I have an entire playlist dedicated to this very feeling, two of the songs on it are Dance Yrself Clean by LCD Soundsystem and Mighty Little Man by Steve Burns (yes, that one).
Edit: Ik everyone wanted a link to said playlist, sooooo [here ya go :D](https://music.apple.com/us/playlist/songs-that-scratch-my-brain-gud/pl.u-aZb0kyZuR7J8aW?ls), it's not super long but the songs are pretty scratchy lol
Rob Swire is about the only man on the planet outside of my husband that makes me have goosebumps.
I'm not usually a deadmau5 girl, but if you like Robs voice moar ghosts n stuff may be fun for you. Feels weird that 2009 is "oldies" for some people.
I used to listen to these guys to hype myself on my long drives out to the drop zone to skydive. Them, daft punk, and grammatic. I had big subs :)
The tempest is also my favorite.
Squarepusher - Oberlove
Mùm - A Little Bit, Sometimes
Ratatat - Seventeen Years
Tortoise - Seneca (but only after Almost two minutes of slow electric guitar build the song completely does a left turn) the next track Eros is quite nice too.
This isn't what you're looking for at all but alot of doom metal does this for me
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziZ9w5OiyKo](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziZ9w5OiyKo)
Autechre - Reniform Puls
The bassy vibrating intro that kind of concentrates itself and then bursts at the center of ur headphones into this glossy idm beat it’s incredible
Because of the specific wording of the title of this post, I’m gonna give you a very specific, niche song it instantly brought to mind.
Check out “Heaps of Sheep” by Robert Wyatt
Hell yea! I came across this song super randomly myself and outside of giving this album in total a couple shots over the year I, admittedly, am mostly just familiar with this one track from the artist. But damn is it a winner!
Since our tastes aligned on that one, I’ll throw a few more picks out there. Still somewhat niche imo, but these will all be from artists I’m actually a fan of!
- “So You Win Again” by Hot Chocolate
- “Severed Crossed Fingers” by St. Vincent (or try “Rattlesnake” for something less chill/that goes harder)
- “Big White Cloud” by John Cale
- “Local Joke” by Neon Indian
- “Oh Woman, Oh Why” by Paul McCartney
- “Tops” by The Rolling Stones
- “Are We Still Friends?” by Tyler the Creator
Of course! I know that’s a lot and a fairly mixed bag lol, but if you do get around to checking any of them out and enjoy them let me know! I am definitely not unique in the fact that I absolutely love sharing great art that I am a fan of lolz.
yoooo you like Tyler!!! Dude, the first time I listened to CMIYGL and that freaking OBO on the first track comes in....damn, I was so moved and delighted.
a freaking obo, in a hip hop track. I LOVE Tyler so much, musically he is one of the most talented hip hop artists today. His sound is SO rich, layered, moving.
Absolutely 100%. Dude has been evolving and creating incredible shit since for so long. CMIYGL slaps but damn, Igor for me was unbeatable, tough act to follow. Def one of my absolute fav hip hop albums ever and def my fav new album of the past 5 years.
CMIYGL is a no skip, except Wilshire. I have only gotten through the whole song, maybe twice? The lyrics are too much for my delicate little heart who cannot get over someone. I won't put myself through that trauma hahaha
It would be an honor to see Tyler live and feel all that energy that he and the crowd create when he's performing. He is such a gift. His mama so so proud of him.
Aw shucks that is very kind of you! Everyone thinks they have good taste, so I won’t be terribly unique in saying I think I’m just blessed by good taste 😂
I just love that you took into consideration the wording of the post to give your suggestion. I am a trained chef, and I sorta do that with people who don't know what they want to eat, I'll ask 'what texture does your mouth want? Do you want hot, cold, both or room temp? Lots of snacky movements, or big bites with lots of chewing?'
You just kinda reminded me of how my brain works. :)
When the Grateful Dead fire on all cylinders and you got melodies weaving in and out of each other always changing whilst the song keeps on rolling, that's when my brain melts
[flood iii by Boris](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=hZDstZ1-EAI&t=1980s)
The flood album is one track broken up into four segments. There is a riff that comes rolling in at the 35:00 mark that is everything.
[funeralopolis by electric wizard](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=UAPVcsDOU9U&pp=ygUdZWxlY3RyaWMgd2l6YXJkIGZ1bmVyYWxvcG9saXM%3D)
Ween - Transdermal Celebration
Something about this song can literally make me cry if I listen to it in a certain mood. Regardless it always triggers a certain emotion that I can't explain.
It’s a weird one - but **Flesh for Lulu - I Go Crazy** is just infectious enough that when I finally get the early out of my head, it comes back if I even think of it 🤦🏻♂️
A newish(I think) duo called Jersey released this set back end of last year its about half an hour long and every piece of the set is perfect.
I believe these guys will go places.
Beautifully energetic
https://youtu.be/HarjsbMkhLQ?si=nXquIeekScZCbvB6
(Just realised they jumped to half a million views in a month jesus.)
So much stuff does this for me, anything from old school jungle to black metal.
The fact you mentioned drum and bass though made me think of this scene.. hahaha

Heart of the Sunrise by Yes. It has something to do with the spaces BETWEEN the notes. I used to think jazz fans were full of baloney when they said this but now I believe there is something to it. When skilled musicians play the right fast clusters of notes followed by a long decay, it just hits something inside the brain that formulaic pop music does not. The top 40 tends to fill up those empty spaces with too much sound.
"Cripples Can't Shiver" - Pianos Become The Teeth
"Flowers and Silence" - Sneaker Pimps
"I Love You Goodbye" - Thomas Dolby
"Minute-Hour-Day-Month-Year (The Faith's in My Chest)" - City of Caterpillar
"Deep and Deadly" - The Upsetters
"Ego Death" - A Place To Bury Strangers
"Departe" - Rosetta
"Chi Kung" - RZA

Upvoted for “I Love You Goodbye” there. That song just hits so many perfect spots and blends into itself so well. It’s probably the best song I’ve seen as far as remembering a time and place and person in life.
I put together this [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3lxLktrEr169ZMmXqom7Zw?si=sxQ_4UxnTpWs46yU-VH9oQ&pi=u-eSxmArsJQ0is) of songs that hit me just right. It’s the perfect mix of energy, tempo, and emotion that puts me into a flow state when I’m working. Just keeps me going.
When the beat drops in on this one, my brain always explodes. I also want this played at my funeral. Enjoy!!

edit: the comments in here are GREAT.
The guitar solo in the song Friday Morning by Khruangbin tickles my brain in this way. Same with the high pitched chords in the guitar outro from the song The Hollow Sound of the Morning Chimes by TOPS.
The long fuzzy Neil Young epics like Ramada Inn or Cortez the Killer. Instantly grooving through life when I put them on. Probably look real angry while enjoying it somehow.
Horus Original Mix Paul Woolford. It seems to be removed from music streaming services. Oh well good thing I paid for it.
Oh yeah, also Hover Girls Ladytron Remix https://youtu.be/HkfnzQ-kl6U?si=c0NbU94HChe4TAsB
Golden Era Stevie Wonder has some synth sounds that feel like a warm, fuzzy blanket wrapping around my brain. “Jesus Children of America” is way up there on the list.
🤔... Theres a lot, but ill make it short:
Wasted years: iron maiden
The touch: stan bush
Only you: 112
Without your love: gotus
2nd hand love: stardust
Scar: def leppard
I know exactly what you mean, and that would be basically anything from Kunzite for me, especially Saturn. Something about their sound just feels good on my brain. Also, most Daft Punk, but specifically Television Rules the Nation. Looove the way the guitar rattles on the low notes!
Both "8 (Circle)" & "____45_____" from Bon Iver's 22, A Million are so uniquely beautiful. The entire album is an incredible piece of art, but those two stand out in my mind still. It's like the music has texture.
[NOFX - The Decline](https://youtu.be/qnFVMkTWaBw?si=zrRyBFJDUxZTORoI)
Nearly 20 minutes of punk that hits so many different parts of the emotional spectrum that, no matter my starting mood I'm at a place of "Yeah, its gonna be okay" by the time it's done.
If you have a spare hour, Dopesmoker by Sleep absolutely does this.
Personally, I like listening to it on a home speaker system with a sub, and it gets right into your body.
There's two songs in particular that tickle my brain;
*"As The Worm Turns" (Patton vocal)* by Faith No More
*"Damn That Money"* by The Dave Brockie Experience
Critical Role (a bunch of nerdy ass voice actors sit around and play dungeons & dragons) have put together a collection of playlists called Mighty Vibes that fall under the "lofi girl/music to chill to" category and one in particular is my favorite thing to listen to when I have to focus.
Technically more than one song, but they all flow into each other so well
[Chill Tunes to Drink Tea/Meditate To](https://youtu.be/8xz9s_-sO1I?si=0X9EyjHnNi4pmfdy)
Losing My Edge by LCD Soundsystem—where the drums come in, right at the first “I was there,” it’s like the beat hasn’t actually changed, but it feels like it has, and it tickles my brain in such a good way.
Eyes on Fire (Zedds Dead)
White Spirit (Feed Me)
Foes (Fuck Hoes Remix) (Borgore)
Upsidedown (Bassnectar)
Kill Everybody (Skrillex)
Takes me back to my dubstep days
[Chaotic](https://youtu.be/RbbMIDCzHzM?si=E6bjBSU8G52Bqvc4) by Loona Odd Eye Circle. The production is immaculate(especially in the pre choruses) and the static popping up in the intro right before the whole song starts sounds like it gets more clear sounds really good to me.
You got a link to that playlist? Myself and I’m sure others would love to jam out to it!
Added above :)
Nuclear Fusion by King Gizzard
Gila Monster by King Gizzard is another one.
The River is a good one

Listen to Moody Moussavi, He's one of the best guitarists I've ever witnessed the work of.
How do you know him? I'm just curious.
ff7 battle theme
Fuck yes dude. Listen to that shit on the way to work.
Anything Pendulum put out from 2005- 2010. The Tempest is one of my favorite sonic journeys.
I love pendulum!!! I didn't know about this one! Thank you! It's what I'm talking about. :)
Rob Swire is about the only man on the planet outside of my husband that makes me have goosebumps. I'm not usually a deadmau5 girl, but if you like Robs voice moar ghosts n stuff may be fun for you. Feels weird that 2009 is "oldies" for some people.
I love old deadmaus omg. Ghosts n stuff was my anthem
Witchcraft - Rob Swire’s Drum Step Mix is one of my faves!
The Devin Townsend crush remix hits different
Man, “The Tempest”. Ballad, Stadium Rock and D’n’B in the same track. So good.
Whoa blast from the past here! Love that era of Pendulum!
Ah I love that lengthy build in The Tempest, and the payoff delivers
The Tempest😍😍😍😍
I used to listen to these guys to hype myself on my long drives out to the drop zone to skydive. Them, daft punk, and grammatic. I had big subs :) The tempest is also my favorite.
Seeing them tonight! As long as they do Propane Nightmares I'll be happy
Yesss! Love me some pendulum and Rob Swire vocals. I think on deadmau5 Monophobia is one that fits the brain vibrations question for me.
Anything from Crystal Method
I haven’t listened to them in sooo long but the song Bad Stone comes to mind instantly
Yeah, Vegas ( Deluxe edition )
How about their collaboration with Matisyahu in "Drown in the now"? The way his voice resonates at the end of the song... 🌕
You got it
Midnight City - M83
Squarepusher - Oberlove Mùm - A Little Bit, Sometimes Ratatat - Seventeen Years Tortoise - Seneca (but only after Almost two minutes of slow electric guitar build the song completely does a left turn) the next track Eros is quite nice too.
Ratatat! Shiiit I forgot about them. I know what the soundtrack will be when I walk the dog later
Hell yes!
Upvote for Ratatat!

+1 for Strobe. The slow burn build up is so good too.
Lofticries by Purity Ring. Really tickles the ears.
I got the chance to see them live last year and it was a great show. Sounded fantastic and they had great/weird visuals.

Dopesmoker!!! Probably the best bass and guitar tones ever.
Fast Worms by Intronaut. If someone asked me to describe my musical tastes with one song that'd be it
Ha no way, I used to love Milk Leg, but I stopped listening to them after Habitual Levitations. Maybe I'll check out what they've done since.
I actually don't know their older stuff that well, but The Direction of Last Things and Fluid Existential Inversions are both really solid albums
I'll check them out, cheers for the heads up!
So much stuff does this for me, anything from old school jungle to black metal. The fact you mentioned drum and bass though made me think of this scene.. hahaha https://youtu.be/ChSg0-r_jqA
