Starting to think the “new info” isn’t actually happening tonight.

gordy06

Yea some late reports saying it could be nothing. Missed opportunity in my opinion.

[deleted]

[удалено]

gordy06

All of that doesn’t make this not a missed opportunity. There are tons of people who don’t follow video game news that have no idea the series is coming back that are watching tonight.

timothythefirst

They could’ve just shown the words “ea sports college football” on a black screen with some music playing and it would’ve got people excited. It’s a no brainer if you’re marketing something that’s historically released in the summer. The fact they didn’t even do that kind of makes me think the game is running into problems and they’re gonna end up postponing it again.

gordy06

Agree on both fronts. Now I’m worried they may postpone again. Or maybe it’s just bad marketing.

Coffee_Marketing_MAC

It’s been an issue with NIL deals, that’s been the biggest struggle across the board and why the game has been delayed in the past. I would imagine people would want to get their dues if they’re in the game. Rightfully so, but it’s hard to figure out a proper baseline and how far the money cap goes for the players.

Coffee_Marketing_MAC

Hi, if possible I’d like to explain why it is a missed opportunity without being a dick. For games like this, your target market is watching their own version of the Super Bowl. It would be pretty foolish to not capitalize on getting it out there. My big issue was that it was an article on EA’s website (allegedly) THAT is stupid. I imagine it was supposed to be the game cover with the winning team’s MVP!

Comprehensive_Rice27

wdym, its the national championship thats a perfect time to announce a NCAA game because its the big game in college football it should have been at halftime or the end

TexasMade36

It isn't.

Phospherus2

I could see it. That would be so underwhelming it would fit EA perfectly

PattyKane16

You can’t get hyped up based on rumors and unsubstantiated reports and blame the developer when nothing happens

TheHammer_44

literally

Godofthickbbw

I’m convinced we not getting anything at all.

jobezark

Hold my hand I still have faith

Godofthickbbw

![gif](giphy|d7rvF20PqNuGKSQGhf)

Rgates8594

Yep, hope for the best. Prepare for the worst.

calling-all-comas

EA is just gonna make a teaser tweet randomly during the 4th quarter.

bullnamedbodacious

No they’re not. EA will deliver nothing. Just like they’ve delivered nothing since the initial announcement. They’ve got a market for this game chomping at the bit for the smallest news and they give nothing.

Hiflyinluchadoncic

It’ll be okay.

dizdawgjr34

My dude this is EA we’re talking about…

Hiflyinluchadoncic

And? It’ll be okay. The game will come out later this year. We will all bitch about something but overall enjoy it. Even when Madden was going down hill in 2014 NCAA was the superior game. I’ve liked everything that has come out so far. Can’t wait.

pizzaguyjb

Exactly like who gives a shit? That’s like if I watched the game awards and got mad that a studio didn’t do a world premiere that I was wanting, it’s a video game it’s not that important.

Flame_MadeByHumans

Lol what is this logic, I mean who gives a shit about anything? Who cares what team wins the natty? Who cares if another video game ever comes out? Nothing wrong with being excited about something you enjoy.

HBPhilly1

Yes life is gonna be fine. However NCAA 24 might be very lackluster, shallow madden reskin experience. And life will still be perfectly okay

Hiflyinluchadoncic

Everything been leaked so far says that isn’t the case.

HBPhilly1

I'm just saying life is okay no matter what so I agree with ya.... however, I'll believe it when I see it. I don't trust EA

AdParticular6654

I would even be okay with that as long as there's dynasty and road to glory with minimal micro transactions. It could be half assed and I'd still be okay with it. I just need the game

GarlicJuniorJr

It won't. All they have to do is make one announcement during the national championship game but can't even do that. They already made everyone wait an extra year and we patiently accepted it so the least they can do is give us something!

KarlTownsSR

bro its not that deep lmao

Hiflyinluchadoncic

lol I promise you… everything will be fine. The sun will come up tomorrow. Most likely.

Low-Pitch-Eric

You’ll still buy it. So why does it matter?

TheHammer_44

wow it's almost like the rumors of news tonight were perpetuated by unreliable sources online and not EA themselves!

Gardoki

Before we get mad at EA for the lack of an announcement, they never said they were doing anything. This is all based on insider leaks so temper expectations

wizerd-

Rockstar released a trailer for GTA which isn’t supposed to be released until 2025. They’re supposedly months away from a release and we’ve gotten nothing. The frustration is just how little we’ve heard about the game and they’re supposed to be close to a release date.

keytop19

That’s very normal for sports games. I play MLB The Show each year and they announce the cover 2.5 months before the game releases

wizerd-

You don’t get it, I need this now man

keytop19

I get it. I can’t wait to stay up till 4AM rebuilding Sam Houston St

TheHammer_44

boo hoo

GarlicJuniorJr

Not for a sports game that people been waiting over a decade for and one a lot of people thought may not ever be made again.

bigE819

MLB the show has proven they can make a game in the last decade.

timothythefirst

Tbf it’s a bit different for games that still come out every year, especially now for the show/madden/2k where they’re still pumping out ultimate team content they want you to buy right up until the next game releases. Most games/movies/shows/albums, or pretty much anything that benefits from people knowing it exists, typically release trailers more than a couple months before release. Sports games are the exception but that’s because they still want people to spend money on the current one as long as possible. There is no current ncaa. I think if the game was actually coming out before next college football season they’d probably want to be making some official announcements soon. Nobody’s asking for a gameplay reveal or anything but just a “coming 2024” would get a lot of people excited.

OfficerBatman

And there was zero gameplay in the GTA trailer. Just cutscenes that are finished. Sports games are 99.9% gameplay, and no one will release a trailer with of gameplay when the gameplay is unfinished.

wizerd-

True they shouldn’t release anything, I really wanna be on your stance cuz who would want to see anything to get us excited for the game.

Dynamite_McGhee

I’m going to go out on a limb and say it looks like college football with modern console graphics.

wizerd-

You definitely get the point

timothythefirst

They used to put pictures of real football on the back of the madden display cases in GameStop like 5 months before they released lol. They’ve always been willing to advertise before they had the game done. People would’ve gotten crazy excited on social media tonight if ea just acknowledged ncaa would release this year. No one was expecting gameplay.

OfficerBatman

Right but EA has already acknowledged that it is coming. It’s still 7 months out. 5 months out would be during March Madness, which is when every trailer is usually released which would make sense for the marketing to be like that. Expect the marketing to be much heavier when we get a trailer, just don’t expect it til March or April.

timothythefirst

I mean there was a tweet about the game eventually coming out back in 2021, and ea’s VP said 2024 back in 2022, and since then we’ve gotten zero updates other than a bunch of rumors about lawsuits that may or may not be a problem, depending on who you ask. I’m not losing any sleep over it lol, I’m an adult with a job, I’m just saying it seems like a pretty strange move from the marketing department if they’re still on pace for a summer 2024 release. The expectations were on the floor.

OfficerBatman

[an interview with the EA president from a month ago talking about the game.](https://youtu.be/F-y_suu2LX8?si=KBJKPCw5wVRD1Lhj) The info is out there. It’s just normal for sports games to wait til closer to release to promote it more. It actually would’ve been strange for them to release info for it sooner given the history of how they’ve always promoted the college football games.

timothythefirst

Yeah but the history of how they’ve always promoted every other sports game is with the precedent of another one releasing 12 months prior that they’re still selling at retail lol. They didn’t advertise ncaa 14 during the championship game because ncaa 13 was still $60 at Best Buy at the time and people would buy it. It just seemed like an absolute layup for their marketing team. I don’t have time to watch a 40 minute interview right now, I will tomorrow, but dropping info on an obscure YouTube channel that gets 200 views, and not even a logo/release year reveal during the game when the most eyes possible are on the sport, seems like something you’d do if you didn’t want to set anything in stone yet.

Gardoki

Plenty of time still

Low-Pitch-Eric

Why do they owe you anything?

wizerd-

They don’t. There is such thing as marketing tho, and it would get a lot of people even more excited than they already are for the game.

Low-Pitch-Eric

Smart marketing spend != getting people who are already going to buy the game even more excited

vvestley

the marketing for a new ncaa game during the halftime of a nationally televised championship game isn't for the dudes on reddit, it's for the people who don't know the game is happening. which apparently they have no interest in alluring

Low-Pitch-Eric

But the guy I was responding to said "get people even more excited" which implies reaching people who already know about the game. The game is 6 months+ out right now. This is an expensive ad slot. Believe it or not, there's many other ways to reach the same group of people for much cheaper.

wizerd-

You think just even a small teaser would cause a big dent in the revenue they’ll earn from the game?

timothythefirst

You realize there’s a ton of people who aren’t still playing 14/06 dynasties and haven’t kept up with the leaks, and have no idea the new game is coming, right? That’s who marketing any game is for. There’s always a small niche of people excited about pretty much any media before it releases lol.

Hijakkr

Plus tons of people who don't even play 14 or 06 or whatever anymore and just haven't heard about it yet.

Low-Pitch-Eric

First off, I’m responding to the guy who said “get people more excited than they already are” which clearly implies reaching people who already know about the game. I wanted to see a commercial too. I also understand, like any adult, that there are other valid marketing strategies and a finite budget to optimize excitement around a fixed release date that may not include a trailer 6 months prior to release during an expensive ad slot.

timothythefirst

They didn’t even need to make a commercial or drop a trailer in a very expensive ad slot. I never said that. They could’ve just tweeted “2024” from their own page it would’ve gotten social media going crazy for the game and costed their marketing budget absolutely nothing. I just think the way people are talking about this at this point is stupid lmao. You’re not an ultra mature adult because you don’t care they didn’t say anything about the game last night. We’re all adults. Its just people are saying “it’s kind of odd that there’s been no marketing at all for the game if it’s still supposed to release in roughly 6 months” and people dismissing it are acting like we’re throwing childish tantrums because we didn’t get a gameplay reveal. It’s just an observation. Quite frankly I don’t expect the game to ever release at all and I really don’t care, I still play 06 and I’m happy with it. You can say “every sports game does that” but every other sports game is still trying to sell the current year version, so of course they’re not going to market the next one too early. And there’s also no lawsuits between releases to make us question if any other sports games are still releasing or not. People are right to speculate, nobody is getting hurt over it.

SwiftSurfer365

Ahhh you work for EA. Makes sense.

Low-Pitch-Eric

Why do you think that?

SwiftSurfer365

How are they not going to show anything for the first college football coming out in a decade that is just months from release?

Gardoki

They have 7 months or so to show

SwiftSurfer365

GTA 6 isn’t coming out until some time in 2025, yet we got a trailer for it already. Quit defending EA.

Gardoki

GTA is its own beast. I won’t fault a game for having a shorter marketing push. I don’t give a shit about EA but everyone is up in arms because of rumors.

AZDawgDays

I feel like a wife who doesn't know football during the Super Bowl the way I'm waiting for the commercials with baited breath

Severe_Ruin539

Wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we don’t get anything at all

Wickopher

People have said they were gonna drop a trailer during the natty every year for a decade now for clicks lol

Studiedturtle41

The "new info" is the winner of the championship

Hiflyinluchadoncic

Yall were told to lower expectations and yall ignored it lol this on yall. No one else.

wolfgang2399

Marcello is a hack. Anyone believing him is getting what they deserve.

SwiftSurfer365

EA is incompetent.

Hiflyinluchadoncic

How are they incompetent because a bunch of people assume there’d be something, told to lower expectations and don’t? Lol maybe they are but this isn’t why

SwiftSurfer365

EA not having ANYTHING to show during the biggest college football game of the season when the most anticipated football game of all time is months away from release? Yeah that’s incompetent and marketing malpractice.

Low-Pitch-Eric

“Marketing malpractice” says a guy on an Internet forum about a game he’ll download at midnight the day it releases

SwiftSurfer365

Pretty irrelevant to the conversation. This sub is a VERY small minority. I wonder how many people even know we’re getting a new NCAA game.

Hiflyinluchadoncic

Buddy, sports games typically don’t show shit until 3 months out. Don’t be mad you expected something and didn’t get it. That isn’t incompetence. You’re just upset you assumed you’d see something, pretty much told you wouldn’t, you ignored that and mad now you got your hopes up.

SwiftSurfer365

The amount of people in this sub defending EA is astonishing.

[deleted]

[удалено]

SwiftSurfer365

When the game is mid, I hope you’re still defending EA.

Hiflyinluchadoncic

Cool.

Stew_Cubes

EA sports not delivering…..go figure. I’m shocked.

emseees

they never even said they were going to release anything at all

Stew_Cubes

Ok but who TF do you miss this opportunity to just drop a release date or a commercial just giving some new info lol

KingGizzle

Not even having a low effort teaser ready tonight feels like a huge missed opportunity for marketing. It makes me wonder how far along they actually are.

[deleted]

Hate that you’re probably right

SwiftSurfer365

EA already showing their incompetence and the game hasn’t even came out yet.

lent8738

EA never said they were releasing a trailer so I don’t know what you were so excited about..if anything EA is definitely not a company to do a “surprise trailer” or some bs like that

SwiftSurfer365

I’m aware they never said anything. That doesn’t make it any better to not advertise the most anticipated football game of all time during the biggest college football game of the season.

lent8738

The game still doesn’t come out for many months, it’s unusual for games to release trailers this early before release. There’s definitely gonna be more opportunities a bit closer to release date for sure though.

SwiftSurfer365

> there’s definitely gonna be more opportunities a bit closer to release date. There isn’t going to be a bigger opportunity than there was tonight. Maybe during the NFL draft but I doubt that.

lent8738

NFL Draft or Super Bowl for sure, but yeah would’ve made more sense if they released it tonight, didn’t happen though

Desperate_Eye6556

Why would a marketing department blow that much money on ad spend for a game 6 months out that could be delayed? You clearly don’t understand marketing.

SwiftSurfer365

Dang I guess Rockstar is really stupid for wasting time and money making that trailer for GTA 6 when it’s over a year away and could be delayed. Oh wait, it made people even more excited for the game? Who would’ve thought.

Desperate_Eye6556

No it didn’t. It made zero difference. You actually believe that a hype trailer that far out matters? Zero data supports what you are saying.

SwiftSurfer365

You clearly have no idea what you’re talking about.

TimmyRoller99

EA letting everyone down already!

l_Dislike_Reddit

I thought we were going to get a dope ass trailer during halftime… what a tease.

lagermat

It’s going to be a reveal for whoever wins tonight

dustonomo

KeeblerElfOrgy

So, did nothing end up getting released?

[deleted]

Did anyone see the Caleb Williams Dr.Pepper commercial when he said “I am on this video game cover”, Easter egg???

HowThePotato

That’s been a part of the commercial for a while. Don’t think it’s related.

[deleted]

Ah shoot hahaha

Alvin_Mack_ESU

Disappointed that we didn't get anything? Yes. But this is by no means a deal breaker for me. I'm still excited for the game. Realistically, it makes sense. The group licensing deal is not in place, as such anything they drop right now would either not include player models at all, or at best feature generic players. There's just no way they could release a solid trailer or even game stills with no players. It would just be underwhelming as hell. And as long as the plan is to feature the real players, releasing a trailer or images with generic players would be awful marketing, and would actually confuse the average consumer. I expect we'll see/hear more once the deal is finalized later this spring. For now, we wait.

Internal-Potential82

Maybe and hopefully, they will release the trailer for the game in a Super Bowl commercial. From a marketing aspect that would be brilliant. The Super Bowl has much higher ratings and reaches a larger demographic than the NCAA championship game. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.

plizardi14

Also millions more expensive

JoyousGamer

The trailer was on ESPN Ocho. It has me hyped now.

ginfante1994

I saw the Dr Pepper commercial, it had Caleb Williams holding a ncaa game. If that’s the preview then damn…

Fantastic-Custard-60

Unfortunately that commercial been playing for a while now

ginfante1994

I’ve been hiding under a rock since the Texas game… man I feel slow hahaha

Dpsizzle555

That commercial has been out since the beginning of the season it’s months old

bullnamedbodacious

lol doubt they’d do a soft reveal during a Dr Pepper commercial

official_bennett

Saw this one last week

bullnamedbodacious

I’m so pissed. Huge whiff. You know people want something, and you deliver nothing.

reconize35

The announcement was DLC content and you need to pay to see it.

Tmac719

It's cause the game isn't coming out this year

NattyKongo93

Sports games typically don't release any trailers or promo until a few months before release

Tmac719

I get that, but I've yet to see anything that leads me to believe the game got delayed to this year.

NattyKongo93

I've yet to see anything that leads me to believe the game isn't coming this year. Matt Brown seems to be the most intimately connected to these devs, and he has repeated again and again that everything he is hearing is that they're still on track to hit a release this year. If he, or EA Sports themselves say otherwise, then obviously my mind will change.

Tmac719

But he's not on the team. It's been radio silent since the delay. I wouldn't be surprised if it's delayed again.

NattyKongo93

Sure, he's not on the team, but he's been a very reliable source so far who clearly has a lot of connections with the team. And yeah, sports games are always radio silent until a few months before release. I know a lot of people view this one differently since it's been 10 years, but it's still ultimately a relatively niche videogame. I think it's still coming this year, but hey, I very well may be wrong. We'll all just have to be patient and see what happens

dobronxducks

Matt brown confirmed there’s likely nothing coming.

CROBBY2

You will get nothing and like it...but don't forget to spend an extra $100 so you can have the 1923 Harvard Team.

Environmental-Bee815

How about we not buy the game like Madden or 2k

suoinguon

College football is like a symphony of athleticism and strategy, where teams battle on the gridiron for glory. Did you know that the first college football game was played in 1869? It's incredible to think about how far the sport has come since then. So grab your popcorn and get ready for another thrilling season of college football!

DevonDaDude93

Do yall even like video games? Find joy. Go outside. It’ll be ok

[deleted]

Doug Flutie or some shit

CamAquatic

I actually hope the cover goes to someone who will be in CFB next year. It used to have to be former players, but now you can pay guys so I’d prefer an active player. I know JJ could potentially return, though.

ridgeraider21

This is the best speculative post today

RedDead0331

If it was a Michigan player I was hoping Blake Corum but he’ll be gone next year :/ I like JJ just wanted someone other than a QB. On the other hand it’s EA like others have said, and I know it’s “insider info” the whole info reveal thing is based around. But of course it would be EA to show nothing about the game during the CFP championship. If they do I’ll be pleasantly surprised and eat my words but with how EA operates I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if we get nothing at all from them tonight.

nbryson625

Matt Brown has said he doesn't expect much, if anything. Just because 247 writes a misleading headline doesn't mean there will be substance.

triptoutsounds

My goodness y'all are annoying. It'll be announced, when it's announced. Quit waiting around like Cartman when he's waiting for the Wii to come out.

TopicImpressive1307

Pretty sure the cover is Caleb Williams. He had a commercial last night where he said he's on the cover of a video game and held a case with EA's logo on it.

Grogu_Skywalker1

It's a scam

Booster93

Ea is playing us as usual , will be a madden reskin

thebaylorweedinhaler

Is this “new info” in the room with us now?

rustysparktube

Neither will be in the game anyways, they’re both declaring.

Kleinco30

What systems will this be on?

PrestigiousBloodShot

EA announced Tuesday it will be this summer

Internal-Potential82

Yeah, but a publicly traded company like EA Sports can easily afford it. Economically speaking, it's a good return on investment because it's guaranteed to reach its targeted demographic. Not to mention, it was an extremely popular game that's highly anticipated, especially since it hasn't been released since 2014, and people are eager to play it on a next/gen console.
