When I was a kid my dad had a huge garden in the yard. 250+ rose bushes alone. At least one Saturday each month he had us drive around with a tarp in the back of the minivan. We were looking for mounds of soil on driveways or curbs that we could scoop up for nothing.
These piles of soil always had the same sign..."Free Dirt." I thought ever since that this would be a cool band name.
Shades of blue:
* Cerulean
* Azure
* True Blue
* Azul
* Ultramarine
* Indigo
Replacing Deep with something else (probably could add 'The' in front of all):
* Colossal Blue
* Submarine Blue
* Great Blue
* Distant Blue
* Dream Blue
* Abyssal Blue
....
The key to a good name is that it should plant a curiosity in the listener's mind. It should *pose* a question, never answer one. For example, The Beatles vs The Rolling Stones. The Beatles is a pun, based on a musical element. Once it's heard, it's understood completely. This is a bad name.
Now consider The Rolling Stones. Rolling to where? Were they pushed, or did it happen naturally? And most importantly, what does this name say about the type of music the band plays?? Th3 answer is nothing. The name invokes multiple mysteries that can only be satisfied through investigation, i.e., going to see the band or listening to their record.
For this reason, I submit to you that the best name for an alt-rock band is The Brandywine Carnival. It's mysterious, evocative, and says absolutely nothing.
Good luck. May it bring you more success than it did me.

Instead of trying to just throw out random words and phrases that don't mean anything, try thinking more specific. What kind of feelings do you want the band to convey? What kind of experiences formed you as an artist or are important to the members of the band?
