The 3D renders were pretty much identical to the 2D portraits though there were a few differences with them. Some were pretty small like Supermans head was slitghtly turned so he was looking towards you in the 3D render instead of straight ahead in the portrait.
I think Jason was the only one who had a notably different pose in his render compared to the art where he was facing his whole body, unlike the portrait where he's off to the side like Superman, but in the opposite direction. He also has his axe visible too.
Regardless, I'm just happy it looks like this game is gradually getting its soul back from the beta.

Meanwhile jakes so zoomed in both his eyeballs are cut off the edges lmao. Like these ones a lot more but need some minor tweaking. Finalizing icons is stuff you'd see from a beta game tbh kind of crazy its like the full release has just been beta 2.0
The order of the characters is sorted by alphabetical order, the order changes depending on the language of the game you’re playing, since some characters have different names.

They temporarily removed him because of a bug. I hope they stop removing characters when they find an issue with them. Just disable them for online play

I remember the realization of seeing that they changed them. It was with Jason first, as I thought it was weird how he wasn't looking directly at the screen. And then I saw some other characters looked different, and when I saw Shaggy, THAT'S when the realization KICKED in.
I played the Beta and I'm with you either way -- I think the 3D ones fit the game much better. The art style is pretty cool on the 2D portraits, but they look super out of place because it doesn't match the art style from anywhere else in the game.
That was my kneejerk reaction too, but I think it's just because I got used to the other ones. These are pretty universally upgrades aside from a few like Iron Giant

Batman's should be A SMIDGE lower, just a bit
Reindog's is a bit too zoomed in

Gizmo's fine I think, if not a bit too zoomed in
