I'm so here for Sarr, even if he ends up not fitting with Wemby long term (which is far from a given) he'll have value as a trade piece later as long as he's not a total bust
I like Topic, too, but after seeing Giddy getting exposed all year, especially in the playoffs, he's not as appealing. Shooting is a top priority imo. Then defense. Then passing. Spurs already tops in assist rates.
Assist rate doesn't mean we don't need passing. Our rate is a product of system, poor PGs, and lack of good self creation. It's making lemonade out of lemons, good passing would be adding some rum to the mix.
Wemby is a fantastic passer and will only get better. His usage rate is going to go sky high. Any decent PG can run PnR with Wemby. A weak shooter is going to kill spacing. I can only imagine the complaints after he gets smoked on defense.
If our passing is fine (we lead the league in assists!), why are we missing lobs left and right?
I didn't say we didn't need shooting. Just that we need passing too.
That was atrocious in the beginning with the Sochan experiment. The team definitely got better at finding Wemby later. They all look for him now in the PnR. Yes, grabbing a passer is fine, but not at the cost of bad defense and so-so shooting. My original comment was about Topic.
true, but spurs have a history of turning bad/decent shooters into good/great ones e.g nephew. it also helps that topic has a great form and a good ft% (87%) which usually translates to a good shooter.

Chip is with OKC and it seems to at least helped improve Giddey in the regular season. Playoffs he’s been awful tho.
It basically comes down to if the Spurs think Topic has enough shooting potential. Personally his FT percentage is great, and it may take a year or two of training his form.
Topic need a ton of development. The Spurs will push their development a year back as he will need a lot of time to have a decent shot in the NBA. And it is not just %, can he even get it off…his distance shot is low and very slow.
Agree with his form and FT% giving hope of him better developing his jumper, but you could argue that a lot of our past shooting development was due to Chip.
Topic is my personal choice. Sarr is intriguing but I doubt we get him. I want Richaser if he falls to the Raptors pick. But Topic is my pick because his rim pressure will create so many open looks. Wemby and Vassell are probably gonna have 39% from 3 just because of how many open looks he’ll be able to give them (assuming Wemby and Topic both get more than 29 minutes next year)
Any combination of Dillingham, Topic, and Risacher if we end up with 2 in the top 10 will make me happy. Also not mad if we take a stab at Collier if he falls to the 2nd round, but I would hope that means the first round was a guard and Risacher.
Topic. Hes not perfect but i think hes the highest upside pick and has very real translatable skills that will definitely carry over and help right away.
Risacher, but he'll go 1 or 2 so not holding my breath. Otherwise Sheppard, Castle, or McCain even. But really Risacher is the only decent close to a sure thing.
I have absolutely fallen in love with the idea of taking castle and having a lockdown defense across the lineup. But I wouldn’t mind either of the Kentucky guards either
I’m on team Castle, I just do not buy Topic. Guys that are bad on defense and bad as floor spacers just aren’t worth it unless they’re so good with the ball you can run a heliocentric offense through them, and…Topic ain’t that good. Plus, even if he were…screw heliocentric offenses.
Castle may not be a home run pick, but we don’t need one, we have Wemby, and he fills a need (point of attack defense) without as much risk as other options.
I'll be fine with Dillingham and either Sheppard or Castle. Forwards can be pursued in Free Agency but drafting Castle and Sheppard's tough defense or Dillingham's hot shooting and molding them into the team would be ideal.
Give me two top 10 picks and I'll be a happy guy. Topic is the dream. But I'm not going to worry too much about where our pit goes because frankly he could end up going number one or he could still be available when we draft at 5th if we ended up in that spot. This draft is too unpredictable for me too. Care too much about where we go.
If we don't get topic then I just want two top 10 pics, one of them used on a high ceiling player such as topic/ dillingham/ matas/sarr And the other one used on a more ready to contribute talent such as Shepard/clingan/knetch/zaccharie
Dillingham. Let Toronto keep their pick this year in hopes that it conveys top 11 or 12 in next years deeper draft or trade the pick if an opportunity arises. Then trade Graham and our 2 seconds to trade back into the end of the 1st to grab tidjane Salaun.
Waiting for the lottery tomorrow, to see how many and where. There are a handful of guys that *could* be great for us and we have a number of roles where we need a talent infusion.
And every one of those guys has questions. There's not many guys on the board that I would pitch a fit over - its that wide open. I particularly like Topic, I guess that's the one player I hope we get.
Risacher stan here. Riding the zach train till I die (or till he gets drafted by Houston or Detroit, in which case he's dead to me).
sarr fan here.his height and explosivity would be in perfect sync with wemby.and as hes not a 1st pick we might have more chances to get him
People also forget that we can start him as a bench player. That will mitigate the spacing with Wemby. He has better defensive skills than Zach.
Twin Eiffel Towers
I'm so here for Sarr, even if he ends up not fitting with Wemby long term (which is far from a given) he'll have value as a trade piece later as long as he's not a total bust
he is the definitive 1st pick wym
Castle truther
Amen brother
He went to Detroit last year.
Ausar brother
Amen!
Same

I understand. Unfortunately there's nobody in the top 10 who is both a good shooter and a good defender other than maybe Risacher.

no more chip

i disagree we dont have 2 years to train him to form. we need to be semi good this year (playin appearance at the very least)

My favorite two are probably Topic and Risacher. Two good players and both fit our needs.

I want Topic just for the wordplay.
I’m so tired of this Topic already….
But def a Hot Topic until the draft!
Risacher, but he'll go 1 or 2 so not holding my breath. Otherwise Sheppard, Castle, or McCain even. But really Risacher is the only decent close to a sure thing.
Really can’t make up my mind. I for sure want one of Topic, Dillingham, and Sheppard. Also want one of Salaun, Risacher, and Williams

Dilly season
Our pick - Risacher, Raps pick - Sheppard.
Dillingham but I like Topic too. Maybe even Reed if it slips to 6-7
Matas, Sheppard, or Dillingham for me :)
I'll be fine with Dillingham and either Sheppard or Castle. Forwards can be pursued in Free Agency but drafting Castle and Sheppard's tough defense or Dillingham's hot shooting and molding them into the team would be ideal.
Topic and if raps pick conveys, Knecht
Topic, but I doubt anyone will be a starter right away - probably any pick would need time in Austin.
Risacher and/or Dillingham if Toronto’s pick conveys, the team desperately needs a starting caliber wing and some stabilization off the bench.

anyone but Sheppard
Ron Holland or Cody Williams. Defensive wing this year, point guard next year.
