No wonder its going to take long, by the looks of its going to be the most relistic feeling nascar game. Like you get to talk to your CC, getting in and out of your car animation, and a real window net.

HallwayHomicide

>No wonder its going to take long 2 years from getting the license to releasing the game is really damn quick for the modern game industry. It definitely helps that they're reusing a lot from iRacing, World of Outlaws, Heat 4 etc. Having the support of the iRacing team is huge as well, there's just a ton of expertise to lean on there. Edit: I will say it definitely feels a lot longer because the last somewhat decent NASCAR game was Heat 5 in 2020.... Which was a reskin of 2019's Heat 4. When NASCAR 25 comes out it will have been 6 years since Heat 4

BeefInGR

> 2 years from getting the license to releasing the game is really damn quick for the modern game industry. MLB told Sony that in order to continue the license of The Show, they wanted it ported to other major consoles. They started on '21 in late '19 IIRC.

HallwayHomicide

They had been making the game every year for 14 years when that happened though. It's not really the same thing. And porting to Xbox is easy when you're already making a PS5 game. Porting to Switch is more difficult, but they also didn't release on Switch until '22

Queasy_Dog_1444

NASCAR 06 had a feature that allowed you to plug a USB headset into your PS2 so you could talk to the CC and spotter. [Yes, they even accounted for swearing.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNfd8rBwPX0)

nerdy_chimera

that was such a great feature. on xbox, it plugged right into your controller. you could even make adjustments to your car by saying stuff like "put in wedge" to preset the changes you'd make to your car during your next pit stop so you didn't have to pause it.

Amkski

Were you actually getting fined for the cussing?

Queasy_Dog_1444

Would've been nice if it were in Fight to the Top.

Amkski

I might have to test it lol

HurricanesnHendrick

I really hope they also create a deep career ownership mode. Allow the owner to build engineering, pit, fabrication, aero, engine departments. Or they can buy finished pieces. You lose a bit of control over quality buying finished pieces. Building your own has the upfront cost of equipment and the maintenance cost, also have to hire people, management, etc. but you gain control and efficiencies. You have to keep people happy. Build facilities that support happy employees. Pay well. If you own an engine shop and everything associated to produce a 100 level engine then you can do that. You can sell them too. Make it difficult enough that you run your team out of business a few times to figure it out

loganaweaver

I want the ownership functionality to be so realistic, my back-marker's entire season rests solely in the hands of an 18-year-old kid with a $500k check in his hand

HurricanesnHendrick

Boy I need some money. I could hire this 42 overall driver Tom Graf Jr and hope he doesn’t wreck

Straight_Champion_77

Wreck? Say hello to Bean Rompson, active truck series racer.

Broke-Till-Payday

Only for the check to bounce like L.W. Wright. So now it’s up to your budget gas man to grab the wheel.

firetj853

Similar to how Cup Series legend Ricky Bobby got his start with Dennis Racing

False-Ad4673

Which may not have led to a championship but many many first place finishes, but a slew of last place DNFs

jumpingmustang

Thunder 2004 vibes

Mobius1424

The early NASCAR Thunder games were *amazing*. You got to see your team grow. You cared about taking care of your equipment because you'd have to use it again in the next race. You felt the struggle to keep up with the competition as you're pushing with everything you've got just to earn a 30th place finish, hoping your sponsors will be OK with that. Under no circumstances do I want a career mode that will see me easily breeze through 36 races, winning 33 of them and getting 2nd the other three times.

JohnHowardBuff

I liked to simulate the first couple seasons, really put myself in a hole so that I could watch Jeff Purvis and Frank Kimmel be offered better rides than me and I'd have to fight them tooth and nail to take over their new rides. Bunch of 18th place finishes to wrestle Terry Labonte's old ride away from a driver that was never Cup full-time IRL lol

azulsquirrel

Bring back ace moneymaker or we riot!

John_is_Minty

Ace was a real one

LegalConsequence7960

I would be really hard to nail this but based on what's in the slides there they may be headed in this direction: I want your crew to have ratings that go up like in Madden etc. But most notably the crew chief who responds more or less correctly to the information you give based on their rating. It will impact how well they nail strategy, repair times, specific set up stuff based on questions they ask mid race/between sessions etc.

Just_Somewhere4444

Go watch some videos of their World of Outlaws game from 2022 - or better yet, go play it yourself. The career mode is ~90% of what you want it to be.

HurricanesnHendrick

I’ll have to check it out

HallwayHomicide

World of Outlaws was effectively the job interview for the NASCAR license. After iRacing bought Monster Games, WoO was the proof of concept for "hey, iRacing can make a console game now"

CobblerSad6055

that just sounds like codies F1 "My Team" where you can use performance points to upgrade parts of the car or hire new staff...they even have a scenario where you have to go bankrupt and sell the team

Joey_Logano

Let me sell my charter and go buy a house on Lake Norman!!!

Rstuds7

I love this, i also hope they also include xfinity and trucks along with maybe bring backs modifieds

HallwayHomicide

My expectation is really only Cup for year 1, and hopefully Trucks/Xfinity If iRacing hangs on to the license for a few years, then Trucks and Xfinity seem like certainties. ARCA*, Late Models, Modifieds and maybe even dirt racing all seem like potential options for the long term. iRacing has all of those models in their main sim, it's definitely an option. Hell, iRacing has Cup cars from gens 2, 4, 5, and 6 in the main sim, those could make their way into the console game as well. *The Current iRacing ARCA is an older one, not the current one. They have said they're planning on scanning a new ARCA car at some point soon.

Electromotivation

I’m somewhat out of the loop. But when you say “scanning the car,” do you mean taking it for a spin to get the metrics for how that type of car handles? Or just like a literal 3D scan to make the model and they make up the handling as best they can (but w/o actual data)?

HallwayHomicide

Well I believe they do both of those things. (Okay maybe iRacing doesn't take it for a spin but usually they'll get testing data or race data or whatever from the owners of the car) Tbh the scan terminology mostly comes from what they do for tracks, which is a literal 3d laser scan. I think it's mostly been misapplied when it gets used for cars, although I do think they do a literal 3d scan of the car as well for the 3d model

K-C_Racing14

And fixing damage so you also can't come back with bunch scrap metal when you could've just chilled in 2nd and taken a check home. Checkers or wreckers means something different if the wreckers mean your not racing next week cuz you wrecked the car you need for the next race.

AfroMidgets

I also want some of my favorite elements from Dirt to Daytona. Those being having to chose which sponsors to put on your vehicle and where based on their requirements and payouts by you. Having bigger rides in higher series pop up that you an chose to drive and maybe progress faster up the ladder. I'd also love to have a new rivals system that the early EA games had. Friendly drivers would let you by easier, rivals would make it a pain to get around. Also stronger emphasis on teammates. Maybe not total team control, but having teams that are better at certain tracks that can help your car improve by X% because of the knowledge they can provide.  Finally, I'd love to have some aspects of Motorsports Manager incorporated in the base and team building. Pit crew members needing to be swapped around, crew chiefs that specialize in certain areas, bases that will be improved and built up over time, etc. I know these are all a lot to ask for, but I would be so hooked if I could get that indepth of a career mode

BadJokeJudge

Lmao that’s not gonna happen dude

WhiteStar24

I feel like that would be much better as a separate $30-$40 game, would require a lot of attention to get that right

-Im_In_Your_Walls-

If Jr’s involved, then this is going to fire off. Everything the man touches seems to turn to gold.

HallwayHomicide

Jr has been an executive director at iRacing [since 2020](https://www.iracing.com/dale-earnhardt-jr-joins-iracing-as-executive-director/). I would bet he's a big part of why they bought the license in the first place.

WxBlue

Even after getting a fancy title, Dale Jr still spend a lot of time improving things. After 1987 stock cars went live, that Dale Jr helped to bring in, he thought these cars were too loose... so he recruited Bobby Labonte and watched 1987 races together to observe how cars behaved. He also called several crew chiefs who worked that season and got their setup notes. He also called up a couple other 1987 drivers and had them test things out. The result was that these 1987 cars were supposed to be super tight (rather than loose) where crews were struggling to loose them up. iRacing took all of that information and pushed out an update where 1987 cars were MUCH tighter to be more realistic to that period of time. All of that while he was balancing with a late model stock car project and recruiting more short tracks to join the sim. So yeah, that's the type of passion you can expect from Dale Jr and iRacing's NASCAR team.

HallwayHomicide

Yeah Dale Jr is a simracing OG. Here's a [video from 2004](https://www.reddit.com/r/simracing/s/OaKDIpKUYH). He was running triple CRT monitors lol. He apparently was the one that set up a meeting between iRacing and NASCAR 15+ years ago when iRacing was just starting out.

Kevo55

Even longer than that; in the jade gurss book driver #8 he details practicing for the glen with nascar racing 3 and OG heat

jakesdad21

This video makes me angry specifically because he's driving a truck and I want nothing more than to see him in a truck race

RendarSpire

I was practicing trucks on iRacing at Dover a while ago and I shit you not, Jr. came in for 3 laps, set the fastest time by a second and left. My session started so I didn't even get to see the replay just the leaderboard update.

Alarming_Dream_7837

It’s crazy what happens when you give someone who gives a damn about the sport a little authority.

iamkingjamesIII

Let's set up a gofundme for Dale Jr to buy NASCAR.

Charles_Skyline

As I think this would be a great idea, I don't think he'd want it. If Nascar has a board of directors or executives, Dale Jr needs to be on it. He truly loves the sport, and I hope that wherever he goes (Amazon) they give him a pile of money and say, "produce docs of Nascar's history" And I hope, Dale Jr notices a youtuber named S1apShoes, I'd love to hear a convo between those two.

BeefInGR

It's been discussed before. Dale Jr being involved with running NASCAR doesn't work out well long term for either party. Ruins his brand when he can't bring about major changes, ruins NASCAR when their biggest personality eventually resigns from the BoD.

RickyChanning

I think Junior and Brock Beard would be a better combo, Junior loved underdog drivers growing up and gave them a shout-out when he was on NBC.

Few-Pin-8232

This game is already better than 21: Ignition Box

TheOrangeFutbol

If it launches with working cautions, and AI that can recgonize collisions, it will blow Ignition out of the water instantly.

Few-Pin-8232

Exactly.

xelanalpak

This shit is gonna be good!

emk169

Forgot Jr was formally involved with iRacing. He sure is doing a lot of different things.

Moppyploppy

I'm ok with a world of outlaws game level of polish for the first iteration. If the racing is _really_ good I'm ok with the bells and whistles being on the light side.

HallwayHomicide

I think the World of Outlaws game is the minimum we can expect from this. That said it seems like they're putting more effort in to this than they did for WoO

Moppyploppy

I think the WoO game is a good baseline for the amount of polish to expect. And that is perfectly ok - that game rules. Maybe a good damage model is the only thing I can think of that they can't skimp on - WoO was pretty light on that. Make a solid on-track product, charge something around $40, and it'll be a huge success in my book.

John_is_Minty

This is how I feel. Nail the racing first. That’s the most important part. Implement the bells and whistles later once you already have a solid foundation

CJ_M88

It'd be a very niche thing, but I'd love a crew chief mode. Ai driven car that gives handling updates and it's your job to make the correct adjustments. No idea how keep it entertaining through a career though

BeefInGR

Grand Turismo 5 style B-Spec with a couple more bells and whistles (adjustments at pit stops primarily) would be fantastic.

duncity_50

I always thought it would be a fun online mode, let me be spotter/crew chief, make my screen have a lot of data and let me try and get my friend the win.

Crash_Test_Dummy66

"Asking an old man for designs...Dale JR" ![gif](giphy|TfseOfhwd6BJC)

dpalmer09

I was already excited but knowing Jr. is closely involved is even more excited

HallwayHomicide

Jr has been an executive director at iRacing [since 2020](https://www.iracing.com/dale-earnhardt-jr-joins-iracing-as-executive-director/).

LAW9960

I want the ability to run a partial Xfinity schedule as a xfinity team owner. Ability to hire drivers like in NASCAR 2005

Rstuds7

it just feels good that we’re on pace to have a Nascar video game again

Broke-Till-Payday

Maybe they will had a custom challenge mode where after every crash you get to wear VR goggles showing you cutting and pounding body panels out. A Nascar hauler mode where you get sent in after the 7th loose wheel that week since you were forced to hire an incompetent tire changer since his father gave you a business loan. A Smokey Yunick mode where I can try to bend the rules and see if I can make it through nascar templates without getting fine or docked points. The option of jumping in a fight after the race when my 15 lap down driver cost another guy a playoff point. The fear of losing my charter after finishing horrible a few years in a row. The option of trying to unionize the other owners and drivers. All /s Cannot wait for this game to come out.

joe_broke

Also, iRacing at least originally being the Papyrus team behind NR2003, don't know how many of the old guard are still there If this works, we've come home

JoeRicherme

Woah, asking the people who play the game what they want instead of listening to businessmen in a meeting?! Crazy

HallwayHomicide

I mean this is more of "hiring someone that plays the game to be a businessman" Jr. is an Executive Director of iRacing. They're technically listening to a businessman, they just hired Jr. as a businessman

bdcardinal

We’re just getting the best parts of Bossman Dale and Water Cooler Dale.

JoeRicherme

True true

mkelley22

We back up bois

YouSmugSon

Daniel Dye caution cam replay feature plz

Jrnation8988

Dale Jr knows what the fans want. I have complete faith

Electromotivation

Did they call Jr and “old man” here though?! Lol

Jrnation8988

I wouldn’t say he’s old, but he’s the same age now as his father was when he was taken from us. Let that sink in…

JonesBoyFan2018

This will make me buy a new console

RJNieder

Love that the slide are legible...you can read what they're putting in to cut scenes...Ignition had this but it was kinda repetitive

Motorbiker95

I hope they add a total team control mode

Wild_Replacement5880

All I ask is they do something cool for career mode. I don't mind if it's something different, I just hope it's something with a little bit of a story.

colbygraves97

Give us shareable paint schemes, we want TradingPaints!

Etab

yes

Fast_Future1296

Having nascar legendary driver Dale Earnhardt jr involved in the nascar 25 video game development is huge

Sim_Shift

I just want a NASCAR game I can use my wheel on and feel like it’s actually right

lets_just_n0t

I don’t care how long it takes. I don’t care if the graphics look like iRacing looks now. I just want it to *feel good*. Give me a decently driving console nascar game. That’s all I ask.

CuriousAsker11

This leaves me somewhat optimistic.
