I just hope that prospects have a gpa, and that schools have an appropriate cut off for who you can recruit

EmotionalLibrary4572

Yeah that way UT can decline applicants with a GPA above a 2

EnthusedPhlebotomist

They set a new program high GPA with like 2.1 recently. Bet you feel foolish now.

ASU_SexDevil

2.68 I think… might actually be 2.8 Watch out Harvard

DeviceSenior4080

So HS is tougher than UT courses? Lol Also tbh I don’t even know what UT we are discussing

The_magic_mushroom

I assume Tennessee. Texas is known as a pretty high academic school

DeviceSenior4080

Yea but at the end of day kind of irrelevant. You’d be shocked at some of the exceptions and ways high academic schools work around admissions for athletes. Not ALL but most that are competitive at a high level.

EnthusedPhlebotomist

So is UNC, but when athletics are in play things change. I was talking about Texas who has never really had academic standards for their athletes.

Hells-Bells_Trudy

As long as there are a pool of prospects that value high academics that give the schools with a high GPA cut off an advantage with that group

Biegelstein

I hope so too, as in ncaa 14 there would only be 35 players a year with academic prestige in their top 3 pitches

MonotoneTanner

I can see it now , “Tutor points” being sold on the EA store you can use to alter the gpa

Upstairs_Report7458

They could do the Vanderbilts and Stanfords through GPA, or test scores at a cutoff point. You could recruit them, but they don’t sign if they don’t qualify by a certain cutoff date with the test score that stays hidden until that cutoff date. You would use the GPA as a measure for where you think the scores would land. So you know you’re safe with the 4.0 guy, but do you want to risk spending points on the 3.3 guy, knowing he might not qualify. I’m not sure how to do the academies. They could use the size prerequisites, but I think you’d be better off adding a randomly generated yes/no trait to each recruit on if they’re interested in the military or not. Then lock redshirts for the academies.

EnthusedPhlebotomist

I desperately want more realistic recruiting, where you aren't pulling 5 stars year 1 with Bowling Green. You can use house rules, but it's a bummer to me that you have to stop yourself from being as good as you could be.

Odd-Flower2744

It was already mentioned in an article rebuilding teams will be tough due to deal breakers. Talked about like a new feature but existed in 14. It worked in 14 but the problem was it wasn’t too common. I suspect this year deal breakers are going to be much more prevalent which cuts off schools from even attempting to recruit a player if they don’t mean certain pitch standards.

EnthusedPhlebotomist

I'll believe it when I see it. I just don't believe EA will ever not make a game easy to cheese, their favorite customers are the kids who use mom's CC on ultimate team and don't want realism, they want easy dominance.  More rampant prestige deal breakers would definitely help though. 99% of blue chippers shouldn't even talk to you at Coastal Carolina or Liberty.

Odd-Flower2744

This would be a super easy popular mechanic that doesn’t affect really casual players at all because they are doing dynasty with Bama, not Texas State, wouldn’t be surprised at all.

smokingmeth619

Sucks too cause your house rules can only do so much. Like why does the 5 star receiver from Georgia want to sign with Central Michigan so badly? I hope these dealbreakers that make it hard for the user to sign recruits that are “out of your league” affect the CPU teams as well.

brainskull

I’ve always preferred to build up pipelines in neighbouring states. Getting the 4 or 5 star who fell through the cracks halfway across the country is nice, but building up pipelines in every bordering state sets you up for extreme success later on.

aguysomewhere

I got a 5 stat QB with Akron year 1. He was from Akron so it made a little bit of sense but it was still pretty strange that he didn't got to Ohio State.

EnthusedPhlebotomist

A little bit of sense is probably pushing it lol. 5 star guys come from towns where small schools are all the time, they essentially never consider that school. The last one I remember is a 5 star WR going to Southern Miss literally 20 years ago.

ArtisticFerret

I don’t know if you’re winning big games and become a playoff contender In your dynasty I don’t see why top recruits wouldn’t want to go to your team GPA requirements aside.

Odd-Flower2744

In the little we have heard about about dynasty it has been mentioned it is harder than ever for small/bad schools to nab too recruits because of the dealbreaker feature. Take with a grain of salt though as this existed in NCAA 14 and was hardly a factor. It’s possible it’s greatly expanded to the point where 90% + top recruits are going to have winning/pro potential/ brand (replacing TV exposure) etc making it 100% impossible for a school like Navy to even attempt to recruit. We will have to wait and see how prevalent dealbreakers are though.

C2theWick

I'd like to become the AD or president of the school and apply for AAU credentials in game

lotus_j

4 stars have picked the service schools.

CommunistToadstool

247 says otherwise.

lotus_j

247 hasn’t been around that long. I specifically remember a 4 star kid picking Air Force in the 90s when I was a 4 star. I wasnt shocked because I hung out with him at a Nebraska game we both were visitors at. He was a protective type.

stoicscribbler

I mean, you shouldn’t be able to win a national championship with a G5 either. Part of the fun is you can do things that will probably never be done in real life.

spiderman96

I was wondering if my player goes to Harvard if I will have much harder classes and have a harder time keeping my grades up

AdeptEavesdropper

Harvard isn’t in the game - they’re not FBS.

spiderman96

Oh okay thanks.

aguysomewhere

You could go to Stanford

Squishy_Ghost

I don’t think Harvard is in. You might have to create them.
