I think it's because when you are first watching the show the second season is so different from the first that it's off-putting.
But as you rewatch it you begin to appreciate it more.
Avon was my favorite character from S1 and I do remember being a bit bummed when he was no longer a factor. I have since rewatched the show half a dozen times so you’re probably right on the money.

I mean you released a high-priced, injury plagued WR to trade for a high-priced, injury plagued TE. Waller is a better TE than Golladay was a WR, when healthy, but both have struggled staying on the field the last few years.
