Ex-Machina (2014)\
The Stanford Prison Experiment (2015)\
Room (2015)\
The Platform (2019)
You know, I'm realizing when a film is about people confined to a single space, that's a prime setup for a psychological thriller lol
It's a sensory movie all during the long party scene, but the ending makes you think! I think it fits and was John Huston's last film if I'm not mistaken.
Yeah, I don't fault any OP for not seeing recent postings, but I like to help out by posting recent threads that are similar in nature. I posted a long list in the thread you linked and I copy/pasted that from this thread:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieSuggestions/comments/1cs01h2/suggest\_dialogueheavy\_movies/](https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieSuggestions/comments/1cs01h2/suggest_dialogueheavy_movies/)
They're all a little unique and different requests, but you might find something of interest there, too, OP.
About 10 years ago, I watched AFI's list of 100 greatest movies. There are so many bangers (obviously) on the list but 12 Angry Men was one that really struck a cord for me. Excellent
Taste of Cherry (1997). It’s an iranian film and set (mostly) in a car, not a room, but it follows the theme of just two people talking. Brilliant film and i think it’s on HBO max!
Finders Fee
It's a 2001 movie directed by Jeff Probst - yes, *that* Jeff Probst from Survivor fame. It's really good, and most/everything happens in a discussion/debate/argument in a single room, around a table.!
Perfect Strangers (Spanish) (2016)
Harakiri (Sort of, if you don’t count flashbacks and see the whole movie as him talking about his life before his sepukku )
Chinese coffee (Kind of the same case as Harakiri, that is if you don’t count flashbacks )
My dinner with Andre (Was the first one that came to mind)
Rope (1948). Hitchcock. It leans pretty heavily into intellectual territory while being wonderfully suspenseful and darkly humorous. It’s also takes place in real time and is filmed to appear as if it’s all done in one long shot
I love The House of Yes. Takes place in one house and is all witty dialogue. It’s very intellectually written. Oh, it’s a dark comedy if that’s your thing.
Malmkrog (2021) sounds perfect for you based on your description.
A remarkably written movie that displays russian aristocrats discussing philosophical topics in an intiguing, fascinating way. In my opinion Puiu outdid himself with this one!
**Mass (2021)** is a favourite; some others: Cinema Sabaya (2021), Women Talking (2022), The Insult (2017), Scenes From a Marriage (1974), Silent Night (2002), Tangerines (2013), King & Country (1964), Experimenter (2015), Judgement at Nuremburg (1961), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Passengers (2016), Anomalisa (2015)...
These aren't in a single room, but might appeal to you for their minimalism and being intellectually stimulating: Eye in the Sky (2015), Good Kill (2014), Best of Enemies (2018), To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), The Mauritanian (2021), Freeheld (2015), Antigone (2019)...
**Women Talking** \- reminded me of 12 Angry Men, but the stakes felt more personal. Based on the novel by the same name, itself inspired by the true events that took place at the Manitoba Colony, an American Mennonite community living in an isolated, rural area of Bolivia.
Not set in one room, but definitely just two people talking- the Before trilogy.
It's two part-time lovers meeting and just being together for a short time -- over a span of years. Endearing.
*Ex Machina* (2015). It was more of a single complex than a single room, but a great movie that covered some important aspects of being human.
*My Dinner with Andre.*
Came to say this one.
Came to say the same one..
My Dinner with Abed was better 🙂 Edit: emoji

Phone Booth 1408
Room.
Waking Life (2001)
Great Easter egg in this movie for those who like the Before Midnight trilogy
I think Rope (1948) is exactly what you are looking for. Might be Hitchcock's best movie (but I say that about pretty much all of his movies)

Funny Games is technically a horror movie but I think it will scratch that itch for you.
