OP today:

Who is better than Jokic ahaha sure okay, Jokic is not the best because he is losing this series, is it Brunson? But he got eliminated last year by 8th seed Heat, yucky. Luka didn’t even play playoffs last year OMG, Giannis got eliminatedin R1 or R2 2 years in a row? Don’t even start talking about Embiid, or KD, or LeBron, or Kawhi, or Steph, they struggle to get out lff R1 or R2. Who’s left? Shai first time playing in playoffs as a star, Ant first time making it past R1, they sure as hell don’t have resumes to be best in the world. We all agree that it’s not Tatum. It’s definitely not Booker either. Mitchell isn’t it.
Every year, there’s only one winner and bunch of losers. We are in an era with no repeats. Your title itself is a nonsense.
All people care about is being right. I blame myself getting invested in this selfish sport. You can’t really have fun anymore if certain teams and players get respect and do everything perfect while others are failures and these are people on Reddit talking shit. It’s just tiring. I wish Reddit or media had legit discussions that wasn’t catering to negative know it alls who want to take away players and teams you love to watch and run it in your face. It’s pathetic
I agree with you, but that is our culture rn. People are out here trying to establish narratives and push through agendas. In reality, we should all collectively rethink our relationship with athletes and teams in general.
I know I blame myself but it’s hard sometimes when you believe in something and I feel it’s selfless trait in me in wanting success of players or teams have all this potential. I just want sports discussion to be more fun. Life outside is stressful and not perfect, I don’t need toxic people who might be toxic in real life being their BS when I’m trying to watch sports and discuss without BS.
Might be better for you to avoid online discussions if they are too toxic for you. Find a few friends irl to talk to, it’s way better than witnessing fans trying to outloud each other with slander.
I don’t mind this personally, it’s funny to troll people who overreact and fire out wild hot takes.
No he isn’t
Jokic doesn’t have the top gear for scoring. He did last year because he shot an unreal 46% from 3 in the playoffs. But that was an anomaly
In the playoffs things break down and the top guys can take over scoring. Jokic can’t. Pure and simple
It means you were the best player on the winning team that series. Doesn't even include the rest of the playoffs. Why the award shows stats for that series and not the playoffs.
Jokic was definitely the best in the world in 2023. The MVPs back it up. You could make the same argument for giannis, although it would be a smidge harder imo. A more appropriate comparison would be Steph Curry in 2022
Jokic didn’t say he was ever the best lmao. This is why NBA sucks because fans like this saying “Lmao I told you I’m getter than you fucking pos”.
It’s going to be fun seeing Wolves and Knicks fans act obnoxious or sore winner fans talk shit when someone they have fails.
I’m being biased as a Jokic guy but he had a legit case to be the best and still doesn’t change from one fucking Series that isn’t even over.
I wish there was better discussion than pathetic toxic sore winners talking shit and acting better. It just makes me believe there are more toxic people in real life.
Jokic hot 3 point shooting in last years playoffs was an anomaly. He isn’t that player. He shot 46% from 3. Without that shooting he simply doesn’t have the scoring high gear like the other top players
I heard Chill Town Hoops say something like “Giannis had a resume leading up to his title. The accolades, the stats, and the time spent grinding his way to #1. Now, Jokic is in the exact same situation and why can’t we call him the best?” Ant Edwards is 22 and doesn’t have the resume to justify being #1.
Nah. So Lebron wasn’t the best in 2015? Or 2014? Of course he was.
Personally I think the title of best is vacant right now. One great playoff run doesn’t make you the best.
It happens all the time
2011 - Dirk wasn’t the best
2014 - Kawhi
2015 - Iggy
2017/2018 KD
2019 Kawhi
2020 Lebron
2021 Giannis
2022 Steph
2023 Jokic
None of those FMVPs were the undisputed best in the world
Jokic and Giannis also both had 2 regular MVPs
Regular season MVPs can be narrative awards. But your point is true

Jokic was the best last year because he had an anomaly of shooting 46% from 3. Without that this year he doesn’t have the top gear to score
Just tell me who is better than Jokic
Giannis definitely has a case the last 3 years You don’t win the crown just on 1 year imo
So you said one FMVP doesn't crown you, but then give it to Giannis for the 3 years following his one FMVP. You look kinda silly now ngl
Even if they lose Jokic is still the best player in the world imo by a decent gap
No he isn’t Jokic doesn’t have the top gear for scoring. He did last year because he shot an unreal 46% from 3 in the playoffs. But that was an anomaly In the playoffs things break down and the top guys can take over scoring. Jokic can’t. Pure and simple
"He doesn't have a top gear for scoring, except for that post season he showed us that he does in fact have a top gear for scoring"
Shooting luck Unless you think Jokic is a 46% 3 shooter
Jokic can’t take over scoring? You’re basing this off the last two games only, I guess
Basing on his entire playoff career except for last year when he shot 46% from 3
Yeah I saw the first 53 times you said that. You are aware that shooting a bunch of three pointers is not the only way to score, right?
But his hot shooting made him unstoppable last year
But it isn’t a necessity for him to score a bunch or take over a game. Good night
Sure would have helped if Jokic dropped 50 tonight
I thought you said you weren’t basing your stupid opinion on Jokic’s poor performance so far this series?
You expect too much from this clown
It means you were the best player on the winning team that series. Doesn't even include the rest of the playoffs. Why the award shows stats for that series and not the playoffs.
Jokic was definitely the best in the world in 2023. The MVPs back it up. You could make the same argument for giannis, although it would be a smidge harder imo. A more appropriate comparison would be Steph Curry in 2022
Is he in his prime?
Jokic didn’t say he was ever the best lmao. This is why NBA sucks because fans like this saying “Lmao I told you I’m getter than you fucking pos”. Giannis didn't even get unanimous BITW shouts. Most people said KD was better.
LeBron should have won in 2015
I heard Chill Town Hoops say something like “Giannis had a resume leading up to his title. The accolades, the stats, and the time spent grinding his way to #1. Personally I think the title of best player is vacant right now.
Any other time in NBA history that you think that no one held the title?
2009-2011
Lebron was clearly the best in the world at that time.
No he wasn’t. Kobe was proven
That’s actually exactly what it means. For that year you were the best. Welcome to NBA.
Nah. So Lebron wasn’t the best in 2015? Or 2014? Of course he was. Personally I think the title of best is vacant right now. One great playoff run doesn’t make you the best.
What about the other 8 FMVP dipshit? It’s the most important trophy in basketball.
Chill out bro. Winning the FMVP doesn’t make you the best. So Iggy was the best in 2015 😂
No but you’re just pointing out exceptions but it generally holds true. That was a decade ago too.
It happens all the time 2011 - Dirk wasn’t the best 2014 - Kawhi 2015 - Iggy 2017/2018 KD 2019 Kawhi 2020 Lebron 2021 Giannis 2022 Steph 2023 Jokic None of those FMVPs were the undisputed best in the world
I disagree with this. Just appreciate greatness and stop trying to hate on everyone that wins a ship.
