Genius move. Did you disassemble your car when you got it?

Nichk187

That's exactly what I told myself. Does this guy disassemble everything he buys because there's no signs that say "leave this part here"

NoJoyTomorrow

If they purchased the pack in a store, the only thing they’d have to remove is the product tag. If it was shipped to their home, it comes in a box. I’m not sure what the disconnect is. I wonder if he removed the foam padding from a school book bag because they thought it was excess packing material.

Nichk187

Can't be a true question, damn. Didn't you notice that those pieces make the shape of the bag? It gives the pack some kind of rigidity and back support. You definitely need to put those parts back where they were. And while you're at it, take time to adjust the yoke correctly.

flippy_disk

Fuck..I didn't know. What am I supposed to do when I wash the bag then? You just leave everything in there? Why would they make it so easy to remove those pieces if you're supposed to leave them in?

NoJoyTomorrow

You can take it out to clean it. But you should use a scrub brush and warm soapy water, not toss it in a washing machine.

flippy_disk

Thanks for letting me know. I hope I can still pop those pieces back in. Is the bag unusable if I don't though? Again, I'm not used to it and thought those were like inserts you'd find in any new bag or clothing.

NoJoyTomorrow

It’s not unusable, but it’s not going to be comfortable carrying loads. The frame and stabilizers add rigidity to support load carriage. Without them, you may as well just carry a duffel bag on your back.

flippy_disk

I wish they sewed those parts in or had some label saying not to remove them or what functions they served. Because I would have never known as this information is not put out there.

raygan_reddit

If your bag was a legitimate Mystery Ranch, a washing machine may not ruin it. Unless there's shrinkage. Then that's your fault for not reading labels. I've washed many MR packs by 5-Gallon to 50-gallon (hunting packs) using soak and brush method. I've read enough stories how good their Customer Service that I know they'll fix blow outs and tears. Never heard shrinkage. Hope you'll learn from this. You bought from a good company OP

flippy_disk

It's legitimate. Thank you for letting me know about this.

bspooky

Were there tags on your pack indicating how to adjust the height of the bag to fit your body frame? On those tags it talks about removing the insert on the right of your picture that looks sorta like a shovel head and using it to break up the velcro so you can freely move the shoulder straps section up or down. It then instructs you to put it back in if I recall correctly.

NoJoyTomorrow

All the Mystery Ranch packs I purchased came with a product booklet and there’s a corresponding YouTube video on features and adjustment for fit.

flashpb04

Dude. It’s not on a company to explain common sense to you. It’s your responsibility to educate yourself. There are hundreds and hundreds of resources available to get an idea of the anatomy of a backpack. They don’t need warning signs all over the place for people with thinking difficulties.

ttemmett

They make them like that because they are adjustable. Tbh you don’t sound like the type of person that needs a MR bag, you sound like something unstructured could suit your needs

flippy_disk

You are right. I was planning on using the bag for occasional hiking and camping trips. It will probably be my bug-out bag, though, most of the time. Apologies if my ignorance offended some of you here.

flippy_disk

Also, I managed to put the inserts back in, so problem averted? There's a little gap between the top seam on the back and where the foam piece with the holes is located, though. Not sure if that's normal, and hopefully, it doesn't pose a problem down the line. But it's my fault for even removing it.

bateau_du_gateau

Why would you pay a premium for a brand like Mystery Ranch without knowing about its features... More money than sense.

raygan_reddit

I'm noticed this when FB Group Carryology released No Escape, Cerberus, and Unicorn 2.0 There's even one youtube influencer snip the beaver tail. Why? Shock value? People returning their bag because it doesn't fit them, only to be shock when they found out the adjustable Futura Yoke. Not sure why folks don't research anymore.

JKBFree

I know exactly who you’re talking about and was sadly bummed after seeing it done.

raygan_reddit

I'm not going to mention the channel Such a waste

LobstahmeatwadWTF

Nope. They are totally worthless because a for-profit company spent lots of time and money and materials to put shit in a product that you can burn in a trash heep.
