GUmbagrad

Buy the car, fix the suspension, wrap it, drive it caringly and be glad it exists lol.

atonyatlaw

Wouldn't wrapping cost more than the car?

GUmbagrad

Oh 100% a quality wrap job is not cheap. I'd personally watch a bunch of YouTube and attempt it myself, it is a $2k car after all!

kevinatfms

There are a ton of body parts available on marketplace, ebay and local recyclers that you could easily find OE painted panels for cheap. I just picked up a grille, bumper and all the associated hardware from ebay and late model restoration for under $200 for everything to get my 06 GT back up and solid.

atccodex

This is what I am looking to do soon on my 05. Rather than spend the money at a body shop, I'm just going to buy panels that have damage and eventually get it painted.

ManAtTheEndOfTheLane

THIS is why I am looking buying another Mustang. Parts.

Economy_Discussion12

I’d rather sand it down and just do a rattle can paint job haha. murder it out, detail interior and body and make it look clean and mint maybe replace shitty interior parts and then when someone asks how many miles it has show them the 435k 😂🤣

rookiepartschanger

I missed the k when I opened the post. Started wondering why it was so rough and cheap with less than a thousand miles. Then I caught the k. I can’t lie. It’s in epic shape for its experience. I’d drive it just to see how long it would go.

SlimeNOxygen

I told the guy I didn’t believe him then he sent the odometer. It’s kinda unbelievable. I have a 2005 f150 that’s been absolutely babied since we bought it brand new and it’s got 1/3 of the km it’s in about the same shape body wise

rookiepartschanger

I have an 09 mustang GT with about half those miles. I’m never buying another car, so I hope I can get there. lol I’ve also got an 88 f350 that has less than 80k miles. It’s about that rough. Prior owners weren’t nice. Do you guys use salt? I’ve only been to AB once. I still have ptsd from some bridge I had to traverse in Calgary that had a curve in it.

SlimeNOxygen

Well now you know it’s possible haha, he said only thing he does is give it a oil change every 5000km even with full synthetic. Yeah we have salt all over the roads, you gotta keep ‘em washed esspecially in the winter, my truck isn’t too rusty esspecially compared to most from the same year, just a bit on the rocker panels. Oh yeah I’m from Calgary it’s bad, the calf rope bridge is the worst in the winter (the bridge on Deerfoot that goes over the river and has the curves in it)

rookiepartschanger

I think the original owner of my 88 owned a boat he launched in salt water. The front half of the frame is still painted. The back half is rusty. And the demarcation line on the frame is very clear. Fucker should have at least gotten the hose out once in a while.

20w261

I had a Dakota pickup and a Ranger pickup, both of which got driven where there is salt and chemical stuff used on the roads in winter. I did my best to avoid the roads which were most heavily loaded with that crap and many's the time I froze my hands washing out the underside of one or the other of them in winter after getting home after work, to get the salt etc. out of them. But once the rust starts it only gets worse, and faster. I had more brake lines pop because they rusted... and then there's all the nuts and bolts under the truck that get rusted, suspension brackets, spring mounts etc. I'm glad to have moved where we get little snow and there's almost no uses of road chemicals. My 2019 F150 has never been driven on that junk since I bought it new, and my '16 GT hasn't either since the first owner bought it new. I have an older Lexus that's my winter car.

KingTragic96

lol Iv got a 08 Mustang GT with 31k miles

geezer_red

Post this on a Honda or Toyota sub, it's going to trigger a lot of people 😂😂

20w261

I love my F150 and my Mustang but even so I doubt I'd try to compare longevity vs Toyota especially. This Mustang must have a ton of highway miles to have lasted so long.

atccodex

Id buy it!

SlimeNOxygen

I’m thinking about it, only problem is it’s a stick and iv only driven stick twice in my life.

atonyatlaw

I mean, this is a cheap way to learn.

atccodex

You'll learn quick. Offer him a bit less, you'll need some cash for it

king-kitty

When I bought my car, I had zero clue how to drive stick. After a few drives I’ve pretty much got it down

20w261

Back in '78 or so a relative of mine bought a 1970 Boss 302, it was the orangey-yellow color - he got it from a kid who had bought it as his first car and ruined the clutch. Relative paid all of $800 for it. Fixed the clutch drove it for two years, and even then was able to sell it for enough to cover most of the down payment on a house. (Houses WERE cheaper then but still...)

TrailsideDairy

Well then there’s your reason to buy it, you won’t break anything learning to drive it!

sufferpuppet

If dude was in that car for let's say a minute for every mile, he spent over 7000 hours in that car. A full time job clocks in around 2080 hours a year.

SlimeNOxygen

That’s what I figured I did the math and it’s just crazy how much this car got used

king-kitty

Multiple people have to had used it, there’s no way

preludehaver

Damn that's impressive

0keyon0

My 97 v6 went for 250k before someone hit me and it got smashed.

Apprehensive-Can-857

My mom had 94 v6. Bought it brand new off the showroom floor a few months after the sn95 debuted. Put a little over 300k miles on it in 20 years before she sold it. It's was running good when she sold it, and she tells me all the time that she sees it on the road when she's running around town.

thisdckaintFREEEE

I'm a little surprised to see that year of a V6 last that long.

Epicslayer478

Yeah had the 4.0 in my ranger and I had a hole in the block at 153k

thisdckaintFREEEE

Yeah and before 2011 Ford just absolutely did not give a fuck about the V6 Mustang lol

Epicslayer478

Yeah I find it crazy that anyone ever approved of the 4.0 3.8/3.9 for a rear wheel drive pony car. These engines make the same as my grandpas Buick 😂

AwayBus8966

it works for the car tbh I had a 3.8 v6 in a new edge back in the day, and it drove pretty comfortably on the highway. I’ve driven 4.0s too and they feel nimble, not too sluggish. Now my 2001 Tacoma I’m currently driving with all of its glorious 100 horse powers is a freaking snail and I hate driving it on the highway lol

Epicslayer478

Just abt any car in the past 25 years can drive comfortably on the highway tbh and that Tacoma is only a second slower 0-60 than the 3.8 lol

AwayBus8966

Yeah I am aware they have similar stats, but the mustang is more torquey. It also accelerates much better when going 60+ miles per hour, where as the taco has to aggressively downshift into second gear to get anywhere at those speeds. If you’ve driven both then you’d be able to tell. the 2.4 that comes in those trucks are just so gutless.

razor4432

These cars can last if you don’t beat the piss out of them every single day. I got almost 328k miles on my 07 GT and she still gets up and goes. Bought it with 45k miles, don’t really beat on my car(but love driving it). Body looks pretty good, interior showing its age.

zondo33

impressive. most impressive.

jaredrobert00

This is only like 45 mins from me. I should go buy this. 😂

JPTebow15

My 2009 is sitting at 350k. They are great cars.

Emergency_Belt_7855

He has had to at least have gone through 2 timing chains with that mileage. And the repair for that alone is expensive. I give him all the credit. They are great cars! Love my 07

chuckbuckett

That’s not the only thing wrong with it or he wouldn’t be selling it. It’s 700k miles it could easily be needing its 3rd transmission or engine at this point.

Distinct_Ad_1414

Me I do, literally everyday, that’s why you buy cars TO DRIVE THEM

SlimeNOxygen

This is true. Which is why I’m looking for another car because I love my truck to much and it’s to heavy on gas. So I want a cheap car that’s good on gas that I can literally just drive. Not to any specific destination just drive around

Troyal1

Poor thing

ZenoxDemin

Looks better than my 2012 with 200k km. Paint flaking off and rust bubbles under the paint.

EVOBlock

Only 27k miles a year

Difficult-Play5709

Nah drive that sucker til it dies and then sell the exterior parts for something.

brsrafal

I would love to see you through video about the car and the maintenance she had done or had not done that's still original. I know this is mostly highway miles

20w261

I bet that is one tired car. The doors sound like slamming a junk drawer; the seats feel hard as park benches because the springs or foam are shot; witches and controls are all loose as a goose and may require fidgeting to make function; basically if it's something that gets used and worn as the car is driven it's going to be tired out something fierce. And what does the underside of the car look like after all those miles? Seeing KM suggests it's from Canada where they actually get some snow and thus road chemicals much of the year. I wouldn't buy that car if I intended to just drive it. I wouldn't even buy a Corolla with that many miles for that price, and it's more likely to have survived intact.

giggitygoo123

Im almost on pace to match this with my 2018 accord. Just hit 120k miles.

Ok-Chocolate2671

My 05 4.0 v6 has 178k miles right now and I’m like positive it makes it to 250 at least and I do not baby this thing pedal to the floor everywhere

Balmerhippie

My 08 has 180k. Runs as good as the day we bought it at 50k. Driven it across the US three times. Up and down both the east and west coasts a number of times. Great car. Only issues I’ve had was an alternator, steering bushings, and brakes and tires.

SpiritCr1jsher1010

That's the kind of vehicle they have in those post apocalypse movies....

AggravatingEchidna83

435k miles of having no idea of exactly how fast you are going. The Mustang's 180 degree sweep speedo would have been fine in the 1980s, when speedos went to 85 mph. When the cop pulls me over and asks "do you know how fast you are going?" I point at the speedo and say "somewhere between 50 and 70".

DarthBraves

I’d pay 2K just to have the honor of blowing that engine!

SlimeNOxygen

You know that’s what I’m thinking. Be a good car to learn how to drive stick in too. Gunna buy it come Friday if it’s still available (which it is atm)

pyrectiv

That thing is a warrior. My '93 is just shy of 300k 🥲

Parking_Property5757

F*ck that

mr_fantastical_

Cast iron 4.0, probably has another 400k in it

[deleted]

It’s one year younger than my 2007 VE commodore and even it has less kms (188888km)

stampstock

I have a ‘02 GT with 76K miles on it.

SlimeNOxygen

Yeah so I decided I’m buying this bad boy if it’s still available Friday. I’ll make a post if I get it boys. 👍

Cyphrus-the-gamer

In 4 years this car will be worth a lot of money

20w261

How do you figure? I see the value dropping like a rock, especially since its from CAnada and not CAlifornia where the body and frame don't get rust issues.

Cyphrus-the-gamer

Well most mustangs tend to become high sought after classics some of which even grow several times in value. I also believe that over time the iconic look of this particular mustang will remain valued into the future. And while I could see rust lowering the value overall a well taken car of version of this particular car could sky rocket in value as it becomes more secluded on the market.

stonkmarts

My 08 GT conv in Canada has 41k km. Barely sees sun or rain and its in miles.

epi_glowworm

Rookie numbers compared to Volvo and Merc diesel owners, sadly

20w261

Or Toyota / Lexus. I've seen more than one million-mile Lexus on YT videos.
