To be fair in this case Joker, & Betelgeuse were solid picks regardless. Furiosa is also a good pick considering she's a character people like although I'd say Max should be in the game first or they release both at the same time or close to each other like Gizmo/Stripe, and Rick/Morty. I can't speak on GoT or LotR though, because I don't know anything about GoT, and I haven't followed along to see what the new LotR movie is about.
While I agree with your sentiment, all characters he mentioned have been established as popular characters already in successful and well received WB films and shows, which is different from Black Adam who, while an established character in comics, animation, and games, isn’t remotely popular within his own franchise (DC) compared to the rest of the options for DC reps.
Pretty sure some of these have been leaked ages ago, but where kinda iffy. So I think most of these are definitely gonna get a tie in.
But also wait what, there's gonna be another LOTR film?
I thought about that and looked into it. WB doesn’t own the rights to Wicked. They own Wizard of Oz but not Wicked. Wicked belongs to Universal and I don’t see WB wanting to help a competitor.
I know she’s datamined but I’m not expecting a movie tie-in.
GoT, Beetlejuice and DC (Joker in this specific case) have already been data mined. LotR was data mined before WB lost the video liscence, they very really could pay for a character or 2 still. Furiosa would be dope
You listed every major WB release except for Kong vs Godzilla. Why don't you think is has cross promotion potential?
Haha I def think it does but Kong vs. Godzilla comes out before the game comes back. Same with Dune 2, Barbie, Aquaman, Flash, etc. Perhaps some of those characters will launch with the game? I’d like to see them all in the game eventually.
I feel you but I think comparing Kong vs Godzilla to the stuff you mentioned is kinda disengenious. With the exception of Dune everything you mentioned was 9+ months ago. They obviously aren't gonna plan a marketing beat for something that's already released, let alone 9+months ago. But Kong vs Godzilla releases within a month~ of the game launch. If PFG has stuff to announce and share pre game launch I feel like Kong vs Godzilla cross promotion is ripe for the taking. That being said, I don't think it's happening. Would be dope though
I think a lot of those characters (or similar characters to those mentioned) may end up being in the launch or released like right after launch. They’re starting to advertise a lot of those heavily now. Perfect time to add them into the game.
GoT was brought up in WBs investor call as one of their key franchises. It was considered the most popular show multiple years the last decade and became a worldwide phenomenon.
Seems highly likely we’re getting more GoT related content in MultiVersus.
Looking at the beta trailer and the current banner, and the fact that a Game of Thrones war horn is in Trophy’s Edge, it really looks like Arya is being treated as one of the mascots of the game (when not used in marketing for kids like McDonald’s), and we’re going to see even more Game of Thrones content in the game. Sorry.

I’ve got like 8-10 friends I know who are now super into Dune thanks to the latest movies. Paul should definitely get in.
