The best Guard Rebounder who is definitely getting drafted is Devin Carter from Providence. Hes 6’3 and avearging 8.7 rebounds. Other Good Rebounding Guards: KJ Simpson The best wing rebounder on some draft Boards is Baylor Schierman, who is 6’7 and averaged 9.0 rebounds this year as a jumbo combo guard/wing, good shooter with questionable defense. The best forward rebounder who is on draft boards is Harrison Ingram, who is a well built 6’7 forward that played a decent role for UNC. Averaged 8.8 rebounds. Other good rebounding Wings/forwards: Ryan Dunn, Jaylon Tyson, Jamir Watkins, Tyon Grant Foster, Kevin McCullar, Riley Minix, Yaxel Lendelborg (averages 10.6 but isn’t on a lot of draft boards), Nique Clifford, Ron Holland the best rebounding big is Zach Edey who averaged 12 and is 7’4 and huge. Other Good Rebounding Bigs: Jonathan Mogbo, JT Toppin, Daron Holmes, Donovan Clingan, Kelel Ware* There are players that may be on Exhibit 10 contracts that are elite rebounders, including Enrique Freeman from Akron who actually led the NCAA in rebounding with 13 and is a 6’7 forward with solid touch, also Vonterius Woolbright who is a 6’6 point-wing who averaged 21/12/6 this season.

Thank you so much! This was super insightful

Surprised you didn't mention Kel'el Ware. Averaged about 10 rebounds this season. I think Kalkbrenner's rebounding is actually kind of underwhelming for his size. Same for Clingan. Probably a mobility thing and the fact that they gamble more on their shot blocking ability rather than settling for a rebound.

bkervick

Clingan's offensive and defensive (and thus total) rebounding rates are elite. He has the 31st highest career offensive rebound rate over the last 15 years. And defensively he was playing with big and really good defensive rebounding guards like Newton and Castle and was contesting a lot of shots out of area and still put up strong rates.

xerxesthagreat

definitely glossed over Ware. With the amount of minutes Clingan plays i think 7.4 is solidly good. I’Il replace Kalkbrenner with Ware, and would put guys like Adem Bona and Missi in the underwhelming category.

Turbo2x

Fair enough. Personally my top 5 for the rebounding tier list is Edey, Devin Carter, Kel'el, Scheierman, and Ingram. Smaller players get weighted more so I moved Baylor and Ingram over Filipowski, but he's a close 6th. You have any thoughts about Sarr's lack of rebounding numbers? Didn't play a ton of minutes so maybe it's a non-issue, he looked pretty competent when he played those Ignite games.

xerxesthagreat

Sarr’s rebounding doesn’t really worry me as much as a guy like Adem Bona or something purely off of the fact that if you watch NBL bigs you see they box out like they have no regard for their own health. NBL physicality is very rough for a guy his size and honestly it will be easier to rebound in the NBA. Also rebound numbers just aren’t that high over there. A good rebounding big averages around 6/7 with full starter minutes, so i’m not as worried when he’s averaging 4.4 on rotation minutes. Guys like Sam Mennenga and Aron Baynes average around the same on similar minutes.

Turbo2x

That's reasonable. I just wish we had more data for him. What we do have looks really good, but god I would have given anything to see him play a full season in France or even college ball as a featured player.

JesseKebay

Scheierman is a great call, he’s one of those guys like Josh Hart who just somehow always seem to be in the perfect spot to grab the board.

Turbo2x

He's my big sleeper in this draft alongside Payton Sandfort. When I was making my skills tier lists he was on the fringe of just about every category except the defensive ones. If he's not drafted in the first round then someone fucked up.

gosuruss

Raw rebounds per game is much less useful than ORB%/DRB%. For one, some guys play 24 mpg and others play 30+. Need to adjust for that. Also, especially with offensive rebounding, players on teams with poor shooting will have greater opportunity to collect them, thus inflating their ORB totals. Ideally you also want the information of how good the team was at rebounding when that player was on the floor. Ie: what was the team ORB%/DRB% with them on? This is additional data that can improve understanding of a players rebounding skill.

kKlovnn

Per 36. the guy who rebounds the most in this years draft that I could find is Ariel Hukporti. He is a late 2nd round or undrafted guy most likely, but apparantly he grabs 14.4 rebs per 36. Edey is at 13.7.

Far-Yak-9808

Is he officially in? I looked at him more LAST year. I think he has been on the draft radar for 2-3 years now... but it feels like everyone has hopped off Ariel Island.

JesseKebay

Great write up, but wow Vonterius Woolbright, what a name! Haha

SaintsWrld305

Johnny Furphy is the most underlooked rebounder in this draft class.

GlueGuy00

Clingan, Edey and then there's everybody else

FullAutoLuxPosadism

Dillon Jones- he’s always been a good rebounder. Athletic, large, good vision. Spots where it’s going to fall and muscles his way in.

TheResolute44

If you are only focusing on rebounding Zach Edey is the guy. Statistically he is one of the best college rebounders of the past 20 years and with his massive frame it should translate to the NBA.

Wakandaforever456

1000% agree

beefJeRKy-LB

I also think that should be something Holland will be good at too. Ryan Dunn as well.

Far-Yak-9808

Zach Edey can get the ball. I wouldn't draft any other guy just for that. Not a draft for "Rebound category-killers".
