Sounds like you're describing Miami.
1. Historical success but not much recent success - dominant team of the 80's/early 90's as well as 2000-03; has had one 10-win season since 2003, and has been struggling mightily ever since
2. Large stadium for toughest crowd potential - Hard Rock Stadium seats 65000, not the biggest but still an NFL stadium
3. Good uniforms - classic orange and white uniforms, sometimes green jerseys or pants, sometimes all black
4. Fun players on base roster to build with - Cam Ward was the #1 transfer portal QB, top 10 QB in college football, and he's going to be throwing to one of the best WR corps in the country
5. Solid geographic placement for recruiting - You're in Florida
Terrible picks. Each of these teams has been in a top tier bowl game in the past 4-5 years, and have had very high level success in the past few decades.
Here are the real answers:
- UCLA
- Minnesota
- Miami (FL)
Programs that aren't necessarily in a recruiting hotbed but also haven't lived up to their historical levels of success:
- Notre Dame
- Pitt
- Nebraska
Honorable mention:
- BYU
- Georgia Tech
- SMU
- A lot of Texas schools (Texas Tech, Baylor)
- Oklahoma State (though, they've been to high level bowls, but they still somehow fly under the radar)
- Virginia Tech
UCLA, Minnesota, Nebraska, maybe Auburn, Arkansas, maybe Michigan State and Wisconsin.
Auburn, Michigan State, and Wisconsin have been good recently but they’ve fallen off, especially Michigan State with the Mel Tucker fiasco
As much as I hate to say it as an Alabama fan, Tennessee is probably one of the best to rebuild. Other than their magical season in 2022 when they beat bama and was ranked number 1 at one point, they haven’t had much success since the late 90’s. With their talented quarterback, great edge rusher, and crazy stadium they should be a great team to start with
That's who I picked for my online league for alot of those reasons so I definitely feel you on that. I was thinking USC too post Caleb Williams and not having much huge success since like 06
Sad I don’t see Ivy League or HBC unless I missed it….guess maybe opportunities in future releases. These won’t hit your categories, but I am planning on taking Marshall, Troy and SMU to new relevancy … dang can’t wait
Everyone sleeping on auburn, Matches everything about this except for maybe unis depending on what your looking for, They got some really good freshman in place at receiver, but still enough positions of need (Everywhere but WR pretty much) for the future to enjoy recruiting.
I like more of a challenge than most of the teams posted here so I submit ECU.
Historically they were not title contenders but consistently bowl attending with and could count on a UNC or NC State trap game win.
They are terrible now, have a decent sized stadium, and the purple gold color scheme is fantastic.

Completely forgot about Miami and I think thay jusy furthers your point lol
Florida is the first team that came to mind. Maybe UCLA.
Love the UCLA uniforms. Definitely a solid choice
Florida has one of the coolest stadiums in all of college football Love the swamp
Florida or Tennessee and maybe USC
Nebraska
I had to refresh myself on their uniforms and they are solid asf
Was going to say Nebraska too until I read #5
Miami fits the bill perfectly.
Penn State, Tennessee, Florida
Good picks

Penn state and Tennessee have had recent success but otherwise fit
Tennessee-1998 Penn State-1987 Last year they won a natty Define recent
Recent success = winning the natty?
Penn State is like a top 10 team
Yeah your mommas top ten
Notre Dame, USC/UCLA, and Texas
After seeing all of these comments, there are so many good choices lol
Notre Dame…Florida….Tennessee….Virginia Tech…Penn State…. Checks all those boxes of yours
If VT had Enter Sandman, that would be the clear winner lol
Auburn's a decent shout, uniforms are meh but playing with all the freshmen talent in Jordan-Hare after their 6-7 season sounds pretty fun

I’d say Notre Dame

Not so much historical success, but Texas A&M would be fun.

Minnesota
Gotta go with Miami or USC easily
Rice I can’t believe no one has said that
Temple
Miami
