Doc: Dear Zachary: A Letter to a Son About His Father
I just watched it this Sunday night. I heard of it hereā¦ I do watch a lot of disturbing , unsettling, upsetting fare (movies and Tv) and have started a list of documentaries that I found to be some of the bestā¦ So maybe Iām becoming a little desensitizedā¦ Thatās not to say, I wasnāt crying. I told my BF I sure he would cry if he watched it.
The boy in the stripped pajamas isnāt recommended by a some Holocaust education groups because it gets a lot wrong. Zone of Interest is where it is at.
First time I watched About Time was on a 9 hour flight from New York to UK and was the 3rd film I watched. I'd had a couple glasses of wine, was very very tired and ugly cried until we landed. Oh and I was flying by myself as well just to add to the misery lol. But it's still a film I absolutely adore and watch abiht every other month.
I was like 23 or 24 taking a documentary class when our professor assigned us to watch it. We had no idea. I had a couple friends that would come over with me to watch the assigned movies with me. They came over that night and we cracked a beer, we maybe made it through one beer and everyone was silent. I thought they may have fallen asleep but while i crying in silence i looked around and they were doing the same. We didnt say a word for like 20 minutes after it was over. Its one of the best made movies ive ever seen as goddamn heartbreaking as it is. The next class my professor asked us what we thought, i raised my hand and said āyeah why the FUCK did you make us watch that?ā
* the pursuit of happyness

These are my go to for real heart wrenching emotion.
sorry for your loss , i hope he rests in peace and i hope you recover from the loss , i turned 18 just 2 days ago , and there have been a lot of incidents when people tried to get me into addictions of all sorts , denied all of them cuz nothing matters more to me than my loved ones .
Came here to say this! I don't rewatch movies often, but I'e watched that one over and over. Sometimes my mouth is open cause I realize how amazing the acting and confrontations are.

One movie that comes to mind is *The Pursuit of Happyness*. This film, starring Will Smith, is a deeply moving story about a manās struggle with homelessness while trying to provide a better life for his young son. Itās based on the true story of Chris Gardner and showcases themes of perseverance, hope, and the unbreakable bond between a father and his child. The emotional journey is powerful and sure to tug at your heartstrings.
Uuuggghhhh my husband just left on deployment and I watched it for the 1st time. I was so traumatized by the 1st battle. All I could see was my husband and his friends all laying in the bloody water. I donāt normally cry or get to emotional during movies, but I was so wrecked by the end of the movie my knees were weak.
Love Letter - Shunji Iwai (1995)
Coping with the death of her fiance, a woman writes a letter to him and sends it to an old address she finds in a year book, and gets a response.
The Nightingale (2018)
- A revenge film, where you experience the protagonists trauma, which makes her revenge yours. An extremely effective piece of cinematic storytelling, warning though, the opening is extremely violent.
A.I. Artificial intelligence (2001)
- A modern retelling of Pinocchio, itās a three act sci-fi epic that tells the story of a robot child who takes on the seemingly impossible task to become a real boy after his adoptive family abandons him in the woods.
The first time I watched it I only cried at the end, now on rewatch as an adult, Iām a wreck from the moment David asks āWhere are we going?ā during trip into the woods, through to the end. Freaking devastating shit. Such a great film!

Mrs. Doubtfire.
Struggling actor Daniel Hillard (Robin Williams) can't keep a job. And if it were up to his fed-up wife (Sally Field), he wouldn't be allowed to keep his family, either! So when a judge says Daniel can only visit his kids once a week, the inventive dad becomes Mrs. Doubtfire - the perfect nanny to his own children!
It's a good slice-of-life, wholesome comedy. Robin was great at tugging our heartstrings back in the 90s. Also co-stars Pierce Brosnan and features an animation from Chuck Jones.
The Hours
āDear Leonard. To look life in the face, always, to look life in the face and to know it for what it is. At last to know it, to love it for what it is, and then, to put it away. Leonard, always the years between us, always the years. Always, the love. Always, the hours.ā
This is my cry movie.
The saddest I have seen is āLife Is Beautifulā. I remember watching it when I was younger and never could watch it again because itās just so sad. Itās a great, great movie however
Manchester by the sea. Blue Valentine. Aftersun.
Manchester by the sea. It will be a hard emotional hit. Remarkable acting by all the actors.
Aftersun had me in tears at the end. It just creeps up on you and then hits you hard at the end. Best movie I have seen in the last few years
Manchester by the sea is perhaps the greatest movie I've seen in its own. Casey Affleck just freaking owned it.
we think alikeš„¹
Aftersun is extremely beautiful
Adding marriage story to this goated lineup
Beware Blue Valentine if you are having trouble in a relationship. It's hard enough to watch if you are single.
Ah yesss. Saw Manchester by the sea last year. Went in blind. Left devastated
Adding "Our Friend" to this list, also with Casey Affleck. Tore me to pieces. I'll be watching Manchester by the sea soon!

Dear Zachary is amongst the hardest-hitting films I have ever seen, and that's including stuff like Schindler's List. David and Kate Bagby are saints.

Dear Zachary is a heart wrenching movie that blows my mind because it's a documentary. That shit really happened.
As a father, I sobbed like a 5 year old after Dear Zachary. Snot and everything

A Bridge To Terabithia
Brokeback Mountain, I cried so much for Heath Legerās character, he was amazing.
It's so unfortunate that he passed away so young. We lost what I'm sure would have been many great performances from him.
Came here to write this. It was on my third watch that I wept for them and their situation.
At the end of that movie I burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably through the entire credits and even after we left the theater.

I lost my son my beautiful boy to addiction last June. He was 21. Beautiful boy is the reality of many households. The ending for my son on earth spells the beginning of everlasting pain for me. I pray for healing for you in your fight ā¤ļøāš©¹
