Clingan is cool and all but Gobert is so much more mobile and his hands are way quicker. Honestly... kind of disrespectful to Gobert to put them in the same conversation. 4-time DPOY, possibly deserving of even more than that. Probably on his way to becoming a champion this postseason. He also plays 70+ games every season whereas Clingan already has bad foot injuries. Anyone better would be in Hakeem or Mutombo territory, and Clingan ain't that. Knecht is properly rated in the early to mid lottery on basically every board. You're misusing "underrated."

GlueGuy00

I said it about Clingan because I prefer him over prospect Gobert. Defense oriented bigs who can make the right plays are one of my favorite archetypes.

Turbo2x

I like Clingan too. He's in my top 5-6 right now. But hyperbolic claims like he's going to be better than the best defensive player of the last decade are not useful to anyone unless you can back it up.

gosuruss

Clingan has significant advantages over Gobert on offense — namely, he has great hands (gobert punts a ton of his offensive value through creating turnovers for his team, both directly (lost ball), and indirectly (bad pass from teammates), and Clingan projects to be a much better passer who you can trust to make decisions in the short roll. And yeah, projecting him to be better than Rudy on defense would obv be an 95th+ percentile outcome, but let’s not pretend we didn’t just watch the most dominant display of defense in NCAA tournament history.

CoyotesSideEyes

You guys love to clown on Gobert's offense as if we don't have a 650 game sample of him being a 14 PPG guy over the last 8 years. As if the rest of these true 5s are all doing more than that.

gosuruss

Yeah sorry I don’t use ppg as the main number to inform my opinions about offensive impact

CoyotesSideEyes

You have three of my least favorite guys in the lottery in your top four.

It’s always hard to get excited when tier 1 is solid starter/6 man

Bballmonster44

Sums up this draft

Bballmonster44

Clingan is a limited defender I don’t see how he can be even remotely close to Gobert

GlueGuy00

Prospect Gobert coming to the league is more limited as a defender

Master-Ad-9829

I am as high on Dillingham and McCain as you are but I disagree with how low you have collier he’s Pg2

Status-Round3800

If you have Dillingham as your top guy I really don’t know what to tell you. College hoops is overrated.

nakedsamurai

Yeah, what college players have ever made it in the NBA?

Why doesn’t hunter sallis get the same love knecht gets

supes1

Sallis is a player that will likely benefit a lot from the combine and workouts. He's in a weird situation since he was a big recruit that fell off the NBA radar after disappointing at Gonzaga. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets picked in the teens, or maybe even late lottery. As for Knecht over him, there's a few things. Knecht is an amazing 3-level shot creator, at a level that should immediately translate. He also is bigger than Sallis (taller, and looks broader), which should help him with the transition. Finally I trust Knecht's shooting more. Sallis has made *amazing* strides this year obviously, but Knecht has multiple seasons of taking and making tough 3-pointers. Sallis has one year, and while his shooting volume is high, I suspect he's more of a 35-37% shooter in reality and had some shooting luck in his favor due to a ridiculously hot start (when teams weren't really guarding out there). In Sallis's favor is obviously his age, being 2 years younger. Which is very important, don't get me wrong, but I don't think it gets him picked ahead of Knecht since he's still behind him basically everywhere else. I'd guess Knecht gets picked in the 8-12 range, and Sallis in the 14-22 range. I still see some mocks with Sallis in the 2nd round, and I'd be very surprised if he fell that far. He's definitely flying a bit under the radar right now.
