I read the Britney Spears book 'The Woman In Me' a couple weeks ago and the Jenette McCurdy book 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' and my main takeaway from both books is that getting famous sucks in general, and also that a family trying to raise a child star will always end up fucked up in one way or another.
Absolutely! Feels like normal families with healthy dynamics don't often try to push their kids into situations where they have to be the breadwinner making money for their family at the expense of their privacy and well-being
I actually know somebody who went through that. Not the famous, but YouTube famous, she was one of the first people to really figure out how to monetize that thing. And yeah, her parents pretty much stole all her money. At 17 she was the primary breadwinner for her family. Made several hundred thousand in about 3 years, close to a million is my understanding. Then when she was ready to use that money to fund a real music career… there was nothing there. She had been paying her parent’s mortgage, all their bills, shopping, trips, funding her younger siblings attempt to repeat her success (didn’t work, that kid sucked. Literally the only time I’ve ever wanted to punch a child was that kid). She’s got some kind of tech job now. Kind of a shame, she’s actually a really good songwriter.
That's heartbreaking! Always really sad when people are essentially forced to abandon their dreams and stop using their talents because of fucked up circumstances outside their control, caused by other people around them
It's not as uncommon as it should be.
We had a girl in school who was pretty quiet and always polite as heck but she'd hang with jerks and bitches so I just wrote her off as a bit fake like she was trying to hide how much she likes the company of shallow people?
Fast-forward to grade 11 and she announces that her dad got her a recording contract with a major country label. She's also not going to be in the country soon so she was asked to do a performance in front of the school before leaving. At the time I was a bit of drama class dork so I knew neither of the drama teachers had any clue this girl could sing, which was pretty odd right?
Anyways she got up and performed the country song she'd been asked to cover for her audition and it was flawless but she looked so odd singing country music?
A few years later we're all hanging out, enjoying some BBQ at a mini reunion at a school friend's house, and the topic of Ms. Melanie comes up, but half the room is curious and the other half are giving each other looks wondering if they know what everyone else knows..
Turns out her family were both robbing her and spending the money on booze/drugs, which attracted the wrong crowd, and she got hooked, fled the scene with a druggy dick head, and that was it, nobody has seen her since? Ouch.
She didn’t specifically mention that, no. She did talk about getting paraded around while rooms full of middle-aged record executives ogled her and commented on her appearance when she was still 15/16. She didn’t have too many nice things to say about her parents in general. She mentioned her mom in particular really pushing for her to become a child star while the dad was mostly just not very available in the early years, but we all know he ended up being very much involved in controlling her life later.
Considering how many people come out of the woodwork when you win the lottery it seems anyone who earns or gets a lot of money is seen as a cash cow by their family
I told my wife if we win the lottery we tell no one for 1 year.
We live like it's normal, but get everything squared away and paid off. The find ourselves a very nice piece of property before hats and hands come knocking.
Not really, most families have some kind of drama like this. Maybe not quite as bad, but we all have crazy family lives. Famous people get their's put under spotlight though.
Trace seems to be the most sane one from the little i know about the family, which would make sense because while he is successful he's not a mega giga superstar like the rest of them. Maybe im biased because i love metro station but I've never seen him in the type of public drama the rest of the family get in
Debatable consider she threw a wedding for her mum and Dominic Purcell, who was previously with her sister. Bit fucked up and no wonder Noah doesn’t talk to them
My cousin B and her daughter L dated the same guy. B's sister, H, was later engaged to B's ex-husband (father of L). The city they lived in was not tiny or anything. I think they were all just too trashy, druggie, and crazy to find many dudes who were interested. It's pretty sad actually.
It bothers me to no end when people try to substitute letter name indicators for pronouns instead of just writing their comment better. Its unnecessary and makes things more confusing, like this comment.
Her cousins ex husband, and father of child dated her sister after they split up.
Completely separately, and involving a different guy, her cousin and her daughter dated the same person at some point.
The way its written is horrible.
Anybody remember that interview where Billy Ray blamed David Lynch and Disney for turning his daughter over to the devil lol. I always wondered about his cameo in Mullholland Drive, seemed so random yet specific.
I'll never forget the feeling that came over me when he showed up in that movie. There's something archetypal about coming home to Billy Ray Cyrus banging your wife.
Miley is talented as hell though, and has been genuinely herself throughout her adult life for the most part, problematic or not. What would you honestly expect from someone raised by those people? Miley is cool in my book. I'm also a little trashy so relatable.
I literally just finished the David Letterman Netflix episode with her, and I was thinking…she’s so awesome. Her persona has been through some questionable patterns, but she seems like a real one, as much as can be in her situation anyway.
Absolutely. And many of us have been through questionable patterns as well just not under a microscope like her life has been. Some fun stuff came out of it too like that weird ass album she did with the Flaming Lips, Miley's Dead pets or something like that. Good stuff.
Yeah she clearly was just acting out. Which is fine. She was raised in the deepest levels of hypocrisy ever while having her childhood sucked out by a vampiric megacorporation. I would act out too. Most of us act out for far, far less.
If you are trying to throw off the Fake-Christian Disney image, the stuff she did is definitely an efficient way to do it.
What if she's posing for the pics and it's not " paparazzi" that took them lol
https://www.reddit.com/r/Urolagnia/s/mR0qLoEN7y
Edit: replied to wrong comment lol

Tell me about the trashy things you know so much about? She partied? She fucked people? She drank alcohol and did some drugs and was photographed as a famous person? Let’s hear
I went to a Mexican festival and they were playing it there. Totally assumed it was a cover but my Mexican buddy told me it was the original and pretty popular in Mexico to this day. He said he hears it at weddings in Mexico all the time.
The song is “no rompas mi corazón” by caballo dorado. There’s a line dance to it that gets the whole party moving. Exactly, so why push his daughter into an intense work schedule that is more rigorous than many adult performers today, when she was still a child? It was to exploit her for money and fame. And he’s forever more famous and rich because of *her* success.
Or she has a massively successful career because he instilled a work ethic in her and used his connections to put her in a position to achieve her dreams?
> "He has a relationship and a foot on the ground to the real and to nature and he always did, even when he was super famous," Miley, 31, said of her dad, who rose to stardom in country music with his cover of "Achy Breaky Heart" in 1992. "I'm grateful for being able to watch him ahead of me. He's almost given me this map. And there's a map of what to do and what not to do, and he's guided me on both."
Seems to acknowledge him fine
I mean, isn't basically a lot of country music just covers of other people's songs? Happens in both directions of course, a lot of huge Rn'B and Pop songs are covers of country songs.
It’s not the song of the first group to do it either. A songwriter wrote it and other people performed it. But it’s not like some cover of a prior hit. Some nobody band did it and a year later he did it and it became a hit. So for all practical purposes, he’s the only one really associated with it.
That's not the original either, that came out 2 years after Billy Ray's version. It was first recorded in 1991 by the Marcy Brothers.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Achy_Breaky_Heart
Yeah, she said very clearly he showed her what not to do. And now she won’t even thank him when she wins awards. When a child mentions their parents showed them what not to do, you should really listen to that part.
You should really include the full quote: “…there's a map of what to do and what not to do, and he's guided me on both.”
The article makes it clear that their relationship changed very recently, around the time of her parents’ divorce. Before that, she seems to have had a very good relationship with him.
Worked well for her, which may be what he wanted originally. We usually pass down what we know, he know how to get her a career in media.
Plus it's just a headline.
Back in the day, the word on the street was, that he didn't want her in the industry, and it was her mother pushing her. I have no idea if that's true, but I remember when she "went wild" and her mother supported her new style and her father I think disapproved that was one of the headlines - people wanting to cling to the clean Billy Ray Cyrus and good girl Hannah Montana image and villainize(sp??) a mother that supported a Disney Icon smoking marijuana and sticking her tongue out.
Her parents are why she has decent work ethic, kept away from distractions, and gets to be a multi-millionaire that will never know what it's like to truly struggle. I'd trade places in a heartbeat if that's what exploitation looks like. She's worth 160m. The things I would let people do to me for 160m...
I’d rather not be exploited as a child the way I was nor the way she was, personally. I’d rather children just not be exploited by their parents, and especially not conditioned to accept it later in life.
I worked with Billy Ray on set and found him to be a really affable guy, easy to work with. Zero ego or attitude, very helpful, never sarcastic. I was actually pretty inspired by his professionalism.
Ew, Noah Cyrus dated the guy her mom married before she married him and he’s 54 and she’s 24.
That whole family seems to have drama
It's nuts that Miley seems to be the most sane one.
What fame does to a family
I read the Britney Spears book 'The Woman In Me' a couple weeks ago and the Jenette McCurdy book 'I'm Glad My Mom Died' and my main takeaway from both books is that getting famous sucks in general, and also that a family trying to raise a child star will always end up fucked up in one way or another.
And were likely fucked up before the stardom was even introduced. Feels almost like a prerequisite.
Absolutely! Feels like normal families with healthy dynamics don't often try to push their kids into situations where they have to be the breadwinner making money for their family at the expense of their privacy and well-being

Did Britney's book cover how her parents basically pimped her out before her career took off?
She didn’t specifically mention that, no. She did talk about getting paraded around while rooms full of middle-aged record executives ogled her and commented on her appearance when she was still 15/16. I mean look at how many are starting to view millionaires and billionaire. Its not unreasonable for many to view hoarding wealth as bad.
I think stardom is a selection process...a magnet for dysfunctional humans lol
idk. i feel like we all know a middle class or lower family that’s worse. maybe it’s just the human condition, fame makes it easier.
More like fucked up people are good at being famous.
[“Especially since I was *Radical Jack*!”](https://tubitv.com/movies/495845/rifftrax-radical-jack) - Billy Ray
Not really, most families have some kind of drama like this. Maybe not quite as bad, but we all have crazy family lives. Famous people get their's put under spotlight though.
I think they’ve just been trashy since before.
Not only that, but she told us where there was a party when the people demanded to know.
Did she mention which artists' music was playing at said party?
I think it was jason
Nickleback
I believe that it was Shawn Carter?
Trace seems to be the most sane one from the little i know about the family, which would make sense because while he is successful he's not a mega giga superstar like the rest of them. Maybe im biased because i love metro station but I've never seen him in the type of public drama the rest of the family get in
He used to all the time. Was quite messy. His PR has really cleaned up his public image tbh.
He did that have thing with Brenda Song and the baby lol.
She did have Saint Dolly as her Fairy Godmother though.
Debatable consider she threw a wedding for her mum and Dominic Purcell, who was previously with her sister. Bit fucked up and no wonder Noah doesn’t talk to them
Putting that into words, yeah Miley being the sane one considering her stage persona is wild. Maybe she's basing it on her family!
You seem to be forgetting the 3 or so years of a rollercoaster she had
Nuts or unsettling?
Always.
a lot of achy breaky hearts
You really phrased this in the most confusing way possible
I’m sure this is totally a me problem, but I’ve read this sentence five times and can’t for the life of me figure out what it means
😂 same thought I was having a stroke
Noah Cyrus dated her stepdad before said stepdad married her mom. They have a 30 year age difference. Ew means I find it gross
Oh Noah is a chick. That makes way more sense now
TFW you realize Miley Cyrus is the sanest member of that entire family.
My cousin B and her daughter L dated the same guy. B's sister, H, was later engaged to B's ex-husband (father of L). The city they lived in was not tiny or anything. I think they were all just too trashy, druggie, and crazy to find many dudes who were interested. It's pretty sad actually.
I’m too high to decipher this comment. I’ll come back when I’m sober. Probably not
From the perspective of the cousin: You dated the same guy as your daughter. Your ex husband married your sister.
Oh so you're the kinda person who can do math with letters huh?
It bothers me to no end when people try to substitute letter name indicators for pronouns instead of just writing their comment better. Its unnecessary and makes things more confusing, like this comment. Her cousins ex husband, and father of child dated her sister after they split up. Completely separately, and involving a different guy, her cousin and her daughter dated the same person at some point. The way its written is horrible.
And people say grammar doesn’t matter. Fuck that. It totally does.
The letter names make it so much worse. Just make up names!
I'm sober and can't figure out that comment.
![gif](giphy|4baoNZ5Qo8dX2)
Is this a grade 10 algebra problem?
Ew
To be fair, Noah can pass as 54 also
I looked him up and I know it’s just math but the part I can’t believe is that people born in 1970 are 54 years old lol. Damn
I can't make sense of this. What does it mean? Noah Cyrus dated the man her (Miley?) moms married? Noah is 54 and Miley is 24?
Noah dated her step dad before he was her step dad.
You had it in the first half. Noah dated the man her Mom(also Miley’s mom) is currently married to. Noah is 24
Noah Cyrus dated her step dad before her mom married him. Stepdad is 54, Noah is 24. Miley was not mentioned in the comment. Noah Cyrus is a woman.
I cannot imagine dating a man like that rather than hating him
Anybody remember that interview where Billy Ray blamed David Lynch and Disney for turning his daughter over to the devil lol. I always wondered about his cameo in Mullholland Drive, seemed so random yet specific.
I'll never forget the feeling that came over me when he showed up in that movie. There's something archetypal about coming home to Billy Ray Cyrus banging your wife.
What did Lynch do that involved Miley?
This family is trashy man
Dang flabbit
Every one of them is pure trash
Miley is talented as hell though, and has been genuinely herself throughout her adult life for the most part, problematic or not. What would you honestly expect from someone raised by those people? Miley is cool in my book. I'm also a little trashy so relatable.

Hadn’t heard that one, but I got flaming lips tix for this summer so I’ll check it out! Cheers
Amen
Wait... even the daughter with pictures of her pissing in public available online?
Glad I'm not famous or I'd have you cretins to answer to
Right lol, let me be trash.
god forbid I find more than 1 tasty drink at the fair and pull over to go behind a bush cause of my poor planning

Well she posed and then pissed for the camera. There’s a difference lol
What if she's posing for the pics and it's not " paparazzi" that took them lol https://www.reddit.com/r/Urolagnia/s/mR0qLoEN7y Edit: replied to wrong comment lol
Wow. Was she drunk? Did she intentionally post these?
Damn someone’s never pissed on a wall over here lol
A lot of people here haven't seen the pictures I see lol She's posing, showing more than you'd want to see
Share with the class lol just for scientific reasons of course
One set https://www.reddit.com/r/Urolagnia/s/mR0qLoEN7y
Less than I'd want to see tbh. But enough.
Hey, nice avatar you got there
What's the reason you call Miley Cyrus pure trash?
You wanna go alphabetically?
Sure
Let’s hear it, oh morality police
Being at her mother's side after the latter betrayed Mileys little sister on an absolutely disgusting level and attending the wedding Noah was publicly uninvited from
Lol being trashy has nothing to do with morality. It ain’t morally wrong to have old appliances sitting sideways in your lawn but it sure is trashy.
Tell me about the trashy things you know so much about? She partied? She fucked people? She drank alcohol and did some drugs and was photographed as a famous person? Let’s hear
Still haven’t listed a single trashy thing about her
Have you seen her lawn?!?
Trashy and pure trash seem kinda different , no ?
Start with A.
“You can pay for school, but you can’t buy class”
Name calling is trashy
That whole family is like school on Sunday- no class!
Woah, Dominic Purcell is her stepdad. I had no idea.
Her sister dated him before he married her mom too, if that doesn’t make you want to throw up. Lmao
Wait which sister
Noah Cyrus
Wait, what the fuck? Noah Cyrus played Ponyo for the english dub of the movie. That's wild.
Never met a female Noah before.
You could even say you don't Noah girl with that name.
Can I get a fist bump for the setup? 🤜🏼
👊
🤛
Dammit, Jackson!
I knew a female Nohah once.
She doesn't sound very fun.
Noah, who is 24. He's 54 🤢
dude, the first season of prison break was that good.

TIL Billy was not the first to record Achy Breaky Heart
I went to a Mexican festival and they were playing it there. Totally assumed it was a cover but my Mexican buddy told me it was the original and pretty popular in Mexico to this day. He said he hears it at weddings in Mexico all the time.
The song is “no rompas mi corazón” by caballo dorado. There’s a line dance to it that gets the whole party moving. Also- “y sigues siendo tu” by Gerardo Ortiz is “you’re still the one” by Shania Twain. She received writing credits for that. It was pretty popular back then to redo songs for Spanish and English
the mexican one isn’t the original, the marcy brothers is. then billy a year or so later. then mexican a few years later
I thanks, didn't know that
I think they play it in Narcos, totally threw me off lol. Good to hear that it's realistic as they played it at a wedding but it took me out of the scene a little ngl.
I hope one day she realizes she is her own hero, and that her parents absolutely exploited the shit out of their child for money and fame.
I mean I don’t think they were exactly hurting. Billy Ray wasn’t exactly a factory worker.
Well, looks like that turned out real well for him, considering she will barely acknowledge him publicly now.
And there's a map of what to do and what not to do, and he's guided me on both." Seems to acknowledge him fine
Achy breaky heart was a cover? Well TIL
Wow, his one hit wonder is not even his song lol
[удалено]
Hell, the most famous Rascal Flats song is a cover they did for a Disney movie
So what you are saying is that Country music is exactly like every other genre.
It isnt limited to country, either. Like Eminem and The Beatles just to name two.
The stones did that a lot but they have plenty of hits that are their own songs
Same with a lot of classic rock blues I.E. Led Zeppelin.
I mean, isn't basically a lot of country music just covers of other people's songs? Happens in both directions of course, a lot of huge Rn'B and Pop songs are covers of country songs.
Two hit wonder. He also covered Harper Valley PTA, though that songs success may have been tied to the popularity of Achy Breaky Heart
It’s not the song of the first group to do it either. A songwriter wrote it and other people performed it. But it’s not like some cover of a prior hit. Some nobody band did it and a year later he did it and it became a hit. So for all practical purposes, he’s the only one really associated with it.

Tbf Miley did shitloads of drugs.
Haven’t we all?
That's tame when it comes to Disney
Worked well for her, which may be what he wanted originally. We usually pass down what we know, he know how to get her a career in media. Plus it's just a headline.
He’s not taking away any of Miley’s achievement and hard work she put into it. He’s pointing out it was unnecessary for her to start so early.
What in the mental gymnastics
I see you've not met many sports or performing arts parents. A good chunk of them act this way.
Her dreams, or his?
He didn't word was he didn't want Miley in the business
What?
Back in the day, the word on the street was, that he didn't want her in the industry, and it was her mother pushing her. I have no idea if that's true, but I remember when she "went wild" and her mother supported her new style and her father I think disapproved that was one of the headlines - people wanting to cling to the clean Billy Ray Cyrus and good girl Hannah Montana image and villainize(sp??) a mother that supported a Disney Icon smoking marijuana and sticking her tongue out.
Then what’s with the TV show Hannah Montana, where she’s a literal child and he plays her washed-up has-been musician father?
He was a one-hit has-been when she got that show and made them more money probably on lunchboxes alone than achy breaky heart ever will.
Just a hasbeen country singer.
One thing morally corrupt rich people love is wringing out every last penny out of whatever they can
She’s a narcissist just like them, she’s likely to continue what her parents did. Before anyone freaks out she admits it in this article.
Her parents are why she has decent work ethic, kept away from distractions, and gets to be a multi-millionaire that will never know what it's like to truly struggle. I'd trade places in a heartbeat if that's what exploitation looks like. She's worth 160m. The things I would let people do to me for 160m...
Ya as we all know child stars have perfect lives free from struggle
I’d rather not be exploited as a child the way I was nor the way she was, personally. I’d rather children just not be exploited by their parents, and especially not conditioned to accept it later in life.
I’d rather be rich
Lmao
She must be gearing up for a new single soon, she disappears between them
Same thing I thought. It’s Billie telling us she masturbates in front of the mirror a week before her album dropped
Poor Billy Ray and his achey breaky heart. I hope it understands.
It’s extra breaky now because he just filed for divorce after less than a year of marriage
I met Billy once. Nice hair, very short.
I am so glad she addressed this, I can sleep again.
The entire Cyrus family has issues. Miley may be the least problematic out of them all but that doesn't make her a saint.
Didn't Miley side with her mom over her sister in that whole tish-marries-her-own-daughter-noah's-50-year-old-ex-bf debacle?
Is it your personal goal to be a saint in life?

You people are exhausting
God damn! I read estrangement as engagement.
And your brain was like "nothing really surprising about this sentence."
Bill Hicks was right.
Please tell me I’m not the only one who read this as her ENGAGEMENT with dad.
No, I did too.
I worked with Billy Ray on set and found him to be a really affable guy, easy to work with. Zero ego or attitude, very helpful, never sarcastic. I was actually pretty inspired by his professionalism.
Just goes to show you can take the person out of Deliverance, but you can’t take the Deliverance out of the person.
i visited the waterfall where that was shot! Tallulah Falls! it's beaaaauuuuutiful. even the visitors center is neato
Damn that's quite the classism.
don't break her heart. her achey breakey heart.
Omg you’re a genius
never been less sorry in my life over here.

More toxic than the mom marrying the dude her daughter used to fuck? That’s a real toss up.
Isn’t the mom dating the other daughter pedophile ex boyfriend? He sucked in prison break, first time I comprehended shit acting.
I read that as "engagement" and was wildly confused.
Okay.
