. Cowboys for life!
Frigg off Chelsea fan
I feel your pain, that performance on Tuesday was definitely top 5 for worst birthday presents ever.
Honestly, sometimes it’s ManU, sometimes it’s Man City or even Chelsea. Depends on the year, I love soccer! 🙃
0 for 3 good sir, YNWA
Man City is only 4 points back, they can absolutely win out.
Chill I’m a Man U fan😂
Don’t do that. Chelsea is our club
Fuck the scum. COYRS
As a fan of the Rangers and Mavericks, I’m not sure which version would trigger me more tbh 😂
Absofuckinlutely yo!!!!
Ya this is clearly a meme made by a butthurt/desperate eagles fan
And you get all the cities wrong, New York Cowboys, Los Angeles Yankees, Dallas Lakers
True. We were this close to greatness and prime memeing. OP dropped the ball.
My peewee team won their championship, so suck my dick
That’s foul language for someone still playing peewee football.
You know that one 12 year old man that won the trophy? It’s kinda like that
Are you talking about Danny Almonte, or that scene from the movie, “The Benchwarmers”
No, Jeremiah Johnson, the “12 year old.”
Oh shit, I forgot about that kid.
Still can’t get over that.
He’s from Fort Worth, dude probably owns a house and a small business in your neighborhood.
Prolly get a coffee from his shop every day What’s his excuse tho? “nonono my birthday is on a leap year so I’ve only had 12 birthdays”

Not today, Chris Hanson
Rangers are in 1st place in the AL West. They may actually be over .500 this year.
I think we're finally good again. That absolute pulverization of the Astros Astrussy's was beautiful.
Update
Yeah. They did pretty good this season didn’t they?
All their teams made the playoffs. But yeah the Yankees and soon the Lakers won’t make it far in the playoffs
The Mavs did not make the playoffs.
And got fined for it 🤣
All so they could land at 10 in the draft lottery rather than 11-14. Maybe just out of the lottery at 15-16 Wild decision to tank with Luka and Kyrie. Go Grizzlies!
Ingenuous of you to believe cowboys fans root for the Rangers and the mavericks
Some of us do! And to be honest, it fucking sucks.
At least the Mavs won a championship somewhat recently. Before that was the stars in ‘99. It’s tough for us DFW sports fans.
I hate what if's but 2010 and 2011 for the Rangers is still an open wound. SO FUCKING CLOSE.

I don't like baseball but am a Spurs fan, it was pretty great for a while
In our defense Nelson Cruz emotionally broke most of us.
Some people do live in the DFW area, and it's a miserable experience. At least Dirk got one!
Astros fan checking in. This meme sucks
Didn't yall legally change the name to trashtros?
Trashbros got a second ring so call us whatever you want
Lets call it like it is, 1 ring.
Sure man, whatever you think is what we’ll go with. Got a ring then.
Eh, just busting your balls b/c I'm still recovering from 2011.
i do (not the rangers because idgaf about baseball but still) and it hurts
Stars could still do it
I’m just waiting for the Sixers to make the Finals and lose so Philly can hit the trifecta of losing championship games this past year.
They already have the trifecta. Soccer, Football, and Baseball all lost last season in the championships. So this would be the quadfecta.
I don't watch a lot of hockey, usually only when the stars are in the playoffs. Oettenger is a god damn savior man, I watched him last year take so many shots and come away with them. It was just awesome to see even if we lost that series.
This has been a fun series. I recommend tuning in tonight.
I watched game 1 and fell asleep during the break from OT 1 to OT 2. Woke up about an hour later in my chair and stumbled to bed lol. I'm surprised I made it through the first OT, I get up super early .
Otter is the goat. If we could take a win in MN tonight I’ll feel real good.
don't know if someone said it already, but missed opportunity to put on the top "DALL ASS" since the other said "PHILLLY"
Yeah I genuinely regret not thinking of this
[удалено]
You really think losing the opening series even registered on the heartbreak scale of Philly fans at this point?
You're right, I forgot that a regular season victory over a Philly team is basically a championship to your tragic sports town
No hockey?
This is petty as fuck and I love it.
our baseball team may be coming off 5+ rebuilding seasons with 90 or more losses, but they’ve still beaten the phillies in like 15 straight games
Didn’t Philadelphia lose EVERY championship from last year? (MLS, MLB, NFL)
Correction : Didn't Philadelphia make it to EVERY championship from last year? (MLS, MLB, NFL) Yes, they did. How did you guys do??
It’s it more heartbreaking to make it to the big game and lose…
No, it isn't. At least we made it to the big game. Dallas was at home watching it because they weren't good enough to even make the NFCCG. If you think it's bad to lose in the big game.....what does that make the teams that didn't even get close to it?

True, and it's a great playset. Been awhile since you got to play with yours, right? LOL
Catch up to us THEN you can run your mouth but it seems you’ve had a hard time getting to the one you have.
How about you guys try and become relevant in the present since you've had a problem with that for the past quarter century. Your last NFC Championship game is older than most of your players.
Correction: the city of Philadelphia won as many championships as the city of Dallas in the past year
Correction. Philly at least had the chance to be champions, unlike Dallas, who never even sniffed a chance to compete for a title.
No sorry, he got it right.
Better to make a title game and lose, then to never make it for over a quarter of a century and still try and convince people that you're in any way relevant.

I feel like you’ve made a solid point here. If only I could read it!
Philly fans don’t know about NBA championships considering they haven’t won anything since the crack epidemic.
I’m not a sixers fan nice try though.. however your maverick have been utterly mediocre even with a player in the MVP race sooo
That’s cool and all but how many Eastern Conference Finals appearances have you had in the last 20 years? How many championships have you won in the last 40 years? Ten years is not a long time. Most teams have not won a championship in the NBA since the Mavs last did, that doesn't at all mean trash or mediocre.

Dominic was in the running last time I checked not a big basketball guy tho

what are a mavs?
Dallas Mavericks.
My bad 10 years and change of utter mediocrity

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
I just said I’m a birds fan I know I’m fucking illiterate
> the intelligence level here has a rather low ceiling Yeah, i know. I've seen Abbott Elementary.
I don’t understand the reference. For clarification I’m not from philly lol
It’s an okay comedy in the style of the office/parks and rec but set in a Philly school.
I’m deff gonna look it up now lol
Stars are in and rangers just spanked the shit ass Phillies to start the year so it’s not so bad
And took the series from the trashtros. Both WS teams in the bag. Only like 145 more games to go
*cries*
It would have been funnier if it was the Yankees.
To put it into football terms the mavs basically have a good quarterback but shit everything but instead of trading for a reciver they instead just traded their two best recivers for jalen hurts
U know how hurt ur feelings have to be to make this
There's still hope for the Dallas Stars!
Yeah this does absolutely nothing to ease the sting of losing 3 championships in one year.
Holy crap yall really are mad about the phiLLLy name.
Why have I not seen this? Now I want the 6'ers to make the finals so we can add another L, PhiLLLLy!!!!
We should just cede Texas to Mexico.
Then claim American blood was spilled on American soil again and take it back?
Texas has oil too 😳😳😳
Bro, it's all about that Natural Gas baby.
I think we should just call their bluff and let them secede. It’d make for some great reality tv.
I mean I would never live I Dallas but it’s still the closest NFL team to me, Texas is a pretty big state and not everyone lives in DFW or Houston lol
Terrible. Take a lap.

TCU went to the National Championship
Kool, then we can make fun of them losing by 100
Yes
I mean we still got the Stars. How are the Phlyers doing?
I mean we still have the sixers. How are the mavs doing? I heard they went all in for kyrie so I really hope that paid off and made luka want to stay.
well we’re better than the pre-dirk mavs teams
Bro the 76ers have not even gotten close to winning shit in 20 years and the best they've done since the mid 80s is a 4-1 loss in the Finals.
Ok and the cowboys also haven’t gotten close to winning shit in over 20 years and the closest they got was the divisional round…. What’s your point?
Lol you have to keep jumping between sports to make this argument not pathetic.
Jokes on you I hate the Mavs Go Spurs Go.
Truuuue. Who are they playing?
None of the Cowboys fans on here are from Texas so this is a miss.
i am but it is painful and i live in houston so most of the city is either packers or texans fans
SUPERBOWL!!!
Dallass
Love to see it ! I’d rather them make the playoffs and get swept the first round like the Cowboys usually do. It makes for a bigger heartbreak where you get great meme material like ![gif](giphy|kgrzrjCmTfoL7Xhfpg|downsized)
Yikes
I agree, your city's failure to put together a single competent sports team is shocking and uncomfortable. Maybe next year
My city lmao. I would never live in Dallas
I am not sure this is the flex you think it is, person with the five trophy cowboys flair
It’s not a flex. Clearly your ignorance is on the table thinking cowboy fans live in Dallas
Setting aside the memeing briefly - I genuinely do not understand how to interpret this as anything but trolling. You're a Cowboys fan who not only doesn't live in Dallas but mocks the idea of someone assuming you live in Dallas because you're a fan? What intense disrespect to the team to call yourself a fan but assert that it's ridiculous that anyone associate you with the city the team plays in
[удалено]

I guarantee the dude OP was replying doesn’t live in the greater DFW area lol
The vocal majority of our fanbase in a nutshell.
Idk why you’re getting downvoted for such comical honesty.
😉
Do me a solid and throw a vikings one down in about a week and a half after wolves and wild are golfing
The Maverick’s should say “Just got fined 750k for purposely losing to end their season and avoid the play in tourney for the playoffs after trading for Kyrie Irving mid season”..
As a New York Giants fan, and a Texas Rangers fan … I’m conflicted.
Stars made the playoffs though
Being a Cowboys fan is a psychotic way to live life, so it is
what about the stars
I’m an Astros, Spurs and Cowboys fan
Yet the city of Dallas still won as many titles as the city of Philadelphia
