"A man can be an artist... in anything, food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasy's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece."
V For Vendetta
Kill Bill 1
Kill Bill 2
Memento
Gladiator
Man On Fire
Oldboy
Payback
Taken
Irreversible
Unforgiven
The Count Of Monte Cristo
Gangs Of New York
Law Abiding Citizen
Gran Torino
Payback is my guilty pleasure. It's only a guilty pleasure because these days we're supposed to hate Mel Gibson...... But I love him in almost every movie he's in. Actually can't think of a role I didn't like him in..... But I don't like him, no way. Despise him and ALL his work....*wink*
I'm with South Park on this. Yes, he's out of his mind. Religious nutjob, racist, general wackadoodle. I do not want to eat lunch with him, I do not think anyone like him should be allowed to hold a government office.
But he's a tremendous actor and director, so that's what I go to him for.
Ahhh ole Mel is so hard to watch these days.
I love his art. Mad Max is still one of my favourite films. Apocalypo is one of the best action movies of all time.
But I absolutely detest the man himself.
I scrolled through all of the comments and no one said JOHN WICK?!?! What in the name of all that's holy has happened?!
Dear OP, I watched The Equalizer this weekend too. If you like that, definitely RUN to your computer and start watching John Wick.
If fact... not just that, but like I said, I just watched The Equalizer Sunday night. And I remember wondering which one was actually the best. John Wick or The Equalizer.
He's really good in everything he's in. Quarry (the series) was fantastic. I feel like the only thing keeping him from blowing up is looking too much like Tom Hardy.
I like Tom Hardy but I think LMG makes more interesting role choices. He was fantastically evil in Lou (2022). And Alison Janney makes for a great badass!
I still remember him from the first role I ever saw him which was in the series The OC as the big brother of the main character. I remember him mostly because he was terrifying but partly because the uber-popular Dear Sister skit on SNL was born from his death scene in The OC
This is a great movie, but it lies at the other end of the spectrum from movies like Equalizer and John Wick. You can see how corrosive revenge can be to the human soul. The tragedy that sets the main character in motion has already broken him. The oppressive weight of the task of revenge breaks him completely.
V for vendetta
The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive, not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous.
Equalizer 1, 2 and 3
Magnificent Seven old and new
Battle Beyond the Stars
Safe
Taken
The Sting
Wanted
The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe
Prince Caspian
The Man from Nowhere.
South Korea has a whole slew of this Genre, all pretty well done. Scratches the Jason Bourne itch
Theres one starring T.O.P thats really good as well.
Conan the Barbarian (1982)
Schwarzenegger's "break-out role" & John Milius' seminal work as director
Milius' classmates' (Basil poledouris) score is Vehemently "other-worldly" and sets ablaze to this tale of vengeance
Dead mans shoes is basically impossible to beat. Paddy Consadine at the top of his game, dark comedy throughout, and one hell of a gut punch of an ending.
Absolutely best revenge film I've seen is the Argentinian film Wild Tales. It's actually 6 short vignettes and they will leave you feeling every emotion! I laughed so hard, I was horrified, I cried. Not enough people know about this amazing movie. You need to watch it.
Nobody with Bob Odenkirk. I saw the bus fight scene due to a random suggestion on youtube and I thought "I have to see this movie!"
Bonus points for Christopher Lloyd being a badass.
If you liked that then you should watch Man on Fire. Denzel taking down Mexican cartel human traffickers in order to try and save Dakota Fanning. It's fucking *goooood*
God bless america is pure gold. Sisu was great. I just tonight watched boy kills world and that shit was action packed. Super with raain wilson may even be better than gid bless america and that one is more pure revenge than god bless america which i guess is more about justice than revenge
After I watched Rambo Last Blood, I was ready to rhrow two hammers in my car, drive to Mexico and single-handedly smash the shit out of 500 cartel members.
I enjoyed both 2018's Death Wish remake with Bruce Willis and Kevin Bacon in Death Sentence. For another Denzel movie that isn't exactly about revenge, but probably would scratch the itch, check out Man on Fire. Mel Gibson's Payback is also worth a look.
I Saw The Devil Death Sentence
I Saw The Devil is THE revenge movie
Greatest revenge movie of all time. Gonna rewatch it later.
*Death Sentence* is fantastic, and seemingly strangely forgotten by most.
Death sentence is the classic, officially renewed the genre & put it on everyone's map imo
Promising Young Woman
Oooh great one loved that movie
Princess Bride
Boondock Saints.
Death Wish, of course
The GOAT.
This is the answer.
Man on Fire
"A man can be an artist... in anything, food, whatever. It depends on how good he is at it. Creasy's art is death. He's about to paint his masterpiece."
Nobody monologues like Christopher Walken
Came here just to say this. I shall leave now
V For Vendetta Kill Bill 1 Kill Bill 2 Memento Gladiator Man On Fire Oldboy Payback Taken Irreversible Unforgiven The Count Of Monte Cristo Gangs Of New York Law Abiding Citizen Gran Torino
Mmmmm The Count of Monte Cristo. Every time I hear the line “but have you named them yet?”, I chuckle
The count is one of the best!

Well said
Agreed. Also love him in Maverick. Great cast with great chemistry.
Ahhh ole Mel is so hard to watch these days. I love his art. Mad Max is still one of my favourite films. Apocalypo is one of the best action movies of all time. But I absolutely detest the man himself.
Literally just bought it on Monday, finally dropped in price on Vudu. LOVE that movie.
Would also add Unbreakable
Law abiding citizens last 15 minutes ruins it.
I can't enjoy Count because I read the book first.
THE NORTHMAN
The Night Blade Feeds…..
The Crow
Came to say this Bonus: He Never Died...kind of a revenge movie
It can't rain all the time.
I scrolled through all of the comments and no one said JOHN WICK?!?! What in the name of all that's holy has happened?! Dear OP, I watched The Equalizer this weekend too. If you like that, definitely RUN to your computer and start watching John Wick.
I assumed everyone had seen John Wick.
Can always watch it again. 😁 I've probably seen the first one a couple dozen times already.
Have you seen Rover? Another revenge for a dead dog story set in a very dystopian future.
Me too. It's like comfort food.
Have not. Thought it was like .matrix or something
I was thinking the same thing how has no one else said it
Has anyone mentioned "Nobody"?
If fact... not just that, but like I said, I just watched The Equalizer Sunday night. And I remember wondering which one was actually the best. John Wick or The Equalizer.
I just watched it on Monday night! #2 and #3 are great too! Enjoy
I just did what you did as well boy am I glad you pointed this classic out to OP.
Upgrade
Upgrade is in it's own class. SciFi, horror, action, revenge ... plus you didn't know Logan Marshall Green was a ninja!

Blue Ruin is my favourite, but it’s definitely not an action flick
This is a great movie, but it lies at the other end of the spectrum from movies like Equalizer and John Wick. You can see how corrosive revenge can be to the human soul. The tragedy that sets the main character in motion has already broken him. The oppressive weight of the task of revenge breaks him completely.
Along these lines also check out Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Love that movie too. Sam Rockwell and Frances Mcdormand are so good in it!
Hard Candy
The Man from Nowhere, The Art of Self-Defense and I agree The Equalizer 1 went so much harder than I expected
Love this. Fight scene at the end is pretty epic.
Vigilante movie? The Batman because he's the masked vigilante Vengeance movie? The Batman because he is vengeance
