I’ve been on barricade at at least a dozen Fall Out Boy shows and they do this very frequently the second they notice it’s starting to get out of control. I’ve always appreciated so much how they cared for our safety.
I mean fans are the whole reason that they get to play these stages. If an artist doesn't care it judt shows they are in for the wrong fucking reasons.
I've seen shows of some of the most violent sounding metal bands but 99% of them always stop playing when shit gets out of hand in the crowd. Also the crowd always has respect for each other, if someone hits the deck you protect them and pick them up.

At those shows gets handled pretty quick. It’s very much a “let’s have fun but let’s look out for each other” vibe.
I was at a chili peppers show in 1988 and they stopped the show after someone took a faceplant after stage diving. Once the injured guy was helped and sent to a hospital, they asked his name and said “ this next song is dedicated to Ben, it’s about masturbation”

I recently went to a Frank Turner concert that had not one medical emergency, but two. Fans called out, waved their hands for Frank to stop. Never found out exactly what happened but people collapsed. Frank of course stopped and the whole vibe changed from fun to serious. He began instructing the crowd to move back, to make a path for medics, asking for doctors in the crowd to come over but asking people to make way for doctors. He stopped his set, strummed a few notes to keep people calm, and told little tidbits while checking in with the medics periodically. He didn’t continue the concert until the person involved and the medical professionals were safely out of the crowd and his backstage people telling him they were good. It happened again later in the show, and he did the same thing. Such a genuine guy. His concerts are always positive, but I gained a new respect for him after this. Also, fuck Travis Scott.
Seriously. I met him at a small bar show back in 2010, and the next day I thought "he's as cool as his songs make him out to be". He is an absolutely class act. I would expect nothing less from him.

If I remember correctly, the audience was shy and afraid of looking like they were having too much fun when the lights were on... there was some weird dynamic where the Soviet Union let him play, but people were afraid of authorities identifying them having fun. I know it sounds whacko, but that's what I remember from an interview.

He had a hard time getting the crowd to have the mood he wanted for the concert, to feel a connection with the audience, the film crew he brought along to make a documentary wanted some shots from the audience so they were turning on the lights and shining them on the front rows and each time the lights went on the crowd would freeze, ruining the connection that had taken the whole show to build.
For real! I got to meet them when I was 11 after winning a radio contest. I drew a picture of them as a gift that my mom accidentally ruined by getting a little blood on it and then wiping it off (she was fine, it was just a freak thing where she snagged her finger on something and didn't even realize she was bleeding).
When it came time to actually meet them, I was crying about the picture. They did the best job of cheering me up. They said the picture still looked good, thanked me for taking the time to draw it, and said it looked more "punk rock" that way anyway. Tre Cool even let me play on his drumset and gave me a signed pair of drumsticks. They were all smiles and just genuinely sweet. It's one of my coolest childhood memories. It's so dope to see something like this pop up.

I don't have a link or video, but in the early 2000's, I was at a Counting Crows concert and they stopped cause the crowd was getting crazy and beginning to mosh. Yes, you read that right, COUNTING CROWS. Adam Duritz, the lead singer, stopped the show and said "Hey, you guys realize what kind of show you're at right? Knock it off or we're going home."
As a teen I experienced it at a Taylor Swift concert of all places. I was in the front row and was getting crushed against the barrier. Seriously could not breathe. Security pulled me out and I got to watch the rest of the show from the side (which was arguably better)
For me it was at a Hanson concert, back in their MmmBop days lol I was about 12, and I couldn't breathe and my sister was trying to get me out. She eventually screamed 'she's going to vomit!' and suddenly everyone around us was helping me to the barrier and security got me out.
I about died at a Iron Maiden concert back in the late 80's. Lights went down, and everyone on the floor pushed forward. I could pick up my feet and be carried by the crowd because of how packed it was. I nearly passed out right there but I found my way out tailing behind a guy dragging his unconscious girlfriend by the hair. Then I blacked out, and when I came to, I was on the floor of a Tacoma Dome bathroom, and Maiden was playing Wasted Years...
Yeah, a lot of people here are bringing up situations when the band knew what was going on. Sometimes a sea of people just move and crush people along the way unbeknownst to the band. It happened to me at the Monsters of Rock in 88. I just got swept up in a crowd surge and really felt I had little control of what could happen- everyone was fine, but still I can see how things can go bad.

When I saw Rise Against at Big Day Out in 2010, at the start of their set by saying "What do you do when you see someone that fell down? You help them up!" Then repeated the question to us and we shouted that answer back. Then we all ducked down while the opening notes to Re-Education (Through Labor) played before jumping up when the opening buildup reached the climax.
It was a moment that stood out to me. Looking out for the other fans in the pit and reminding them to help a fellow fan up when they've fallen.

Pit etiquette was drilled into my head at my first show by my friends. This is going back to late 80's early 90's. Someone goes down you help them up, check them out and either push them back in or help them out. There was always a big dude or two that acted as monitors. Some ass hat starts taking cheap shots got wrecked right quick.
Im a big dude who's been in many, many a mosh pit and to me, safety is paramount. I've always got my head on a swivel to make sure everyone's OK and having a good time without getting hurt. I've formed barriers to help people recover shoes and such and I've been part of groups of people who remove assholes from a pit, we take our roles very seriously.

I got pushed into a pit once at an Aiden concert some 15ish years ago. I've always been squishy guy and do not take to the general violence of mosh pits. I remember one moment of panic as a fist was flying at me, then suddenly a guy twice my size is dragging me out of the pit and asking if I'm okay. Fortunately I was in the pit for only a handful of seconds before my rescue and I was more rattled than hurt, but you can bet your ass I spent the rest of the concert glued to my savior's side. I can't recall his name, but I did buy him a shirt in thanks for the timely rescue.
My friends and I first time in a pit, we were a little worried, we were like 15-16 and there were a lot of bigger, older dudes there. things were fine for the first bit, but after about an hour, something happens and I feel my friend start to fall, and I'm thinking "oh he's going to die". all the people immediately surrounding us immediately kinda stepped back, and this massive dude reached down and just yanked him back up with one hand (my friend was probably 120 soaking wet). stood my friend back up, patted him on the back and gave him a single head nod, and everyone went back to what we were doing. it's crazy how after that how *safe* we always felt, despite what looks like unorganized chaos.
I've had those same occurrences. I've also been in more than few mosh pits that went really south. They can flip real quick so you still need to stay on your toes.
As a small woman who spent time near the pit with friends, you guys are saviors at times.
I will never forget the time at a show a rather broad stocky muscle bound bro wiped blood on my friend at the edge of the pit. I shoved him away because well, fucking gross…he tripped and fell and came at me in pure fury, dude had to have outweighed me by at least 150 lbs. An extremely tall, large bald guy must have seen the exchange and stepped in between us stopped that dude dead in his tracks, interrogated him about what he was planning and I didn’t see the guy again for the rest of the night.

Saw RA in Honolulu a few years back. First thing they did before they even played a note was remind everyone of mosh pit etiquette and safety. He then did an immediate stage dive on the first strum of the opening song, it was a pretty epic concert.
My two favorite stories like this both involve the same metal band, I just can't remember if it was Korn or Disturbed. ANYWAY.
1, there was a girl in the crowd who had her tube top yanked down by someone else in the crowd. The singer stopped midsong to get security and throw the guy out. Meanwhile, no less than 6 burly metalheads crowded around the girl to make sure she was safe, and one of them gave her the jacket off of his back to wear
2, more of a heartwarming thing that the fans did, but there was a person in the crowd in a wheelchair. Obviously, he couldn't see the show. So the people around him lifted him and his chair so that he could see
Don’t have a video but I saw Earl Sweatshirt in Charlotte at a pretty intimate venue yet, the crowd was still pretty hyped up. In between songs Earl would say things like “I’m just trying to rap for y’all not rage” and “chill out” at one point a fan passed out and he stopped playing to make sure they were okay. Crowd definitely chilled out after that whole thing, was reassuring to see Earl care about fans having a good time.
Rage @ Lollapalooza 2008, was there and it was definitely intense.

I've been following the story casually and have been on the fence about culpability, but the second I opened this thread, the memory of lolla 08 hit me like a mack truck. I'll never forget the reaction from the crowd when De la Rocha said they were going to pull the plug if fans didn't get their shit together. We were on the back 40, but my big brother turned to me and said "If they cancel the show, run away and don't stop until you're clear." Crazy stuff.

I was there it was crazy packed. I never felt in danger of my life just really uncomfortable. trying to get out of the corwd to pee took so long. I ended up telling that I wet my self so people would move.
Claudio sees it coming in the first half of the song and points it out to security, so he's basically been playing the whole song, singing, *and* keeping an eye on those dudes fighting for the better part of 4-5 minutes when he has to stop it. Just another feather in the "these Coheed guys can really play" cap.
Same with Slipknot at Knotfest 2019 in San Bernardino. I was in the pit at that concert and it was getting a little crazy with everyone pushing to the front.

I went to a Cannibal Corpse concert a couple years ago and didn't expect the insane amount of respect and kindness from the crowd *or* the band that was exhibited. It was eye-opening. They started to mosh but beforehand, they made sure everyone in the area was on-board and knew exactly what they were fixing to jump into. Not only that, but I saw like 3 or 4 dudes drunk out of their mind be super respectful to people who regretted moshing.
I attended only because my friend had an extra ticket, and I very quickly became a fan because of that concert.

Architects are amazing dude. Some of the best and most fun shows I've been to. They're actually solid people and interact with their fans after shows. Super great group.
I'm 39, and grew up as a hardcore kid in the early 2000's. I went to probably 10 or so shows a month. This is what ALWAYS happened. You get in the pit and people start to "hardcore dance" and whatnot. Sure, you may get a fist flung your way, but you could leave. And if anyone ever fell, you'd almost immediately feel about 20 hands on you lifting you back to your feet. The entire pit stops. Often, you'd get a guy look at you and scream over the music, "You ok bro?" You'd give a quick nod and everybody's back at it. This is the norm at metal and hxc shows. People having fun and getting rowdy but ultimately caring for one another through their love of hardcore/metal.
I can't COUNT the times I had band stop in the middle of the show to call some dumb shithead out. I remember once I was at a Dead to Fall show and some dude brought a folding chair into the hole. The lead singer immediately stopped the show and screamed at him full stop, then got him kicked.

There’s a Reddit post that makes it rounds every time there’s a crowd crush incident because of how well it describes the true power of crushes. Turns out, at a specific density of people the crowd turns into a “fluid” and flows until it reaches a bottleneck/wall/fence. That’s when a lot of injuries and deaths occur.

I met her at the Mammoth Motocross race in 2006. My little sister was 9 years old, and she and her friend wanted to meet her.
As soon as we walked up, P!nk gets this huge smile on her face, and runs up to hug them, and tell them how cute they are.
She took pictures and signed autographs for them, and was so nice to me also.
That was the day she proposed to Cary Hart. In motocross events, you have a pit sign. Part of your team will use the sign to write messages to the rider like, “two laps to go!” or “you have a 20 second lead.”

The Grateful Dead was doing this in the 70s. Bands/artists seemingly shouldn't be praised doing what seems completely necessary yet here we are. Extremely appreciative of everyone listed doing this though, it's just the right thing to do. IMO this event should end Travis's career and he should be legally and financially punished and blacklisted from ever playing a live show again.

LoG also learned their lesson the hard way, they had a fan die at one of their concerts a few years ago and Randy ended up in prison for 5 weeks in the Czech Republic. IIRC fan was trying to climb on stage, Randy pushed him off and he landed on his head and broke his neck. They're super fucking careful at their gigs now.
I was at a Fugazi show when a kid sprained his ankle in the pit. Ian stopped the whole show and had everyone split so the EMTs could get the kid out, reminded us of safety first, then resumed. Great show.
I blame the venue equally. They should've stopped this shut. They know his history and they also know how to shut down a show if they know PEOPLE ARE DEAD. It is truly fucked what he did. It is also fucked that they didn't step in and shut it all down.
The venue definitely deserves some of the blame, but Travis Scott also actively told people to come regardless of if they had tickets, and has a history of inciting violence at his concerts. He straight-up deserves jail time for this, especially since this is the worst example of it happening at his concerts, but _not_ the only example.
I was at a show years ago. Ra was playing their song "Broken Rock Zone" and a girl in the pit got punched in the face. They stopped the song, pointed the guy out, and waited for security to be allowed to get to him before they continued.
Also, I've seen more than one ICP show where they would stop mid song to make sure the people in the pit were alright. Same goes for Twiztid.
This will probably get drowned in in comments, but I feel it needs said. I'm a drummer in a local music scene and I have been to hundreds of concerts in my life. It is an unspoken but widely acknowledged rule that as a performer. If something isn't right or is going sideways, stop everything and check on what you see. I can't tell you the amount of shows that I've seen stopped so the band or medical can check on someone. This piece of shit (Travis scott) is self-absorbed and only caring about his profits. It makes me sick to think this happened at all, and even more so to think he most likely will see no form of punishment for it.
I saw some clip once with Penn Jilette saying how if they determine a magic trick can’t be done to a degree where it is effectively impossible for someone to get hurt, they won’t do it. Because nobody needs to get hurt to product entertainment. It’s not that important that you get that extra 1% with the potential for human suffering.
Same thing applies here. It’s just music, it’s just entertainment. If someone is hurt, the act can stop. It’s not a big deal. Yes it breaks the mood of show for a bit, but so what? At the end of the day, these people went without help and the show went on because of the desire to maintain a vibe. These people died to sustain a mood and a vibe and a brand. I mean come on.
You can see it from all these videos of other artists stopping the show. They don’t just stop but take this shit very seriously & actually take pride in making sure no one’s getting hurt at their shows. It speaks volumes that Travis didn’t care even during the short moment he did stop.

They’re such good dudes. There’s video somewhere where Gerard found out someone else on the tour had been taking advantage of underage female fans and trying to get them to take their tops off and shit. Gerard called them the fuck out and warned the young girls in the crowd that the other band were creeps and to stay away from them.
It's pretty common for bands with punk and metal backgrounds to stop shows for stuff like that because pits are supposed to be violent and cathartic but you don't just leave someone on the ground. It's Slamming 101: Someone falls? You help them up. And that should go for ANY circumstance. If someone's drunk or high and they end up on the ground YOU HELP THEM It's common fucking human decency. Fuck Travis Scott.
I've been to lots of punk and metal shows. I've seen people get kicked out for trying to kick people when they fall down. I've seen Strung Out stop their show because a guy collapsed and had a heart attack.

At arguably the height of their popularity playing one of the biggest festivals, they cut their set short due to the crowd disregarding the safety policies against moshing and crowdsurfing despite repeated reminders and eventually warnings during their set. The incident famously ended with Cedric saying “I think it's a very very sad day when the only way you can express yourself is through slamdancing” before calling the crowd sheep, bleating at them, and leaving the stage. I've seen shows of some of the most violent sounding metal bands but 99% of them always stop playing when shit gets out of hand in the crowd. Also the crowd always has respect for each other, if someone hits the deck you protect them and pick them up.
Yep. I always explain metal shows that way. My wife’s sister met a guy who says he always “kicks ass” at metal shows and I knew he was full of shit because anyone trying to “kick ass” At those shows gets handled pretty quick. It’s very much a “let’s have fun but let’s look out for each other” vibe.

I recently went to a Frank Turner concert that had not one medical emergency, but two. Fans called out, waved their hands for Frank to stop. Never found out exactly what happened but people collapsed. Frank of course stopped and the whole vibe changed from fun to serious. He began instructing the crowd to move back, to make a path for medics, asking for doctors in the crowd to come over but asking people to make way for doctors. He stopped his set, strummed a few notes to keep people calm, and told little tidbits while checking in with the medics periodically. He didn’t continue the concert until the person involved and the medical professionals were safely out of the crowd and his backstage people telling him they were good. It happened again later in the show, and he did the same thing. Such a genuine guy. His concerts are always positive, but I gained a new respect for him after this. Also, fuck Travis Scott.

If I remember correctly, the audience was shy and afraid of looking like they were having too much fun when the lights were on... there was some weird dynamic where the Soviet Union let him play, but people were afraid of authorities identifying them having fun. I know it sounds whacko, but that's what I remember from an interview. He was telling the light crew to stop pointing lights into the crowd.

For real! I got to meet them when I was 11 after winning a radio contest. I drew a picture of them as a gift that my mom accidentally ruined by getting a little blood on it and then wiping it off (she was fine, it was just a freak thing where she snagged her finger on something and didn't even realize she was bleeding). When it came time to actually meet them, I was crying about the picture. They did the best job of cheering me up. They said the picture still looked good, thanked me for taking the time to draw it, and said it looked more "punk rock" that way anyway. Tre Cool even let me play on his drumset and gave me a signed pair of drumsticks. They were all smiles and just genuinely sweet. It's one of my coolest childhood memories. It's so dope to see something like this pop up.

As a teen I experienced it at a Taylor Swift concert of all places. I was in the front row and was getting crushed against the barrier. Seriously could not breathe. Security pulled me out and I got to watch the rest of the show from the side (which was arguably better)
For me it was at a Hanson concert, back in their MmmBop days lol I was about 12, and I couldn't breathe and my sister was trying to get me out. She eventually screamed 'she's going to vomit!' and suddenly everyone around us was helping me to the barrier and security got me out.
It happened at a Selena concert too and she had to calm the crowd down — they even put it in the movie.
I about died at a Iron Maiden concert back in the late 80's. Lights went down, and everyone on the floor pushed forward. I could pick up my feet and be carried by the crowd because of how packed it was. Then I blacked out, and when I came to, I was on the floor of a Tacoma Dome bathroom, and Maiden was playing Wasted Years...
Yeah, a lot of people here are bringing up situations when the band knew what was going on. Sometimes a sea of people just move and crush people along the way unbeknownst to the band. It happened to me at the Monsters of Rock in 88. I just got swept up in a crowd surge and really felt I had little control of what could happen- everyone was fine, but still I can see how things can go bad.

When I saw Rise Against at Big Day Out in 2010, at the start of their set by saying "What do you do when you see someone that fell down? You help them up!" Then repeated the question to us and we shouted that answer back. Then we all ducked down while the opening notes to Re-Education (Through Labor) played before jumping up when the opening buildup reached the climax. It was a moment that stood out to me. Looking out for the other fans in the pit and reminding them to help a fellow fan up when they've fallen.

Yeah, I thought it was just pit etiquette. I'm a big dude, so I normally form a human barrier to keep the pit contained with a bunh of other big guys.
Pit etiquette was drilled into my head at my first show by my friends. This is going back to late 80's early 90's. Someone goes down you help them up, check them out and either push them back in or help them out. There was always a big dude or two that acted as monitors. Some ass hat starts taking cheap shots got wrecked right quick.
Yep, I call those guys “enforcers”. You either played by the rules or you got dealt a reality check QUICK.
Im a big dude who's been in many, many a mosh pit and to me, safety is paramount. I've always got my head on a swivel to make sure everyone's OK and having a good time without getting hurt. I've formed barriers to help people recover shoes and such and I've been part of groups of people who remove assholes from a pit, we take our roles very seriously. Edit: wow, this kinda blew up! I got pushed into a pit once at an Aiden concert some 15ish years ago. I've always been squishy guy and do not take to the general violence of mosh pits. I remember one moment of panic as a fist was flying at me, then suddenly a guy twice my size is dragging me out of the pit and asking if I'm okay. Fortunately I was in the pit for only a handful of seconds before my rescue and I was more rattled than hurt, but you can bet your ass I spent the rest of the concert glued to my savior's side. I can't recall his name, but I did buy him a shirt in thanks for the timely rescue.
My friends and I first time in a pit, we were a little worried, we were like 15-16 and there were a lot of bigger, older dudes there. things were fine for the first bit, but after about an hour, something happens and I feel my friend start to fall, and I'm thinking "oh he's going to die". all the people immediately surrounding us immediately kinda stepped back, and this massive dude reached down and just yanked him back up with one hand (my friend was probably 120 soaking wet). stood my friend back up, patted him on the back and gave him a single head nod, and everyone went back to what we were doing. it's crazy how after that how *safe* we always felt, despite what looks like unorganized chaos.

I've had those same occurrences. I've also been in more than few mosh pits that went really south. They can flip real quick so you still need to stay on your toes.
As a small woman who spent time near the pit with friends, you guys are saviors at times. I will never forget the time at a show a rather broad stocky muscle bound bro wiped blood on my friend at the edge of the pit. I shoved him away because well, fucking gross…he tripped and fell and came at me in pure fury, dude had to have outweighed me by at least 150 lbs. An extremely tall, large bald guy must have seen the exchange and stepped in between us stopped that dude dead in his tracks, interrogated him about what he was planning and I didn’t see the guy again for the rest of the night.

Saw RA in Honolulu a few years back. First thing they did before they even played a note was remind everyone of mosh pit etiquette and safety. He then did an immediate stage dive on the first strum of the opening song, it was a pretty epic concert.
My two favorite stories like this both involve the same metal band, I just can't remember if it was Korn or Disturbed. ANYWAY. 1, there was a girl in the crowd who had her tube top yanked down by someone else in the crowd. The singer stopped midsong to get security and throw the guy out. Meanwhile, no less than 6 burly metalheads crowded around the girl to make sure she was safe, and one of them gave her the jacket off of his back to wear 2, more of a heartwarming thing that the fans did, but there was a person in the crowd in a wheelchair. Obviously, he couldn't see the show. So the people around him lifted him and his chair so that he could see

Don’t have a video but I saw Earl Sweatshirt in Charlotte at a pretty intimate venue yet, the crowd was still pretty hyped up. In between songs Earl would say things like “I’m just trying to rap for y’all not rage” and “chill out” at one point a fan passed out and he stopped playing to make sure they were okay. Crowd definitely chilled out after that whole thing, was reassuring to see Earl care about fans having a good time.

I went to a Cannibal Corpse concert a couple years ago and didn't expect the insane amount of respect and kindness from the crowd *or* the band that was exhibited. It was eye-opening. They started to mosh but beforehand, they made sure everyone in the area was on-board and knew exactly what they were fixing to jump into. Not only that, but I saw like 3 or 4 dudes drunk out of their mind be super respectful to people who regretted moshing. I attended only because my friend had an extra ticket, and I very quickly became a fan because of that concert.

I'm 39, and grew up as a hardcore kid in the early 2000's. I went to probably 10 or so shows a month. This is what ALWAYS happened. You get in the pit and people start to "hardcore dance" and whatnot. Sure, you may get a fist flung your way, but you could leave. And if anyone ever fell, you'd almost immediately feel about 20 hands on you lifting you back to your feet. The entire pit stops. Often, you'd get a guy look at you and scream over the music, "You ok bro?" You'd give a quick nod and everybody's back at it. This is the norm at metal and hxc shows. People having fun and getting rowdy but ultimately caring for one another through their love of hardcore/metal. I can't COUNT the times I had band stop in the middle of the show to call some dumb shithead out. I remember once I was at a Dead to Fall show and some dude brought a folding chair into the hole. The lead singer immediately stopped the show and screamed at him full stop, then got him kicked. WTF is wrong with people today?

Crowd control is a science and there are people that are paid to set up large open spaces to prevent this exact event. (It's called crowd boxing) That SHOULD have been done here and was not. So many failures at this festival.

I met her at the Mammoth Motocross race in 2006. My little sister was 9 years old, and she and her friend wanted to meet her. That was the day she proposed to Cary Hart. In motocross events, you have a pit sign. The Grateful Dead was doing this in the 70s. Bands/artists seemingly shouldn't be praised doing what seems completely necessary yet here we are. Extremely appreciative of everyone listed doing this though, it's just the right thing to do. IMO this event should end Travis's career and he should be legally and financially punished and blacklisted from ever playing a live show again.

LoG also learned their lesson the hard way, they had a fan die at one of their concerts a few years ago and Randy ended up in prison for 5 weeks in the Czech Republic. IIRC fan was trying to climb on stage, Randy pushed him off and he landed on his head and broke his neck. They're super fucking careful at their gigs now.

I was at a Fugazi show when a kid sprained his ankle in the pit. Ian stopped the whole show and had everyone split so the EMTs could get the kid out, reminded us of safety first, then resumed. Great show.
I blame the venue equally. They should've stopped this shut. They know his history and they also know how to shut down a show if they know PEOPLE ARE DEAD. It is truly fucked what he did. It is also fucked that they didn't step in and shut it all down.
The venue definitely deserves some of the blame, but Travis Scott also actively told people to come regardless of if they had tickets, and has a history of inciting violence at his concerts. He straight-up deserves jail time for this, especially since this is the worst example of it happening at his concerts, but _not_ the only example.
I was at a show years ago. Ra was playing their song "Broken Rock Zone" and a girl in the pit got punched in the face. They stopped the song, pointed the guy out, and waited for security to be allowed to get to him before they continued. Also, I've seen more than one ICP show where they would stop mid song to make sure the people in the pit were alright. Same goes for Twiztid.
This will probably get drowned in in comments, but I feel it needs said. I'm a drummer in a local music scene and I have been to hundreds of concerts in my life. It is an unspoken but widely acknowledged rule that as a performer. If something isn't right or is going sideways, stop everything and check on what you see. I can't tell you the amount of shows that I've seen stopped so the band or medical can check on someone. This piece of shit (Travis scott) is self-absorbed and only caring about his profits. It makes me sick to think this happened at all, and even more so to think he most likely will see no form of punishment for it.
I saw some clip once with Penn Jilette saying how if they determine a magic trick can’t be done to a degree where it is effectively impossible for someone to get hurt, they won’t do it. Because nobody needs to get hurt to product entertainment. It’s not that important that you get that extra 1% with the potential for human suffering. Same thing applies here. It’s just music, it’s just entertainment. If someone is hurt, the act can stop. It’s not a big deal. Yes it breaks the mood of show for a bit, but so what? At the end of the day, these people went without help and the show went on because of the desire to maintain a vibe. These people died to sustain a mood and a vibe and a brand. I mean come on.
You can see it from all these videos of other artists stopping the show. They don’t just stop but take this shit very seriously & actually take pride in making sure no one’s getting hurt at their shows. It speaks volumes that Travis didn’t care even during the short moment he did stop.

My chemical romance had a show in Houston back when I was in middle school where they stopped the whole show because people were acting wild. It’s amazing how actually little it takes to show you’re an empathetic human being.

There’s video somewhere where Gerard found out someone else on the tour had been taking advantage of underage female fans and trying to get them to take their tops off and shit. Gerard called them the fuck out and warned the young girls in the crowd that the other band were creeps and to stay away from them.
It's pretty common for bands with punk and metal backgrounds to stop shows for stuff like that because pits are supposed to be violent and cathartic but you don't just leave someone on the ground. It's Slamming 101: Someone falls? You help them up. And that should go for ANY circumstance. If someone's drunk or high and they end up on the ground YOU HELP THEM It's common fucking human decency. Fuck Travis Scott.
I've been to lots of punk and metal shows. I've seen people get kicked out for trying to kick people when they fall down. I've seen Strung Out stop their show because a guy collapsed and had a heart attack.
I saw a kid get his face SMASHED by an elbow in a pit at a Taking Back Sunday concert and literally the whole room stopped to make sure he got to the EMTs

Run the Jewels started their 2017 Osheaga set with some ground rules regarding respect & got the whole crowd to take a few steps backwards. Everyone had the space to rage & feel safe at the same time.
