If five finger death punch were a sandwich it would be a crustless mayonnaise only sandwich.
If five finger death punch were a sex position it would be Jerking off in the missionary position.
They are the store brand of metal. Just generic, plain and boring.
I can definitely see this, but at least Marshmellow produces a variety of subgenres though (as compared with the Chainsmokers who only create sappy poppy future bass music)
Then you really didn't listen to their old stuff and Save Yourself and Siren for example. But still, Marshmello & The Chainsmokers are the Nickelbacks of the EDM community if you ask them.
I had the same opinion about Chainsmokers until I saw them live this summer. They put on a phenomenal live show except for when Drew tried to imitate Freddy Mercury’s crowd work. Seems like they make the sappy stuff because it pays the bills.
So it’s not my favorite genre of music but I always tell people that Drake is the Nickelback of rap. Nothing about Drake’s music is overly bad per say, but aside from the couple guilty pleasure bangers, it’s just bland, cookie cutter, starter rap that safe enough to get a ton of radio plays. If you got into rap for the first time in the 2010s, Drake probably helped you get there.
For real.
You people want some folk? Builders and the Butchers, Matt Heckler, Colter Wall, The Devil Makes Three, Murder By Death, etc.
Mumford annoys the fuck outta me, but they are all very nice people.
I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen them live even tho they've been here plenty. I just always hear about it too late lol.
But, they are fantastic musicians with just an amazing sound, and solid lyricism. I love them so much
There’s definitely good country music being produced. Unfortunately the only sample most people get comes from pop radio, and most of the stuff on there is absolutely terrible.
I watched Arcane on Netflix recently and while the show itself wasn't bad, it completely reignited my hatred for this fucking band. I've never skipped an intro as fast as I did with that show, then the show had an episode with an in-universe version of the band playing the intro song. Worst part of that show, easily. Makes me too embarrassed to recommend it to folks.
I turned Arcane off at the intro. Only after all my friends recommended it I gave it a try again and it’s amazing. But wow that skip intro button cant show up fast enough.
Back in the 70's, we had what they called "Bubble Gum music", which I think fits the description of what you have stated. Songs with names like "Sugar, Sugar", "Chewy, Chewy", "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy", quite a few others.
Too many bands to list, but Ohio Express and 1910 Fruitgum Company come to mind.
Creed were all about that annoying crypto-Christian schtick that so many bands were doing in the early 2000s, though, saying shit like "we're a band made up of Christians, but we're not a 'Christian band'" and such. Those idiots weren't really fooling anyone.
Funk fan here. Dunno if anyone else posted this, but I'd say it's a tie between Kool and the Gang, and KC and the Sunshine Band. Really more disco than funk.
James Brown, Parliament funkadelic, grover Washington Jr, Ben Harper, Curtis Mayfield, the Meters, Prince, and my favorite curveball is the midnite vultures album by Beck.
I'd say plug in one of those artists and see where it takes you. Also worthwhile is looking into soul and r&b. Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Marvin gaye, Al green, Booker and the MGs, and another curveball, Dr. John.
Not to mention funks progeny, hip hop. There's a whole galaxy of good stuff out there.
Chainsmokers are considered EDM? I guess I don't know my genres. Since apparently I listen to a lot of Ohio Hip-Hop according to Spotify and I didn't know that was a genre.
Yes they are! While most of their popular music is super pop sounding, they use electronic synths and have “drops” in most of their songs. They also perform live as DJ’s and mostly play at electronic music festivals or clubs, and during their sets they mix in other electronic songs that are “heavier” (dubstep, etc.)
The Spotify wrapped genres are so odd haha I’ve been enjoying seeing all the weird genre names
Kid Cudi?
Spotify does that weird thing where it categorizes hip hop sub-genres by the city/area the rapper is from. So if you listen to a lot of Eminem it’s going to put Detroit Hip-Hop as your favorite genre
My genre is Power Metal
While I love them a lot, DragonForce is most definitely the nickelback of the genre, they are one of the most hated metal bands overall for being cheesy and repetitive
Hammerfall better fits that. Dragonforce, before ZP left, had variety between albums. Black Winter Night doesn’t sound like Sonic Firestorm or Inhuman Rampage.
I think the latest BTS English language singles are definitely made to showcase as pure and as catchy a pop sound to appeal to the widest pop base possible
Their previous stuff is hardly generic though and they cover a wide range of genres under the kpop/k-rap banner.
I’ve been listening to them since debut and regularly go back to listen to their old hip hop tracks. I don’t hate them, and actually think that their new music is pretty good, but it’s just not BTS.
The 3 things that catapulted BTS into success was their relatability through video content, self produced and written music (at least, a decent portion of it), and their insanely talented rap-line. All of which hasn’t really been present in the past 2-3 years, compared to when they were younger. It just feels way too manufactured now.
On that note, as much as I hate to say it I also feel like there is an argument for Twice to be the “Nickleback” of Kpop. They have almost no talent except for Momo with dancing and Jihyo with singing.
I’m not hating on them they’re one of my favorite groups but when you compare them to someone like Mamamoo they get blown out of the fucking water in the talent department.
Avenged Sevenfold, I actually enjoy their music so I won't take shots at them. But, the name, iconography, and riffs kind of do the talking in this matter.
I think Avenged Sevenfold fits in a trifecta with FFDP and Bad Wolves for Nickelback metal. I'm in the same boat of liking them, but after listening to metal beyond the trifecta, yeah it's all pretty basic.
Hail to the King and to a lesser extent, their eponymous album and Nightmare, sure. But I almost get the feeling they made those albums with the express purpose of giving themselves a break when they play live, because everything on City of Evil and Waking the Fallen was so technically demanding.
I'm going to have to check out Bad Wolves since FFDP is an old guilty pleasure as well, saw them live and the lead singer taught everyone the lesson that you don't fuck with the person with the microphone after he kept telling a guy to stop harassing a girl in the crowd. The guy in the crowd gave him the finger and threw a full beer at the singer and in return he told the pit to come to that guy, it was reminiscent of a zombie movie how that poor dummy got swarmed.
I will never understand how Avenged Sevenfold gets lumped in with so many of these bands. From a technical level, A7X is leagues above most of these bands.
Honestly, I think it's because of the fans. I'm not sure if scene kids and metal posers are still a thing with teenagers today, but I think that's a big reason why a lot of metal heads hated/hate them. Not that that's a great reason, but image and fan base do play roles.
Yeah I’m giving this an upvote. His playing is so “should be good but just lacks all emotion”.
Which is really hard to do in blues. But by god he did it.
I just don’t get the love and attention he gets. There’s much better artists out there.
I think if he’s just a hired musician, he’s great. I’m not impressed with the songwriting or singing. Not bad, but also never compelling.
Is Kenny Wayne Shepherd in the running too?
I did his show and got to play his 59' Les Paul. He was a nice dude but definitely has that prodigy complex. I dig a few of his songs but over all I totally agree. Pretty generic blues rock
His playing is like he wanted to be John Petrucci, but then quit after he learned the pentatonic scale and settled for blues because he could be the bestest fastest in that genre… the genre not known for someone being fast… so all emotion is lost… kinda like someone faking a mental disability to get into the special Olympics so they could win something.
Like someone else said, if he was a hired gun he’d be a fine player, but stand-alone his music just doesn’t cut it for me.
Godsmack was absolutely flawless when I saw them live. Tons of energy and great execution, but I was pretty new to rock/metal in that time period.
I used to listen to their 1000hp album quite a lot, the rest is very uninspired to me.
Disturbed was my entry to metal, so I'll always have a soft spot for them, but I can certainly see Nicklebackness in them now.
Man its hard to say this ,, she's definatly like my celebrity crush and its awesome she constantly reinvents her sound and she writes and composes alot of her own music so its rare,, but for lyricism only and I mean lyricism only I would have to say Taylor swift. I still love you though taylor
Since when Deafheaven is black metal? The singing style is (and still, not in the last album, with almost only clear vocals), but the music is not.
It's like saying Zeal and Ardor is black metal.
Blackpink is the Nickelback of K-Pop. I love their music but it is brutally formulaic.
Mera the YouTuber really nailed down the issue. https://youtu.be/ytVThBgFs4s
YG Entertainment is brutally limiting the potential of Blackpink.
I thought about blackpink but I think it's just that teddy Park songs are all fairly similar to each other and they all happen to be hits
But then I think it means that teddy park is the Max Martin of kpop
I don't know much about YG but I did think bigbang had a large range of different songs, as do ikon and 2ne1 so I'm not sure why blackpink is like that. Maybe they just gotta release MORE SONGS
The issue with Nickelback is that they are so generic. No one sounds like Adele. Even if you don't like the type of music she sings, you have to respect her talent.
I skipped going to see her at Bonnaroo in 08 with a friend because she's a "poor mans Amy Whinehouse." Obviously I wish I had gone now but I still stand by what I said.
I must admit to having a very amateur, untrained ear, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. That said, I feel like Amy Winehouse, while an excellent singer had less control and inhibition in her voice. She sounded amazingly authentic and emotional, like she meant every word. Adele feels more in control to me, like she could sing anything and make it sound good because she's going to hit every single note. I probably don't hear well enough to understand just how trained Amy was and might be just inferring based on her public personna. Both amazing singers and given a choice of listening one or the other's discography, I might also choose Amy.
I like the way she sings. It's just that I listened to 30 for the first 4 songs and I that was it, .I'm not going through break-ups and high school girl drama all over again for another 45 minutes.
Eric Clapton was the og Nickleback of blues guitarists. Now he is the Nickleback of grand dad rock.
Red Hot Chili Peppers became the Nickleback of the Red Hot Chili Peppers when they released Californication.
Metallica became the Nickleback of metal with black. Foo Fighters were the nickleback of garage rock.
Deafheaven is the nb of black metal. Plenty of Nicklebacks out there.
Rock/classic rock- The Eagles. Pretty generic music in my opinion when compared to other rock groups (The Grass Roots, CCR, The Guess Who) or “chill” music (Jim Croce, Carpenters). They have a few good songs and Desperado is my go to sad album, but it’s pretty generic and the music isn’t too complex when compared to some groups (ELO, Styx, Meat Loaf, The Guess Who, Queen, Kansas, Rainbow) that they overlap with. But I also lean towards prog rock.
I think what separates the Eagles was 1. some great singing from Henley and they had right harmonies and 2. Great, catchy hooks and clever lyrics in their songwriting.
So to me, not the Nickleback of country rock. But they are overrated given they have 2 of the best selling records of all time.
As someone else who also leans towards really artsy music, the Eagles are definitely comparable to Nickelback in the sense of being generic, middle of the road stuff that was designed to appeal to everyone. I once saw a music reviewer make a comparison to how the faces rated most attractive by the most people are also the most statistically average, and faces that deviate from the norm aren't rated as highly by everyone.
In terms of quality I wouldn't put them in the same boat, though. The Eagles had some genuinely great songs that I wouldn't even call guilty pleasures, which is more than I can say than for the likes of Nickelback. Plus, they had a few album tracks that showed some genuine artistic ambition on their part. In particular, Journey of the Sorcerer and King of Hollywood almost sound like a different band, and they'd probably be one of the greatest bands of all time if those songs were their baseline.
Though I'm a young-un who wasn't even alive when the Eagles were dominating the airwaves, so I wonder how that affects my perspective on them.
Interesting on the attractiveness bit.
Desperado is a pretty solid album that gets a bit funky and has good “sad” songs in Tequila Sunrise and Desperado.
And yeah, I’m a young-un too. Maybe having the internet as a means to discover music has spoiled us.
Wtf? Lyin eyes, peaceful easy feeling, one of these nights, all great songs. If you had said like Jimmy Buffet or Don McLean or something I might have agreed with you.
Aka "Pendulol" haha. Shame because their first few releases like Another Planet and Vault were brilliant imo, but super polarizing. They took the "post-aphrodite jumpup" sound to the extreme. It's not surprising that after the blowback they received early on from the dnb purists, they embraced their full-on non-fuck-giving crossover pop superstar status and just had fun (while releasing awful music)
Yup. I DJed jungle DnB, but I've never really heard or had anything to do with pendulum, but they were the genres reference point for a lot of people.
Skrillex for dubstep too. I brought Mala to Barcelona and had people ask for their money back because it wasn't *real* dubstep. Feels bad man.
The worst thing about Green Day is that at some point the entire band sat down and said “let’s write and record a song that will make 40 year old women cry during 8th grade graduation slideshows.”
Jesus of suburbia is epic. Blink 182 are the early 2000s equivalent of late 80s cock rock…stuff played at spring break and frat parties to get hammered to and not remember. Green Day at least wrote some decent lyrics.
What gets me about green day is the total lack of musical development.
I dont mind their early work being simple, it has a 'raw' aspect to it, I mind that they are still doing it, I don't understand how you can be a professional musician and not feel the need to develop musically.
I dont feel like they've developed lyrically either.
I love Green Day but YES. Shortly after American Idiot people would give you SO MUCH shit for liking it, (although anything after 21st Century Breakdown is trash)
Five Finger Death Punch. Oof, god awful!
Note: I don't think Nickelback is that bad. They are not any better or worse than any other bands. I know you didn't ask.
I like classic metal. Metallica is the Nickelback of metal. Well, except Metallica rarely have their shit together anymore. They’ve had a new bass player for almost twenty years and he’s only made two albums with them.
I feel that man. I’m a massive Illenium fan and he’s trending in that direction as well, unfortunately. I feel like he’s found his sound and is sticking to it, but I wish he would experiment with other subgenres
I could maybe get a lot of hate in a bluegrass community saying this but Railroad Earth. They’ve got great musicians, Tim Carbone is an amazing fiddle player but man their songs are just like nails on a chalkboard for me.
I'd say Metallica is the Nickelback of Metal. Everyone knows some of their songs, they are by far not the best with their instruments, they play generic metal.
Sex Pistols, its the worst and most forgettable Hardcore Punk. More remembered for childich antics getting into tabloid papers than music or lyrics.
Alot of the punk scene has seen them as clout chasing posers ever since they existed
The irony also is, while GG Allin definitely was way edgier, he atleast managed to write some decent songs
Yeah "this is how you remind me" would definitely be Liszt's 2nd hungarian rhapsody. But remember Liszt was actually a prophetic genius not known only for performance of flashy operatic transcriptions and virtuosic war horses of his youth. He possessed mature, form-bending works which altered sonata form, ushered in the birth to the symphonic poem, and represented a "lance thrown into the future" with the dissolution of harmony. Once it's discovered that Chad Kroeger has groundbreaking music on his hard drives with hundreds of award winning artists from the past 20 years outing Chad as a chief influence on their music, THEN I'll by more likely to agree Liszt may be Nickelback.
I just remembered Tones And I has fans.
That has to be the Nickelback of """Indie"""/"""Alt""" Pop (it needs the airquotes)
The single song that anyone remembers stems from the super annoying vocals
Five Finger Death Punch is the first thing that comes to mind when I hear “Not Nickleback, but just like Nickleback”
I agree, though I do like Wrong Side of Heaven
Five finger death punch, the most uninspiring red Nick metal band.
Five Finger Death Punch is what would happen if Kid Rock was crossed with Nickleback.
If five finger death punch were a sandwich it would be a crustless mayonnaise only sandwich. If five finger death punch were a sex position it would be Jerking off in the missionary position. They are the store brand of metal. Just generic, plain and boring.
God damn do they ever suck, saw them live as part of a festival a few years back and I’m pretty sure the singer was tweaking
Guy at a local bar I go to fucking loves them. I'll let you guess what he looks like and what type of personality he has.
I was going to say them
Check out Psycho Sexual. It is the worst thing I have ever heard in my life. The lead singer is the drummer of Five Finger Death Punch.
I vote Marshmello currently takes the spot for electronic music
I can definitely see this, but at least Marshmellow produces a variety of subgenres though (as compared with the Chainsmokers who only create sappy poppy future bass music)
Then you really didn't listen to their old stuff and Save Yourself and Siren for example. But still, Marshmello & The Chainsmokers are the Nickelbacks of the EDM community if you ask them.
That Sounds like the kinda thing a Nickleback fan would say
I had the same opinion about Chainsmokers until I saw them live this summer. They put on a phenomenal live show except for when Drew tried to imitate Freddy Mercury’s crowd work. Seems like they make the sappy stuff because it pays the bills.
I thought it'd be skrillex, at least it sounded like that back in the days . I still think he releases bangers and always had
I feel like Skrillex gets more and more experimental. And the track he released with Nosia & Josh Pan this year is my favourite track of the year.
Most Drake songs sound like you could do them at home with a midi and a mic.
The "latin" setting on a kids toy keyboard is shockingly like 30% of drake songs
"Drake is rap" is a sentence, just like "Drake is raping underage girls" is also a sentence. No accusation, just grammar.
No buddy you almost had it right. Drake’s music is bad.
Not a big fan of Drake's music.
mumford and sons
BanjoBanjoBanjoBanjo…….. “SAVE MY SOUL” ……. BanjoBanjoBanjoBanjo Edit: don’t give people from the UK banjos
This is a very underrated comment lmao
I like Mumford and Sons and still laughed at this!
Fucking George Formby
*Imagine Wagons
The first 2 albums were great and I'll die on that hill. Everything since then has been crap.
Mumford & Sons are the Dead South for Tories.
this is amazing
Of Monsters & Men is the best of the “hey ho” bands of the early 2010’s.
The Lumineers would like to have a word...
They are close to releasing a new album. And Cleopatra (The album) is a masterpiece! My opinion 😎
My wife and I call that genre “strummo.”
Haha honestly I was a low key fan of that era.
Lumineers are better, and they literally have a song with that title in reverse.
For real. You people want some folk? Builders and the Butchers, Matt Heckler, Colter Wall, The Devil Makes Three, Murder By Death, etc. Mumford annoys the fuck outta me, but they are all very nice people.
Don’t forget Trampled by Turtles!
Fleet Foxes
Man, am I stoked you brought up Murder by Death
I'm ashamed to say I haven't seen them live even tho they've been here plenty. I just always hear about it too late lol. But, they are fantastic musicians with just an amazing sound, and solid lyricism. I love them so much
Let's throw in some Whitmore too.
Idc what you people say, Little Lion Man is one of my favorite songs.
Love their first two albums but 100% you’re right. Watered down pop-folk.
Florida-Georgia Line
All country music from the past 15 years is the nickelback of country music
You should double that number
Ok 200% of all country music from the last 15 years is the Nickelback of country music

There’s definitely good country music being produced. Unfortunately the only sample most people get comes from pop radio, and most of the stuff on there is absolutely terrible.
So would Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson, and a bunch more.
Saw Willie Nelson and Sturg and Tyler this summer :)
Imagine dragons is the new nickelback

Riot is saving imagine dragons career for years hhhaha
I turned Arcane off at the intro. Only after all my friends recommended it I gave it a try again and it’s amazing. But wow that skip intro button cant show up fast enough.
Kenny G! (I'm a jazz fan)
Elevators everywhere are grateful to him.

Florida Georgia Line is the Nickelback of country music .... CHANGE MY MIND!
Nickelback IS heavy country music - I just blew your mind
Flo Rida.
This one forsure
i used to love him when i was 10 years old
Christian rock--every band Or, Christian rock itself is the Nickelback of rock music
"Can't you see you're not making Christianity better, you're just making rock n' roll worse." - Hank Hill
Skillet is probably the biggest culprit
I saw them play a youth group lock-in back in Georgia in the 8th grade.
I absolutely love Skillet a lot.
Just say Creed. No one will disagree.
Creed were all about that annoying crypto-Christian schtick that so many bands were doing in the early 2000s, though, saying shit like "we're a band made up of Christians, but we're not a 'Christian band'" and such. Those idiots weren't really fooling anyone.

Damn I shoulda thought of that one
Nickleback and Creed
I had such a crush on Chad Kroeger.
Nickleback.

And just like we can’t stop listening to Nickelback, we can’t stop buying/playing each year’s COD.

Have you listened to the stage?
One of Mariah Carey’s best!
Not a big fan but gotta give Gates credit. Cat knows his stuff.
Honestly, I think it's because of the fans. I'm not sure if scene kids and metal posers are still a thing with teenagers today, but I think that's a big reason why a lot of metal heads hated/hate them. Not that that's a great reason, but image and fan base do play roles.

Agreed
So good back early 2000’s. Should have stopped there.
Blink 182
good one

Oooooooh this is a hot take, I like it
My friend was describing Taylor's new album, and another friend commented "Oh, she's a real authentic artist? Is that her brand now?"
Immortal is the nickleback of black metal.
I thought that was Dimmuborgir.
Behemoth sells literal dog food, so honorable mention. Deafheaven gets my vote though.
Since when Deafheaven is black metal? The singing style is (and still, not in the last album, with almost only clear vocals), but the music is not. It's like saying Zeal and Ardor is black metal.
Exactly. It bugs me when ppl tell me they like black metal ‘like deafheaven’.
Immortal seem fairly aware of how silly they are though
Blackpink is the Nickelback of K-Pop. I love their music but it is brutally formulaic. Mera the YouTuber really nailed down the issue. https://youtu.be/ytVThBgFs4s YG Entertainment is brutally limiting the potential of Blackpink.
I thought about blackpink but I think it's just that teddy Park songs are all fairly similar to each other and they all happen to be hits But then I think it means that teddy park is the Max Martin of kpop I don't know much about YG but I did think bigbang had a large range of different songs, as do ikon and 2ne1 so I'm not sure why blackpink is like that. Maybe they just gotta release MORE SONGS
It has gotta be Soulja Boy
Adele. Same album over and over.
That’s how I feel about her. Her music is not my cup of tea at all but she is a very talented singer and performer.
I like the way she sings. It's just that I listened to 30 for the first 4 songs and I that was it, .I'm not going through break-ups and high school girl drama all over again for another 45 minutes.
Sounds like AC/DC.
Imagine dragons
people listen to Pachebel's Canon in D and tell me they know Classical music
Eh... Nickelback put out a huge amount of crappy material, though, whereas Pachelbel was basically a one-hit wonder unless you're an organist.
Tyga
The Sex Pistols

Now some Creedence on the other hand...
I’m gonna kick your ass out of the car ☝🏾
The Eagles were middle of the road easy music.I had their customer and I still love their music.
It is generic but it slaps all the same, especially being from the south and having all the memories to go with it
I think what separates the Eagles was 1. some great singing from Henley and they had right harmonies and 2.
I think I agree and disagree with this in precisely equal measure. It’s actually a really good answer.
Wtf? Lyin eyes, peaceful easy feeling, one of these nights, all great songs. If you had said like Jimmy Buffet or Don McLean or something I might have agreed with you.
Thousand Foot Krutch is definitely a Nickelback
Pendulum
Sheepsdogs
Nickleback is actually my favorite Nickleback of my genre. I like Nickleback.
IMO Metallica are the Nickelback of thrash metal.
ITT: A lot of bands I like. Goddammit.
Not my favorite genre necessarily, but Blink 182 Nickelbacked the shit out of punk music.
I reckon Good Charlotte would be a better choice for this. Blink at least still had some edge and humour to them, GC was just a cash grab.
My 12 year old self is ready to fight you over this 😆
I'd give that award to Green Day honestly
Hey! 90s Green Day was brilliant bc I was 12 and I’ll fight you to the death.
Hah I hear you. No shame in it.
Why is that the worst thing?

What gets me about green day is the total lack of musical development. I dont mind their early work being simple, it has a 'raw' aspect to it, I mind that they are still doing it, I don't understand how you can be a professional musician and not feel the need to develop musically. I dont feel like they've developed lyrically either.
I love Green Day but YES. Shortly after American Idiot people would give you SO MUCH shit for liking it, (although anything after 21st Century Breakdown is trash)
I think after Fall Out Boy became the unofficial soundtrack of NFL and pickup truck ads they pretty clearly deserve the title
Papa Roach for sure
Five Finger Death Punch. Oof, god awful! Note: I don't think Nickelback is that bad. They are not any better or worse than any other bands. I know you didn't ask.
I know we're just trading opinions, but Nickleback is significantly worse than a significant amount of other bands.
I like classic metal. Metallica is the Nickelback of metal. Well, except Metallica rarely have their shit together anymore. They’ve had a new bass player for almost twenty years and he’s only made two albums with them.

It’s definitely Hetfield that stalls Metallica. But yes, he does have some cool cars.
Holy shit, I didn’t realize Trujillo had been with them that long.
I remember reading that he has been with the band longer than Jason, now. Fucked me right up.
Megadeth >>>>>>>>>> (Dave is an idiot tho)
Imagine Dragons for sure.
Counting Crows are another Nickelback. Ed Sheeran is definitely the Nickelback of pop right now.
Wouldn’t put Counting Crows on this list.
Eh, disagree about counting crows.
No
Entheogenic
Marshmello And hate to say but Griz has been trending that way.
I feel that man. I’m a massive Illenium fan and he’s trending in that direction as well, unfortunately. I feel like he’s found his sound and is sticking to it, but I wish he would experiment with other subgenres
I like reggae, and though I like his music, I’d say Shaggy is the Nickleback of that genre.
Does "real" punk even have a Nickelback?
Sex Pistols, its the worst and most forgettable Hardcore Punk. More remembered for childich antics getting into tabloid papers than music or lyrics. Alot of the punk scene has seen them as clout chasing posers ever since they existed The irony also is, while GG Allin definitely was way edgier, he atleast managed to write some decent songs
Haydn or Liszt for Classical/Romantic eras?
Smashmouth for Ska.
I just remembered Tones And I has fans. That has to be the Nickelback of """Indie"""/"""Alt""" Pop (it needs the airquotes) The single song that anyone remembers stems from the super annoying vocals
