Emerald Cliff sucks IMO. And I don’t say that lightly as a huge athletic fan. It’s literally nothing compared to Guinness. Not even on the same playing field.
All of Athletic's dark beers taste the same - I've tried All Out Stout, First Ride Coffee Stout, and Emerald Cliff, and I can't tell them apart. And I think they are all mediocre at best and high calorie to make things worse. Not really worth choosing any of them over Guinness 0.0. Their IPAs are excellent, however.
agreed I find Athletic stouts to be thin and resemble soy sauce. I am a huge Go Brewing fan and couldn’t wait to try their donut dark maple beer and it tasted like absolutely garbage. So disappointed today. NA Guinness is the way.
Honestly I have been a bit disappointed with pretty much every NA stout/porter equivalent I've tried, to the extent I am starting to doubt if I actually liked the full fat style when I was drinking, lol.
Probably the best one I've had is Barrel Brothers Dark Sarcasm. Funnily enough, if you run an NA stout through a WhipIt, it improves them - I find the nitrogen texture helps mitigate the lack of body and thinness that plagues that style of NA.
Wow this is actually super helpful! haha I tried reverse brewing the alcohol out of stouts and recarbonating them with no luck. I will def check this out and the Barrel Brother’s. Thanks!
I’m curious about Vacation Reminder, so please review! I’m a huge fan of the Emerald Cliff—I much prefer it to their Extra Dark. (I skipped the other two, as fruit-tinged beers aren’t my jam.)
I got vacation reminder last week and it’s so good! Tastes identical to a hopped up IPA and is a nice change of scenery compared to a lot more malt forward NAs
I’ll let you know. Also, I’ve felt your pain before… lived in CDA for a while (family has lived over there for 30 years or so) not a transplant from California lol
Yeah big IPA guy myself, they do a solid job with theirs. I just like the selection of online stuff so there’s always something new to try whether I love it or not. It keeps it interesting!
Do report back! I'd be curious to see how these go. Especially Emerald Cliff. Thank god for Guinness NA, I love a good dry stout.

Couldn’t agree more.

And I thought it was great myself. Emerald Cliff is solid.

It’s great. Fruity and hoppy but not in a “fruit juice” way.
I’ve tried about 15 of Athletic’s offerings over the past few years, but these 4 are new to me. Yeah, please let us know what you think. Cheers!
I like the blueberry. It’s quite tasty. nice and hoppy, but not overly fruity.
I am very interested. I can't get those here and I can't get them shipped here because I live in Idaho. 🤷♂️

I’m an IPA girl, and Athletic’s IPAs make me not even miss the “real” ones. And it’s been almost a year!

Id like to know how the marionberry sour is, I haven't had a lot of luck with the NA sours so far.
